Atlas: Oops.
Asher: You know whoever’s in charge has to make dinner, right? So, what are you making for us? Spencer: Hmm... Ice cream for me, and broccoli for you! Asher: Ooh yes! I love broccoli. We should add brussels sprouts too. Make sure you steam them so the whole house will smell like vegetables. Spencer: [giggles] Eww!
Atlas: How about I’m in charge and I’ll order pizza. Spencer: Can I still have ice cream? Atlas: Sure. After dinner. Spencer: Deal.
Spencer: When are your babies gonna get here? Atlas: Not for a while. Li isn’t due until January. Spencer: So, is Li going to be their mom? Asher: No, Li is just carrying them for us. Our babies don’t have a mom. Just two dads.
Spencer: Oh. Do the babies have names yet? Asher: One of them does. The girl is named Sadie. Spencer: Why doesn’t the boy have a name? Atlas: We haven’t found one we like yet.
Spencer: Can I help? Atlas: We’re open to suggestions, but no promises. Asher: Yeah, we gotta find one that feels right, y’know. Spencer: Well, you should make sure it starts with an ‘S’. Atlas: Why? Because your name starts with ‘S’? Spencer: No! Because Sadie starts with ‘S’. Your names both start with ‘A’ and the puppies’ names both start with ‘P’ so both the babies should start with ‘S’.
Asher: [considers] Sound logic. Atlas: Yeah. That narrows it down at least. Asher: ‘S’ name it is. Atlas: How about you brainstorm ‘S’ names while you get ready for bed. Spencer: Already? Atlas: Yep. Go on. Spencer: Fine. But there’s a kid in my class named Scott, and he’s mean. He made fun of my drawing in front of everyone, so you can’t name your baby Scott. Asher: Got it. It’s off the list. Now go.
Asher: Hey. You’re home early. Everything okay? Iris: Yeah, just tired. It’s been a long day. Is Spencer in bed already? Atlas: Not yet. She’s getting ready now. Iris: Perfect. Thanks for watching her. Asher: No problem. We had fun.
Iris: Just so you know, I invited Ezra over for dinner tomorrow. Atlas: Why would you do that? Iris: Because he’s my boyfriend, and I want him to meet my family.
Atlas: [rolling his eyes] I don’t know what you see in him. I swear you have the worst taste in men. Iris: Not as bad as my brother.
Asher: Guys, seriously, can you not do this tonight? Iris: Whatever. You don’t have to join us for dinner if you don’t want to, but he is coming and it’s kind of a big deal for me, so please don’t ruin it. Atlas: I won’t. Trust me, I’ll stay as far away as possible. Iris: Perfect.

Vladislaus: It is simple, truly. The Vatores have been reckless in their disrespect of the rules I have set in place, for all of our sakes. Caleb in particular has been vocal about his ideas of 'coexisting' with mortals. He says our way of living is ... barbaric.
[Off-Screen, Vladislaus:] So I need you to seduce the young Mister Vatore, to keep him loyal to the Straud name.
Vladislaus: Put those selfsame talents you used onto me, and make him want you, like the beautiful prize you are.
Current day.
Vladislaus: Miss Vatore, would you tell me of your travel to Italy? I do miss her dearly.
[Lilith, off-screen:] Oh, it's beautiful this time of year. The waves are a gorgeous azure color, the beaches ...
Caleb: !!!
[Caleb, in low tones:] Mistress Vatore, what- ... ?
[Carmilla, in low tones:] Do not make it so obvious.
Lilith: ... and of course, one cannot overstate how delightful the food is.
Vladislaus: It sounds like you've had a very enjoyable time, away from the Hollow ... Miss Vatore, do you know why I've said travel is to be avoided ?
Lilith: Master Straud ...

Oh??? My GOD??? I just discovered the no discovery quests mod (by Frank / Frankk) and it actually!!! works for the bug!! that’s been keeping me away from my original legacy save/family for almost half a year!!
(This was the bug where the discovery quests don’t stop popping up even if you turn them off, which cropped up after the Reaper’s Rewards nonsense last fall. Idk why it took me so long to find this fix but here we are!)

This is the farthest I’ve ever gotten with a legacy play (she said, on gen 2 💀) and I’m so ridiculously excited to finally get to play these sims again oh my gOD
Meet Sophie and Ulrike Ballard-Faust, my sweet little cherub potatoes whom I will absolutely never get over.
After a bit of a whirlwind romance, they had a small but beautiful wedding on the beach in Tartosa with their closest friends. (Neither of them has any (human) family beyond each other... for now.)
Ulrike has made great strides in her art career, turning out masterpiece after masterpiece, and Sophie is well on her way to becoming a master nectar-maker out of their ever-expanding home and garden in Chestnut Ridge.
They also have a mare named Willow, who was Sophie's horse before they got together and who now loves both of them dearly. Ulrike, wary for the longest time of actually riding a horse, finally went for a relaxed ride with Willow yesterday! (Sorry I didn't get pics of that!) It was good for both of them, and she's got a mind to do that more often.
And most excitingly, Sophie is expecting! They wanted to wait until they had their shit at least relatively together before bringing kids into the mix, and they're finally feeling like they've got the basics down. They found a donor and are expecting a healthy baby girl!
More on this little growing family to come--I love them so much it's obscene, and honestly find someone who looks at you the way Ulrike looks at Sophie!!--but I just wanted to briefly introduce them and dip my toe into posting my own Sims before I lost my nerve :)
To say the last few weeks of culinary school under the tutilage of Robert "Bob" Pancakes has been stressful would be an understatement. Maybe as the new standard Fe will be able to ease through the rest of the program. At least now she has a budding friendship with the heir to the Pancake empire, Iggy Pancakes. Hopefully Fe will be able to stay out of the complicated relationship between Bob and his son.

Bob (to Alexandra): Spices and herbs are not optional in this kitchen. They are required. You would do well to remember that."
Bob (to Iggy): "Truthfully I expected worse from you."
Iggy (angrily): Is that a compliment, Chef Pancakes?"
Bob: "If you have to ask the answer is no."
Bob (to Fe): This is... surprisingly edible. The seasoning of your shrimp blends perfectly with the avocado confit. Very bold choice.
Fe (excited): Thank you, Chef. I've been practicing the technique of—"
Bob interrupts
Bob: "Don't get too cocky. You have a long way to go before your food is deserving of any real compliments."
Fe: "Yes, Chef."
Bob: "With that said. Pass."
Fe: "Thank you, Chef."
Bob: "Of all of you chef—"
Fe: "Fe. Fe Murillo-Waller."
Bob: "Chef Waller was the least abominable. She is your new standard. Dismissed."
Iggy (to Fe): "So... you're the new standard of excellence."
Fe: "Yeah I guess I am."
Iggy: "You don't sound very excited."
Fe: "I am deep down. But more pressure from that madman isn't exactly ideal.
Iggy: "If you think that's bad imagine growing up with that mentality. And apply it to everything not just cooking."
Fe: "Oh, you're Iggy Pancakes."
Iggy: "Yeah.. just don't hold it against me. Listen, Fe, don't sweat it about Bob. I promise his only concern is food. Here put your number in."
Fe: "Why?"
Iggy: "I've already watched my dad drive one woman to drinking. I can't in good conscience let you go down like that."
Fe: "Wow. Pushy and already divulging childhood traumas. You don't waste time, Iggs."
Iggy (laughing): "I can already tell we're gonna be good friends."

This is an unused screenie of Penny Pizzazz and Marcus Flex. Feel free to save the screenshot (Dropbox link below) and follow along with the instructions, or play around with it and do your own thing! I’m going to keep the instructions as simple as possible; hopefully they make sense.
Note: My process is kinda involved, but it’s a relaxing hobby for me. You do not need to do all of these steps! If the process doesn’t bring you joy, don’t bother!
I’m using procreate, but I’m also a photoshop user. You can use any software that has layers and blend modes :)

1. Let’s start with shadows. The first step is to create a new layer. Put the blend mode to “multiply” (this darkens anything you draw on the layer). Then select a soft brush. We’ll start with Penny’s face. Use the eyedropper tool to choose a shadowy color of her skin (hold your finger on the color you want).
2. Decide where the light will be coming from (we’ll be placing it behind them on the top left). Deepen the shadows already made by the game, and add some shadows opposite to where the light will be. Choose a darker color to match each area you’re drawing on (Penny’s hair, her shirt, Marcus’ skin, his sweater).
When you’re finished drawing the shadows, go into your layer and lower the opacity. Less is more!
3. Choose the eraser (set it to soft brush). With a light hand, soften any shaded areas that are too harsh. Basically you want to blend the shadow with the skin using the eraser. You can also use Gaussian blur!
4. Let’s add some background lighting. This will also be our guide as we add bolder highlights in the next steps. Make a new layer and set the blend mode to “add.” Take your soft brush and a yellowy-orange color, and draw some glowy light coming from the top left.
Lower the opacity and take the eraser and erase much of the light on the right side of Marcus, and erase a bit of the light on their skin/ hair/ etc (like we did with the shadows). You can use Gaussian blur here too!
Note about lighting and highlights: experiment with the color of light, because some will look better depending on the environment and the sims skin tones. Because Penny and Marcus have dark skin, a bolder or darker yellow/orange will look much better than a pale yellow.
5. Let’s start adding more highlights! Make another new layer and change the blend mode to “add.” Choose a yellow-orange and paint some highlights on Penny’s hair, her left shoulder, her chest, cheekbone, and the left side of Marcus’ face. I made the image on the left a different color so you can see where I put the highlights.
Lower the opacity, and use the eraser or Gaussian blur to blend.
6. More highlights! Make a new layer and set the blend mode to “overlay.” Overlay lightens while adding color. I use “light pen” for any outlined highlights (the outer left of Penny’s hair, Penny’s shoulder, the left side of Marcus’ face), and I use a soft brush for the rest. Lower with the opacity, and use the eraser to blend.
This is a great time to play around with other highlight colors! I’m sticking with yellows, so I chose a peach color. Note: the red is to show what I drew.
7. We’re going to import a light leak overlay, and set the layer to “screen.” Then take your eraser, and erase any areas where you don’t want there to be too much light (red areas).
Finally, I’ll merge the layers together and bump up the highlights by going to adjustments > curves. Then I’ll add noise, and a vintage dust overlay. Sometimes I do more than this, sometimes less. I also like to draw hair strands and stuff, but that’s a whole second tutorial.

artist in denial of being depressed: omg this 2 month long art block has been crazy... sorry i haven't updated any of my fics in a long while! it's just been super difficult to daydream! so weird that i've lost a little bit of passion for my current comfort character and ocs... this couldn't possibly have any implications or alternative explanations
BEWARE of Residential Rentals!
I went to place a lot yesterday and my entire savefile suddenly corrupted. I realized it was corrupted because after I placed any lot, all of the other lots in my game reset to the original version of them. They all looked fine from world mode, but once loaded into any lot the issue persisted. Read more about these issue here.
I rolled back the save and it was fine so I decided to try and remove the entire pack and see what would happen. After removing the pack, I could place new lots and the game was fine. Which meant for me the issue is FOR RENT.
I was nowhere near the limit of residential rental lot nor did I use any cheats to have more than six units per lot. I was not placing a residential lot when it corrupted. So far it seems fine to add the pack back and just avoid the lot type.
TLDR: Removing FOR RENT prevented my savefile from corrupting when placing new lots. The steps I used to stabilize my savefile are below.

Steps to remove For Rent:
1. Use this to load the game without For Rent. 2. Follow this if you end up with two different Tomarang Worlds when you load the pack back into the game. I did. 3. Remove each residential rental lot. I set them all to residentials. 4. Replace all of your household outfits that got messed up. Otherwise some sims will be nakie.
Tips:
Backups: Helps if you have backups of your households and lots in your trayfiles. Fixing outfits: If you don't care about relationships you can delete and replace or use MCCC to copy and paste the outfits back on the sim. Or if you have a dresser file, run that for new outfits.
This has happened to me a few times, but this was the first time I decided to see if I could role back the game, avoid the corruption, and restore my savefile.
More incorrect quotes because I find these to be hilarious.
