Sobbing crying screaming over the adorable hair jiggles

In all seriousness, I really do think it’s entirely plausible that Kazuki and Rei can (and/or will) fall in love with each other, but I don’t necessarily see them as suddenly looking at each other with attraction and having that “why am I having these thoughts about another man?!” panic moment that seems to be a common trope in anime whenever gay romance is involved. Their relationship isn’t that simple. No, I think it will happen over time in a more subtle way. And I feel like we’ve already begun to see this unfold.

In episode 7, we learn that Kazuki struggles with his grief of losing his wife and unborn child, all while feeling overwhelmed and under-appreciated for all he does for Rei and Miri. He then tries to have a night of fun by gambling and surrounding himself with women, all things he would normally enjoy. But by the end of the night, he’s still miserable. Then he has the conversation with his sister-in-law, and we find out that he feels guilty about moving on and finding happiness for fear of forgetting his past love. But she reassures him that it’s okay to continue living his life. It’s what her sister, his wife, would want. And a small weight is lifted from his shoulders. And when he finally goes back home, and finds a sick Miri sleeping peacefully with a clearly-worried Rei sleeping at her bedside holding her hand, we see Kazuki gazing fondly at the two of them. The look on his face says “These two are my happiness.”

And I think that realization will continue over time. Now that Kazuki no longer feels as guilty about moving on, I think he’ll start to really see Rei as family. As someone he can build a life with. Someone he enjoys spending time with. Someone he truly loves and cares for. And a day will come when maybe he’s out running errands while Rei is at home with Miri, and a woman starts talking to him. Kazuki doesn’t think anything of it at first, but then he realizes she’s hitting on him… and surprisingly, he doesn’t feel any particular way about it. In fact, his mind instead wanders to “I wonder what Rei and Miri are doing. I better hurry back home.”

And Rei… he’ll start to open up more around Kazuki, and show his vulnerabilities. He’s already started doing this with Miri, but I think we’ll begin to see him telling Kazuki more about his past. Maybe not even in a dramatic reveal type of way, but more so in off-hand comments or random stories that he suddenly remembers. And without realizing that things have changed so much, he’ll find that he’s truly enjoying his life with Kazuki and Miri, that he can actually laugh about things and feel relaxed. And one night, as he’s trying to fall asleep in his bathtub, maybe he’ll struggle to get comfortable. So he instead finds himself going to Miri’s room and curling up on the floor next to her bed, and quickly falling asleep. Kazuki walks in to find him, laughs to himself, and without even thinking about it, picks Rei up and carries him to bed. Not Rei’s bed, though. No, Kazuki subconsciously realizes that Rei needed the comfort of having someone next to him while he slept, so without a second thought, he brought Rei to his own bed. And when he went to lie down next to Rei, he was careful not to get too close. He didn’t want to disturb him after all, and it’s not like he had any other intentions but to simply sleep near each other. But the next morning, Rei wakes up to find Kazuki’s arm around him. And it doesn’t even occur to him to move Kazuki’s arm. Instead, he just looks at Kazuki’s sleeping face, feels the warmth between them, and thinks “this… is nice actually.”

And eventually the both of them will realize that they would do anything to protect one another, do anything to make the other happy. And maybe one day they’ll start to see each other in a different light. Maybe Kazuki will begin to notice the way Rei’s eyes light up when he gets a new video game, or maybe he’ll see that one piece of Rei’s hair that refuses to stay in the ponytail and think “hah, that’s adorable.” And maybe Rei will start to compliment Kazuki on his cooking more because he knows it makes him happy, or maybe he’ll take Miri shopping to find the perfect birthday gift for Kazuki but ends up getting several things because this thing reminded him of Kazuki’s smile, and this thing is Kazuki’s favorite scent, and this thing reminded him of that inside joke they had, and this thing…

So instead of looking at each other one day and thinking “why am I having these thoughts and feelings about a man?!”, I think they’ll look at each other and think “this feels right. This makes sense. Of course I have these thoughts and feelings about him.” Because at that point, the love is already there.

That’s all the indication Kazuki needed to know what’s happening. What’s going to happen. He tentatively raised his arms, looking at the wall as if he could see what, or who was behind the wall.

He was there in the times of sorrow. As cold as he was back then, he didn’t leave. He stayed. He didn’t leave. That’s way more than what everyone did, and for that, Kazuki’s grateful.

Grateful that he stayed with him despite everything. Despite all the rules that he forced on him, all the critiquing of the other’s lifestyle, all the stupid decisions fuelled by his gambling addiction.

Sure, Kazuki only thought the other stuck around because of his cooking. Because he cleans the house and takes care of the laundry, but he likes to think that they’re closer now. That he cares now, not just about Kazuki, but about Miri too. That hopefully, with Kazuki out of the picture, he’s going to continue taking care of their little girl.

But Rei has always been hard to read, just like cats. maybe Rei will be fine. After all, they knew this was going to happen one way or another.

Miri isn’t going to like this. She may think that her papa left her like her mom, but she’s still too young. She forgot about her mom pretty quickly, so maybe she’ll forget about him too. Maybe, hopefully, he’ll only be a distant memory for her, so she wouldn’t have to bear the pain of losing someone

He regrets coming here today. He regrets not being prepared enough, that he didn’t put a better plan, didn’t prepare better for the mission, that he agreed on the mission in the first place.

But most of all, he regrets what going to happen next. How he’s going to leave his best friend, his partner, and his baby girl like that.

“Take care of Miri for me, will ya?” His smile was bittersweet, but he smiled nonetheless.

At least he got the time to say his last words.

A loud bang resonated around the warehouse, and everything went black.

“Take care of Miri for me, will ya?” That’s all the indication Rei needed to know what’s going to happen.

He knew this was a bad idea. He knew that this was going to happen someday, but no matter how many times he told Kazuki he just never listens

‘This is the best way to do it’ he says. ‘You can’t act, so I have to do this’ he argued. ‘Careful, now. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that you care’ he teases as if it isn’t so painfully obvious that Rei cares.

Because of course he cares! How can he not when Kazuki’s the only one who didn’t mind living with Rei’s everything. That no matter how many times Rei attacked him when he was startled, he still approached him. That no matter how cold Rei was, he still talked to him. That no matter how much of a blunt, uncooperative, untrusting asshole he was, Kazuki still spent time with him.

He allowed Rei to stay with him. He didn’t care how messy Rei was, how he never helped around the house and always slept in the tub forcing Kazuki to stop showering in the mornings. How Rei never even thanked Kazuki for cooking him food, and yet he continued to do so. He continued to care for the house while all Rei did was play his video games. He continued to do these chores after Miri came into their lives, making them a lot harder.

Rei cared about Kazuki more than he cared about anything else.

Rei starts to move because how dare he try leave Rei after he infected him with these feelings. How dare he try to leave Miri like that after both her parents abandoned her. How dare he leave Rei to be the one to tell her how she’d never see her papa again.

He should be here to get exasperated at the amount games and plushies Rei bought, and the colors Miri painted on the walls. He should be here feeling joy at Miri’s happiness whenever she eats his food and done with Rei’s pickiness. He should stand beside Rei crying as Miri entered her first day of school and as she grew up to graduate and live the life he always wanted and be happy with them as they grew old enough to retire this life-

But before Rei could even take one step towards the warehouse, a loud bang resonated from there, echoing through their earpiece. All Rei saw at that moment was red.

He’s going to make sure who pulled that trigger regrets it deeply.

Turns out I really like DJ War Crimes and his weird little relationship with the Cuttlefish family. Drawing that last one was a mistake cause it made me think of my own grandpa and I got emotional over my drawing tablet would not recommend.

Tones of bronze, gold, and silver spun around him, over him, as if he was in a structure that moved. A machine, alive with lights and flashing neon. Yuma blinked, confused as his scarlet eyes began taking in his surroundings.

It was cold. The constant movement, the twisting metal, let cool air seep in from outside… wherever outside was. Wherever he was.

Sweeps of noise, the trickle of water, and the clicking that timed so closely with the light’s glowing pattern that he almost thought there was someone pressing a switch (until a quick glance around the room told him no one else was around) made the hair on his arms stand on edge.

“Am I… alone?” Yuma chanced asking. A murmur of a giggle passed through the room and Yuma froze momentarily before decreeing the sound just another part of his imagination.

That was, until it started up again, this time echoing around the hollow room, making the few objects around him shudder with the vibrations. Yuma’s fists clenched as he slowly slid off the hard metal table, crouching to the ground, eyes frantically searching for the source of the incessant giggling.

“You’re mine.”

It was the last thing he heard before he blacked out.

Inside you are two wolves.

One says that Rei and Kazuki's relationship is not any less meaningful as platonic life partners. There are more ways to be a family than brothers or lovers. It'd actually be very nice to see two unrelated and non-romantically involved men raise a kid together and navigate parenthood.

The other wolf says "okay but I'm queer and would like to see them Smooch."

Episode 8 post-credits scene (ya know, if it had one)

Rei sat there, staring at the birthday cake and the candles he just blew out. In the background, he hears Kazuki attempting to wake a sleeping Miri. “Miri~ come on now, don’t you wanna eat some cake with Rei Papa? Ah, I guess it is pretty late. Oh well, let’s get you to bed then.” Kazuki gently scoops Miri up from the couch.

As he carries Miri to her room, he walks by the dining table and catches a glimpse of Rei, who’s chewing on a bite of the cake. But then he sees something he’s never seen before. There are tears building up in Rei’s eyes. Rei takes another bite of cake, seemingly unaware of the look on his own face. Kazuki walks toward him. “Hey~ what are you doing? It’s just cake, no need for the water works. You should know by now that Miri cares about you.” Kazuki reaches out his free hand and brushes the stray piece of Rei’s hair out of his face. “And I suppose I care about you too, you idiot.” Kazuki leans down and plants a kiss on Rei’s forehead. “So don’t make us worry like that again, asshole!”

Kazuki walks away with Miri in his arms toward her bedroom. Rei is dumbfounded, but a slight smile brightens his face. Kazuki whispers to Miri in the distance, “I can’t believe he cried! Miri you really missed out hehehe”

“Hey… let’s all sleep together tonight.”

Kazuki stops and turns to look at Rei. Rei’s cheeks are flushed ever so slightly. With a sly grin, Kazuki says in a teasing voice, “Is that your birthday wish?”

“Yes.” No hesitation. Kazuki chuckles, “Alright, as you wish. But go wash up first, you’re filthy! Whose blood is that anyway?! It better not be yours!”

Rei smiles to himself. I think this is happiness.

So, my @underfell (Undertale AU) imagination went crazy and made this one giant comic. It began with wondering why Sans didn’t outright kill Frisk right away and sorta played as a guardian(?) throughout Frisk and Flowey’s journey. In my headcanon I imagine Toriel had something to do with this even in this au. XD

Once Sans is sure no one will be able to kill Frisk, what will he do? (Extra pic below!)
