Whether or not he respected her or she respected him, their relationship was genuine. He offered her a reassuring smile before he died, and for someone like Adam, who appeared void of humanity, that was very human of him.

This is grief and rage. This is why Vaggie should’ve killed Lute. You’ve taken the most important person in her world. Someone she loved. Vaggie’s gonna regret that cruel mercy.
