This is Chai, my very young Brazilian rainbow boa. I took him in because he was a problem eater, only eating around ten times in as many months, but in the time he’s been in my care, he’s developed a crazy feeding response and a mischievous little attitude. 

This morning, I found a lump about two-thirds of the way down his body. I called the vets at 10am, had an appointment a little after midday, and by the time I got there, the lump had doubled in size. At the moment, they’re worried it might be a kidney issue (ruptured kidney or kidney stones) or, and here’s the fun part, possibly cancer. 

Either way – it’s expensive! People following my blog will know that we’ve had a tough time lately (I had to move, snakes and all, three times in less than three months, and then basically had £500 of rent stolen from me) and the tests alone are going to cost £180 ($276), and the consult today was £45 ($70). That’s to say nothing of medicines and procedures he’ll likely need. I’d say £400 ($613) would be a very low estimate. 

Chai is such a great little guy, and I’d be heartbroken to lose him. He’s barely a year old, and with the right treatment, he could live into his twenties! If you’re able to, please consider donating to Chai’s vet bills. Absolutely anything would help us at this point, reblogs included. Thank you!
