Happy Chinese New Year, the year of the dragon!

This is the mighty ghost dragon Hua Cheng, whose rain is made of blood. He turned into a dragon after accidentally swallowing the red coral pearl he stole from the prince. Since then, he's been seeking the lost god to give him his pearl and blessing back.

Happy Mask Collector

A happy birthday to Happy Mask Collector! I hope you like it!

His hours were hung beside the doors of the clock tower, the smiling salesman obviously taking over the empty space for the three days he claimed to be in town. Link figured that whatever it used to be used for was beyond him, the stones that made up its walls overgrown with moss and the waterwheel frozen in time.

Between the hours of 11:00 am and 10:00 pm, the Happy Mask Salesman laid out his wares, every single one of the masks that were strapped to his backpack. Link, who had some time to kill waiting for night to dusk, stepped in through the large wooden doors at a quarter to 4.

The Happy Mask Salesman lit up when he saw Link enter, eagerly bouncing with happiness at the prospect of a sale.

“Mister Link!” The man said. Link didn’t recall giving his name, even when they first met a few cycles ago. Link decided that he’d rather assume he didn’t remember than think about how the salesman could possibly know.

“Anything stand out to you?” The salesman asked. “As you can see, my collection is vast. My customers often find it hard to choose, but I tell them these kinds of masks have a habit of having a voice of their own. Sometimes the right one just…calls out to you.”

Here's my Puqi Shrine Secret Santa 2023 gift for Sawami!

Summary: A few months after their marriage, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng decide to move from their flat in the city to a house in the countryside. It’s a big change, and also the perfect opportunity for Xie Lian to fix an issue that he’s been noticing for a while now. Wishing to start their new life with the right foot, he devises a plan.

I ruminated how to write my take on "Hua Cheng finds Xie Lian in the coffin" for so long, that I ended up finding all my ideas on other people's fics. Well, all but one, which is this one.

紅簾前 "Before the Red Curtain" - song from TGCF donghua Season 2 Episode 2 (lyrics translation)

This is the song played when Hua Cheng taught Xie Lian to roll dice. Some of the lyrics from this song are kind of abstruse, so there're definitely elements of my interpretation, see lyrics translation below:

The first trailer of the Mononoke movie dropped a few days ago, allowing us to see Kusuriuri's new design. I didn't think I could love this man more than I already did, but here we are! I'm praying I can watch the movie on theatres.

I'm considering making the whole cosplay, we'll see. In the meantime, have this take on the new make-up.

It took over ten days for Xie Lian and Hua Cheng to walk from the inn where they met with the emperor to the entrance of Mount Tonglu. What happened during that journey? And most importantly, what would've happened if things had gone differently during that journey?

Expect folk stories told by Hua Cheng worshippers, Xie Lian figuring out stuff he could've realised one hundred chapters ago, and a Ghost King simultaneously hating on his child-like appearance and getting the best out of it.

I watched Good Omens 2

No plot spoilers, but! There was only one song by Queen in this season (as far as I could tell).

I know I wasn't the only one who thought about other songs by Queen that would've fit this scene or that, and also not the only one who's ruminating about the songs that could be featured on the next season.

I've seen some devastating fantastic suggestions like The Show Must Go On, Who Wants To Live Forever, and of course, Love Of My Life. For the latter, I offer the lesser known alternative Nevermore, but honestly, there's only one song going around my head for s3:
