People make fun of snw for having tarsus iv survivor on Jim’s Starfleet bio but honestly all of this was public information in conscience of the king. There are two scenes dedicated to Jim and Spock separately finding out Kevin Riley was one of the other survivors. It’s public information but the public doesn’t care.

Yes it’s fun for fanfiction to have the tarsus 9’s names redacted from the survivors lists and to have Jim go out of his way to keep that shit private but the reality is that the massacre is regarded by the galaxy at large as a horrible thing that happened, but that it was one of many horrible things and the case is closed.

Bones trying to brush Spock off when Spock is explaining everything he’s learned, and Bones’ response to Spock bringing up Kodos had his own theories of eugenics, are the most telling here.

“Unfortunately he wasn’t the first.”

The general public know the basic details of what happened, and the person who orchestrated the crimes seemingly died. And despite no positive ID on the body, Starfleet stopped looking into it. Everyone wanted it to go away. They choose not to bring it up. I’d argue that’s part of the point. All of this is public data but almost everyone involved wanted it to die. Even some of the victims. (Jim). But the thing about an untreated wound is that it can fester, and get worse until it’s impossible to ignore. And now you’re in a situation where 7 out of 9 survivors of a massacre are dead, all around the same time a company of actors performed in the area they lived.

Conscience of the King stands as a greater lesson on why willfully ignoring uncomfortable history will lead to people not learning from their parents’/ancestors’ mistakes and/or worse, make the same mistakes/commit the same crimes.

Kismet Harmony

Part 1, Part 2(You are here!), Part 3,

Alright, here's what I'm thinking about what our 4 boys do once they have to leave Branch behind with promises to be back with BroZone.

Hype is the one to point out they have no idea what John Dory even looks like. Boom says he probably looks like Branch. Trickee says they can just ask other people on the trail.

They talk to both giants and other trolls and every single one seems to either know of John Dory or know someone who does. They each make him out to be some feral mountain man.

“Are we sure we need him?” -Hype

“Yes.” -Trickee

“Then how do we find him?” -Boom

“Maybe if we play BroZone on full volume he’ll appear.” -Ablaze

Ten minutes later, sitting on a hill top, Boom cranks a boom box to full volume and plays ‘Perfect’

“It was a joke.” It works.

Rhonda comes bursting out of the bushes, scaring Kismet, and almost destroys the boom box in her excitement to get to it. John throws the door open, ignoring the 4 trolls who had tackled each other to get out of the way, and and loudly shouts he’s here and who is playing BroZone?

"Wow he does look like Branch."

Gonna work on part 3, and hopefully it'll be a bit longer, if anyone has any ideas/questions just toss them into my inbox and I'll try to get to them.

shikanaru headcannons

naruto would occasionally indulge in a cigarette, but only when he caught shikamaru sneaking out for a smoke

while naruto was in training to become hokage, he'd wait for shikamaru to finish his work, so they'd walk part way home together

shikamaru proofreads naruto's letters or notes because naruto is bad at spelling

when naruto would get into trouble as a kid, shikamaru would one-up his pranks so naruto wouldn't be the only kid getting berated by teachers

shikamaru pisses a lot of people off, and naruto finds it incredibly amusing

whenever shikamaru comes over, he always makes sure to stock up naruto's medicine cabinet, because no matter what beast inhabited his immune system, naruto wasn't bigger than food poisoning

naruto thinks shikamaru's worst flaw is flossing his teeth everywhere

naruto's canines nicked shikamaru's lips on more than one occasion

naruto makes shikamaru read things out-loud for him, because no matter the corny thriller or boring mission report, shikamaru's voice is smooth, and his reading pace is much more soothing than the weird content of shikamaru's literature

whenever naruto huddled into shikamaru's bed after a long mission, the only coherent sentences shikamaru formed included math equations and large words that mentioned infections and cellular structure — a lovely greeting in naruto's books

naruto had always wondered if his inability to process complex concepts hindered shikamaru from expressing himself, yet when he had brought this up, shikamaru argued that he did as much already, and that naruto was the best food for thought

their first argument was over socks

shikamaru copied ino's language sometimes, saying things like "i scored", "nine lives" or "in the seventh heaven", but naruto had never been able to decipher their actual meaning

shikamaru hates breakfast and naruto hates lunch
