The blade keychain is his weapon, he can shrink it at any size he wants. He keeps it like that so he doesn't have to carry it around all the time.

So for this AU, this happened with the whole DBK possesion thing with WBS. Wukong gave MK some information about WBS and how to stop her, of course there was a cost. MK, not listening to the last bit, rushed over to defeat DBK and WBS in one. As can tell, he was able to defeat or more of "eliminate" DBK and WBS. But of course during a big attack to destroy them, it costed MK's life..
