It’s not even Twitter, TikTok is saying shit like “just because your ship didn’t become canon” I am done. I talked about how it felt forced in Mike’s monologue and everyone kept on telling me “you ship byler stay mad” like it’s not about Byler it’s about how forced that monologue felt and how it felt like a Wattpad fanfic. These people are fucking annoying
mike and will get an n64 in 1996 and they play super mario 64 and argue about whether or not mario is just saying ‘so long, bowser” in an italian accent/in the mario voice or if he’s actually saying “so long, gay bowser” (link to what im talking about)
god will is so fucking intelligent, we dont talk much about that. going to the room and opening the stereo playing his favorite song in max volume and turning on the lights to get help? it didnt take him long to figure out how shit worked in the UD either, and we know it took an entire group in s4; considering dustin’s knowledge too. king shit
Scrolling through the Byler tag while listening to “Sweetest Pie” by Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa is a vibe not gonna lie 🥰
Comfort characters are just characters you want to comfort
Example: Will Byers
S4 is Stranger Things’ FNAF: Security Breach story wise. It feels rushed and underwritten, at least Security Breach can fix some things with the new DLC, but a show can’t sadly. So much hype for it, the trailers and interviews made us expect something more, and then nothing. Seriously S4 is the Security Breach of Stranger Things
Having Norovirus is so ass guys. Been reading Leon Kennedy fics and watching Resident Evil lets plays to cope. Just started to feel better and I stopped throwing up.
Guys please don’t get this. It’s actually so bad and I feel like I’m in Hell. Wash your hands and wear a mask cause I don’t wish this on my worst enemy 😭🙏
“Why would they have Byler get together in the last season?”
Babe, it took Jopper 4 seasons to finally kiss and it was in the finale. So I don’t wanna hear it
Again, I saw another TikTok where someone said the reason Mike apologized to Will in S4 was because he is using him to find El? 😟
Recently there has been a argument in the fandom about why Mike can’t say he loves El. With some saying he’s gay or he doesn’t love El that way or he doesn’t know how to say it.
I am a believer that Mike is gay and doesn’t love El in a romantic way, but I also believe that a argument made by Melvin fans is also true and that is Ted and Karen’s relationship affecting their children’s view of love.
Most of them argue that The Wheeler parents are why Mike cant say he loves El because they never shown love to each other. I do think they are right on the part about Ted and Karen’s relationship affecting their children, but I disagree how it has affected them.
It is true that Ted and Karen are in a loveless marriage, and that has been shown to actually affect Mike and Nancy. Nancy has been aware of this fact and she even repeats their mistake, Mike’s is more subtext but it with him dressing exactly like his parents in S3. (Karen’s yellow striped shirt and Ted’s teal shirt or whatever color it is).
This has shown that Mike and Nancy have been affected by their parents’ loveless marriage but it’s not because they can’t say it or show it, it’s because they are repeating their parents’ relationship. Thinking they are in love with someone, but in reality, they aren’t.
Nancy is aware of the fact that her parents don’t love each other. She has a scene where she talks to Johnathan about it but there’s an irony to it, because she is in a relationship where she doesn’t actually love Steve. Which is why she can’t say she loves him, because she doesn’t. The way that Ted and Karen had met and got married are kind of exactly like how Nancy is with Steve.
Nancy: My parents never loved each other.
Johnathan: They must’ve married for some reason
Nancy: My mom was young, my dad was older. But he had a cushy job, money, came from a good family, and started their nuclear family
Really shows how Ted and Karen only got together because of circumstance and not actual love. Because of expectations. Which is where Mike’s relationship with El comes into play.
Throughout season 1, Mike’s friends keep on telling him he totally is in love with El. Basically expecting him to love her, when he doesn’t. Mike may seem to not notice or really care about his parents relationship, but like Nancy, it has him unaware of doing the same thing. He doesn’t love El, at least not romantically. Which can explain why he can’t say he loves her, he thinks or thought this is what love is, but it’s not.
Stancy literally broke up because Nancy didn’t love Steve and could never say it to him. Which is literally what Mike and El are going through right now.
Mike and Nancy are repeating their parents relationships, it’s not that they can’t express love, it’s that they mistook their love for something that wasn’t and learned to fall in love with someone else. This season’s message is about going against conformity, which is literally Ted and Karen’s relationship, and to break through it. That is how Ted and Karen have affected Mike and Nancy.
I think the biggest proof for me is that Mike’s character changed drastically ever since he started dating El. He started to deny parts of himself to become something he wasn’t. Mike’s whole character arc in S3 was about him conforming and realizing that he doesn’t need to. He still struggles with this but that also shows that El makes him insecure. He loved to be himself when they were just friends too. Again, shows how Memcake is bones and that Mike is hiding his true self while Will doesn’t make him feel like that.
I use she/theyThe bisexuality is strong with this oneSonic fan dubs and Kurtis Conner are the only things I laugh at anymore
