Postcard with a small illustration of a horse drawn carriage. It was sent to the Prince of Wales, later King George V, by Empress Alexandra Feodorovna on behalf of herself and her husband, Emperor Nicholas II.

The message reads : 'Jan. 1/13. 1905. Darling Georgie, Nicky & I thank you & dear May ever so much for the charming books. It is so sad that we never meet now! We are remaining in the country this winter, as the air is so much better here than in town & Nicky can get out easier for walks here. With fondest love from us both to you two.
