Today is Queen Mary' 71th death anniversary. She passed away on march 24, 1953 at the age of 85, in Marlborough House, London (same house where George V was born)

Postcard with a small illustration of a horse drawn carriage. It was sent to the Prince of Wales, later King George V, by Empress Alexandra Feodorovna on behalf of herself and her husband, Emperor Nicholas II.
The message reads : 'Jan. 1/13. 1905. Darling Georgie, Nicky & I thank you & dear May ever so much for the charming books. It is so sad that we never meet now! We are remaining in the country this winter, as the air is so much better here than in town & Nicky can get out easier for walks here. With fondest love from us both to you two. Norman R. Morrison was an American anti-war activist. On November 2, 1965, Morrison doused himself in kerosene and set himself on fire below the office of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara at the Pentagon to protest United States involvement in the Vietnam War, leading to his death.
On February 25, 2024, Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old serviceman of the United States Air Force, died after setting himself on fire outside the front gate of the Embassy of Israel in Washington. Bushnell said that he was protesting against "what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers" and declared that he "will no longer be complicit in genocide", after which he doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire
