The reason you bleed out when you’re stabbed or shot is because blood is very skittish and easily scared. If it sees a knife, it’ll escape out of the stab wound in order to get away from the knife.
It’s only for lack of exit that blood doesn’t escape our bodies altogether. Blood only comes out of the regularly available holes when it’s really scared.
