Another reasons clones get unique hair cuts and tattoos on their faces (besides being individuals) is so when they look at their fallen brothers they don’t have to see their own face.

we talk a lot about the Jedi being the only group of people in the galaxy who consistently see the clones as people. but what if it goes both ways. if clones are little more than droids, then Jedi are the knights out of fairy tales and romance novels. the galaxy's perceptions and preconceptions are much like anakin's in tpm. the jedi are immortable infallible unkillable. they are paragons of virtue and light and intelligence. they are not people so much as concepts. legends. superheroes.

these people are as removed from the Jedi as they are from the clones. maybe even more so. the clones work with the Jedi every day. the clones see them make mistakes. simple human* errors. they see them mourn and rage and laugh. they see them try. so hard. they see them fail. they see them fall.

their Jedi are people. and the clones love them all the more for it.

Carmen Argenziano

I’m pasting this from Facebook, because I’m not strong enough to write it again. 

I just found out that Carmen Argenziano passed away yesterday.

He played Jacob Carter on Stargate SG1, among a thousand other things. He was 75.

I’d seen him at a dozen Stargate conventions through the years. He always struck me as an incredibly sweet, intelligent and genuinely kind person.

Two years ago, I was at a small con in Missouri, without my girls (because they were too far away to get there), and the only friend I had there was the Stargate actors’ manager. He is and has been a friend long before he started managing the actors. He’s fantastic. His wife is, too.

Anyway, he asked me if I could do him a favor. Would I be interested in being a handler for him? After freaking out for a few minutes, calming the hell down, and realizing I had literally no one else to hang out with or anyone who even cared that I existed, I said yes.

I handled Carmen Argenziano.

I played it cool. I pretended I wasn’t freaking out, sitting next to him, being less than a foot from this man I’d never been within ten feet of, being behind the table instead of in front of it. I wasn’t a handler. I wasn’t allowed that access. I was a fan, and we stayed behind the wall and holy crap WHATTHESHITAMIDOINGWHYDIDISAYYES?

I was so fucking scared. 😅

That lasted about ten minutes.

There are so many words I could use to describe him. Talented. Kind. Compassionate. Brilliant. Humble. Gracious. Listening to him talk, talking to him and knowing he was listening to me, is my most precious fandom memory, and it will most likely remain so.

When I told him what I do for a living, he called me a “hero,” said I “save people” when they’re at their lowest, and he wished he could do that. When I told him he did, he didn’t believe me. He called me a “beautiful young lady,” and believe me, I am neither.

When they asked me if I wanted to do a photo op with the Stargate actors, for the first time ever, I said yes willingly. I don’t do photo ops. Even if I do, I either give them to my friends or I rip them in half and only keep the part that isn’t me. But that day, I did it because of him, because I knew he’d be in it, and that would make me strong enough to do it. And he was in that picture. He was right next to me, with his arm around me, and it felt so much more real and genuine than any other op I’ve ever done. It’s the only photo op I’ve ever framed and hung on my wall.

I watched and listened to him talk to a lot of people that day, and he did the same with all of them that he did for me. There was one girl who walked up, and she’d been lurking around the back of the room for a while, and when she came up, she was shaking so hard. Her voice was wobbly. She was so scared. And I remembered being her, and being that scared, because, honestly, I’m always scared at cons. Fucking terrified. And she was me, and she was standing there, and he talked to her. For close to fifteen minutes. And, yes, I was supposed to shoo them away after two or three, and I knew that, but I couldn’t. Because he wouldn’t have wanted me to. And with every word he said to her, she stood a bit straighter, and she stopped shaking, and her voice got stronger. And when she walked away, the smile on her face was real and beautiful and enormous.

I looked at him, and I said, “You know you just made her entire year, right?”

And he said, “No. She just made mine.”

And now I’m crying. Get it together, bri.

Anyway, yeah. This is an enormous loss, not only for the Stargate fandom, cast, crew and community, but for this world. But for me, in a way the passing of a celebrity has never been. Because he told me I was beautiful, and he knew my name, and he talked to me.

Rest in peace, you beautiful young man. I’ll miss you.

BEYOND obsessed with this house in fort worth, texas i mean

okay pretty normal, let’s look at the interior photos—

WHAT THE FUCK

here we see the first example of a pattern that will recur throughout the house, which is that once your eyes adjust to the bonkers dictator chic marble-and-gilded-everything, you notice some pretty egregiously shoddy workmanship. look at how that baseboard intersects with the outlet. look at how the marble… uh, thing on the wall (i was gonna call it a fireplace but it’s not a fireplace, i have no idea what that is) has gaps and weird angles wherever two pieces meet. it’s like they’re trying to recreate versailles on an ikea budget

i… don’t hate the kitchen. i mean, obviously it’s ugly and #toomuch and there was zero effort made to match the very modern appliances and sink to the cabinets, but still, i’m a sucker for a pass-through and a big sink with a window above it.

this ceiling Fucks but the wrinkly, uneven curtains and terrible caulking around the faux-column in the middle anti-Fuck

why did we suddenly completely switch aesthetics. why is there an old TV set into the wall at floor level. why is there a tiny set of doors next to it. why does the fireplace look like an asset ripped from the original dark souls. i feel a sinister presence sucking at my soul the longer i look at this photo

i feel like whoever designed this monstrosity started with the dining room and then once they’d finished it realized they’d blown half their budget on just this one room. it’s so overdecorated that the gaudiness feels intentional, like it’s a statement rather than a side effect of genuine tastelessness. i can applaud that.

here we have the antithesis of the dining room. i don’t know what this room is supposed to be but i hate it. i’m pretty sure everything in this photo literally came from ikea. there is a lack of commitment here and it is rancid

ladies, gentlemen, distinguished colleagues, we have now hit the cornerstone of any great tacky real estate listing: the heart-shaped bathtub! this one gets bonus points for being next to a gilded mirror and surrounded by bright red damask wallpaper. as a bathtub i’d give it a 1/10 because those angles look incredibly uncomfortable, but as a place to shoot my lover through the heart while wearing a gauzy fur-trimmed bathrobe before fleeing with our ill-gotten fortune i’d give it a solid 11/10

here we are with the lack of commitment again. this literally looks like the kitchen in my college dorm but with a weird fringey lamp and some curtains that are absolutely too long for their windows

again, the mix of styles here is just killing me. half damask wallpaper and carved wall panels, half normal-ass bathroom? really? isn’t there anything truly unhinged left in this house? anything truly opulent, decadent, off the chain, extravagant, gaudy—

THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT BAY BEE!!! THAT’S MORE THE FUCK LIKE IT!!! COMMIT! TO! THE! BIT! GO BIG OR GO HOME! IF YOU’RE GONNA STICK A CEILING DOME IN THE FOYER OF YOUR SUBURBAN TEXAS HOUSE IT HAD BETTER BE TWELVE FEET IN DIAMETER AND PAINTED WITH DOZENS OF FLOWERS OR ELSE WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE??

and finally, to close out the show, a reminder that this entire acid trip of a real estate listing took place in an ordinary, modern single-story house in texas, one with a backyard and utility boxes on the exterior walls and neighbors who may be blissfully unaware that they live mere feet from a yawning pit of madness.
