Does anybody ever get like a whole scene dropped into their head at one time and you have to write it down quickly before you forget it? For that, I do a kind of short hand where it’s just dialogue and very minimal descriptions. Does anybody else do that? And if you do, how do you stay motivated to actually turn it into a polished scene?
No wonder
With the end of Unus Annus only a day away, everyone is gearing up for the final 12 hour livestream. Given how dedicated this fandom is to watching every video, I imagine a lot of people who’ve never powered through long live streams will want to watch the full 12 hours. As someone who routinely watches 3-6 hour livestreams and occasionally watches 10-12 hour ones, I figured I’d share some advice.
You will be exhausted. This isn’t so much a tip as it is a statement of fact. Doing anything for 12 hours, even if it’s just watching a livestream at a computer, will leave you exhausted. It’s better to expect and accept the exhaustion than to feel like shit later in the stream. For me, the exhaustion usually kicks in around the 7 hour mark, and depending on how good you are at sitting still, the exhaustion for you might start sooner or later.
Watch comfortably. This is something that a lot of people might over look. Once you choose a place to watch the stream, that’s most likely going to be where you watch the entire stream, so find a place that is comfortable for you. Some people might want to watch on their phone in bed, others at a computer desk, and others on a tv.
Have snacks and drinks with you. 12 hours is a long time, so you will probably get hungry as thirsty. You won’t want to get up from the stream once it starts, so having snacks and drinks right beside you will make it much easier. Personally, I recommend a full case of water bottles or juice pouches and a large bag of your favorite chips. Cookies and candy are also good snacks to have on hand.
Go to the bathroom early. It’s like a long car ride, even if you don’t feel like you need to go, you’ll be happier than if you end up needing a bathroom break within the first hour.
Keep the lights on. Obviously, this is difficult if your watching in a shared family space, but this stream is going to run late through the night for a lot of people. Watching a livestream in the dark is going to make you feel much sleepier than if you keep the room nice and bright.
Eat a good breakfast/lunch/dinner before hand. It’s likely going to be difficult to have a proper meal during the stream, so fill up your energy as much as you can.
Know your limits. Some people just can’t watch a 12 hour livestream. That’s not something to be ashamed of. It’s a huge push and achievement to get through one, so if your body is telling you to quit and continued watching makes you miserable, it’s okay to tap out. This goes especially for people in Non-US time zones. All nighters are no joke, and it won’t be fun if you are hurting yourself to watch this.
I hope these tips help, and if anyone else has personal tips, feel free to add on. If you make it through the stream, congratulations! If you can’t, I can add you to a list of people that I plan to send a recording of the stream to. I just want everyone in this community, especially the younger audience, to have fun and stay safe.
