Jacen Day - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Here is a new Wolfwren one-shot featuring Jacen and a little trip to Mandalore. Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole story the link will be at the end!

Sabine landed the shuttle in Home One’s hangar. She opened the ramp. From the seat beside hers, Shin asked:

“So, how old is Jacen now?”

Sabine frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“Isn’t it his birthday?”

“Not quite.”

It was Shin’s turn to frown.

“But you’ve been calling today ‘Jacen Day.’”

Sabine glanced back into the shuttle. Since Jacen seemed late, she had the time to explain:

“After the Battle of Jakku when Hera thought she was going to die, she really wanted to spend more time with Jacen. But the New Republic kept her quite busy. So, for his birthday, she came up with Jacen Day. Every year, we all give him a ticket that he can use whenever he wants to do whatever he wants with us. This year he went to Ryloth with his mom, and to the beach. He got a piloting lesson from Zeb. Ezra took him to get a crystal for his own lightsaber. Which leaves only me. So today is Jacen Day.”

When she still saw no sign of the boy, Sabine frowned and stood out of her seat. Shin waited another beat before joining her. They stood at the edge of the ramp, surveying the busy hangar.

“Are we early?” Sabine asked herself.

Jacen burst out from one of the elevators and ran up to the shuttle. Hera followed at her own pace as she called:

“Jacen, they’re not going to leave without you.”

Christmas at Hyde Park - a RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my Christmas fic! It’s just a whole lot of family fluff, so I hope you’ll enjoy it! If you want to read the whole thing, the link is at the end! Happy end of years celebrations!

The toy store was packed with people, and Ruby almost lost Leti twice into the crowd. Leti was fighting with a pile of boxes. George wanted a train set for Christmas, but of course, they had to come into multiple boxes. Every time Ruby suggested she took a few boxes, Leti practically fought her off.

"I can carry a few boxes."

Still, the train station threatened to fall off the wagon, and Rub caught it just in time.

"What else do we need?" she asked, wanting nothing more than to leave and move on with their Christmas shopping.

"He wants a game of jacks to play with his friends and Tic thought he might like a jigsaw puzzle."

"And you sure you can afford all that with Mr. Fix-It's pay?"

Leti glared at her older sister.

"He got a Christmas bonus. Not everyone can live at the expense of a rich white girl."

Ruby rolled her eyes. She had a job and it paid well, she wasn't some kept woman who spent her days in the kitchen.

"I was gonna suggest I buy one for him."

"I don't need the help."

Still, Leti ground her teeth in front of the cash register and paid for her son's Christmas gifts. They left with heavy bags into the cold Chicago air. It was the last day of November, and already people were rushing from shop to shop in search of the perfect gift.

"I don't get why you don't want my money anymore," Ruby said as they walked down the street. "It was good enough for you before."

"Maybe because you kept complaining that I was leeching off of you."

"I complained when I didn't know what it was for. Now I know it's for my nephew, mostly. If you need some, I can lend it to you, it's not a problem."

"I don't need your money. I've got the money from the house, and Tic's got his job. Plus, I don't want to owe anything to Christina."

Ruby shook her head. She hadn't volunteered any of the blonde's money, although she knew Christina wouldn't care if she asked her.

"Are you gonna get Tic anything?" Ruby asked, deciding it was better to change the subject.

"Besides my love and time, you mean? He needs a new belt. And you? Got any idea?"

Ruby sighed. She always struggled to find the right gift for Christina. What could she gift to someone who could get absolutely anything she wanted at any moment? She'd given her records and sweaters the previous years. Christina listened to the records and she wore the sweaters, but it didn't feel special enough, Ruby thought. Not that the blonde minded. It wasn't that Christina hated Christmas, it was that she didn't care about it. Before Ruby, she hadn't celebrated since her mother's passing.

"My love and time?" Ruby replied.

Leti chuckled and the two sisters continued down the street to a man's clothing store. While Leti looked for a belt for her husband, Ruby looked at the shirts on display. Would it be weird if she bought a male's shirt for Christina? One she could wear as William? The blonde had a drawer full of clothes she wore as William, but none Ruby had ever bought for her. With a sigh, Ruby thought she would just buy another woolen sweater for the blonde.

Leti paid the belt and they walked on.

"I'm glad you're taking care of dinner this year," Leti said. "Don't forget to make gingerbread for Georgie."

As if she could forget, Ruby thought.

"Don't worry, he'll have a whole army of gingerbread people to eat."

Vacation at Lanupa - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I wrote a crossover between Skeleton crew and Wolfwren! It's just as fun as the original show but with our favorite girls to supervise the kids (or at least try to). Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole chapter the link will be at the end!

Raising a kid – even a smart kid like Uschi – took a lot more energy that either Sabine or Shin had assumed. A year had passed since they’d decided to take care of her, and already Sabine felt ten years older. It seemed others had also noticed her tiredness. When her birthday came around, her family gave her a weekend at a spa and resort. She obviously took Shin with her, and while Uschi begged them to come to – puppy eyes and pouts and all – for once Sabine didn’t feel bad leaving her behind. The resort did not accept children, so Uschi had to stay with Hera.

Lanupa was a large, cold planet covered with mountains. If the coordinates leading to the resort hadn’t been so precise, Sabine knew they could have spent the weekend searching for it. They were almost there when two security drones came to guide them.

“Welcome to Lanupa, A neutral planet where all are welcome if they keep the peace. Violators will be shot down,” said the robotic voice that hailed them.

“They don’t joke around with security,” Shin commented.

“Please be advised that children are not allowed. Do you have a reservation?”

“Oh no, we have a reservation,” Sabine replied as she leaned back into her seat and let the auto piloting sequence take the ETA-class shuttle to the landing pad.

Beside her, Shin had sunk into her seat, arms crossed. Or maybe we do have a child, Sabine thought with amusement. It wasn’t that Shin didn’t welcome a restful weekend, but mostly that a spa was not Shin’s idea of relaxation. Slicing up a bunch of bad guys with her lightsaber was Shin’s idea of relaxation. Sabine had had to cajole her into coming with her – and mostly sell her the idea of all they could do in a big hotel bed without a kid in the vicinity – to convince her to come. Shin had wanted to stay and watch over Uschi, at first. Sabine suspected she also had a bit of separation anxiety. How things had changed.

Their shuttle was taken to a large, circular landing pad at the edge of the resort. Looking out the window, Sabine could see the star-shaped resort sat atop a snowy mountain, and the pools of steaming, volcanic water down below. As she waited for their ship to land, she wondered whether Krownest would make a good spa and resort. Turning her ancestral home into a resort would most likely get her on Bo-Katan’s bad side.

The shuttle landed with a shake, and Sabine unbuckled her seatbelt and went to pick her up their traveling bags. Shin took another second to get out of her seat before joining her. Sabine placed a hand on her cheek, drawing her close and not allowing her to step away until she had looked her in the eyes.

“Hey, stop pouting. You look like Uschi when she wants ice cream.”

Shut Up and Dance - a RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new story! It’s a childhood best friend AU where Christina’s parents die and she goes to live with Dora and Atticus. The link to the full story is at the end!

Christina sat in the hallway, in one of those uncomfortable plastic chairs. She'd sat in so many of those in the past few days that she'd grown accustomed to the discomfort. She was trying to focus on the book in her hands while ignoring that in the room across the hall, her future was being decided. Her next of kin was deciding whether they wanted to take her in or leave her to the system. She wasn't stupid, she knew that neither solution was ideal. But the ideal solution lay in the family vault on the other side of town.

She read the same sentence again for the fifth time. She looked up to stare at the door. There was a blurry window through which she could see her next of kin seated in a chair. She thought a blurry window was the most useless kind of windows. She wanted to see inside, she wanted to hear what was being said. She wanted to know all the reasons why her next of kin was going to reject her.

There was movement behind the window and Christina's attention snapped back to the book. When the door opened, she recognized the social worker smiling at her on the other side.

"Christina? Can you come in, please?"

Christina politely nodded and closed her book. She stood up, brushed her skirt, and walked into the office. The door was closed behind her. Another woman was seating in a chair, her next of kin. They looked nothing alike, Christina thought with surprise. The woman had dark skin, and dark, kind eyes. Her black hair fell to her shoulders. When she smiled at Christina, with such comfort and gentleness, Christina had to look away.

"Hello, Christina," the woman said.

Christina said nothing and simply sat in the other chair. The social worker explained:

"Christina, this is Dora. She's your only living relative. She's agreed to take you in. She has a son who is just about your age."

Christina nodded along at all the right places. She felt no relief or comfort at the idea. She simply accepted that this was how things would be now.

"Don't hesitate to call me if anything comes up," the woman said to Dora as they left the office.

"Thank you, have a nice day."

Christina followed silently her new legal guardian out of the building and to the parking lot. The car she led her to was not what Christina was used to. It was an old rectangular vehicle, the paint a sun-bleached orange. Christina sat at the back, her bag containing most of her belongings in the seat beside her. It wasn't all of her belongings, that would have been impossible to fit into a single bag, but it was the most important. Dora sat behind the wheel and drove off.

They stopped at a red light, and Christina could feel Dora's eyes on her in the rearview mirror. She glanced at her, and Dora offered her a smile.

"Miss Blake said you were a year ahead in school."

Christina nodded.

"Father asked that I skip kindergarten."

The light turned green and Dora drove off, joining the mid-afternoon traffic.

"If you want to visit your parents, you just have to ask me, alright?"

Christina frowned in confusion.

"Visit? But they're dead."

"I mean if you want to go to the cemetery to see them."

Christina's eyes fell on the streets outside.

"I don't want to."

A Kiss for a Gift - a Wolfwren Christmas fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! Merry Christmas! As advertised multiple times I've posted a Christmas one-shot set in my High School AU. Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole story the link will be at the end!

The Life Day Market of Capital City was the biggest in Lothal. The whole plaza at the foot of the central tower was taken over by lights, wooden chalets and all the Life Day decorations the place could handle, green and red and gold everywhere the eye stopped. People lined up for warm drinks and hot treats. Vendors displayed jewelry and paintings and socks, the perfect gift for your family on Life Day. And Sabine had had the terrible idea of letting Hera sign her up as a volunteer, again.

All the streets leading into the plaza had been closed off except two, the entrance and the exit. A banner hung above the entrance, welcoming everyone into the market. If it wasn’t enough, however, Sabine was the extra welcome. She sat in a tiny wooden box at the corner of the entrance, too cramped up to move. She was supposed to give additional information to the people, but she wasn’t even sure what information she could give them. There was no map to the market, it was made up of two concentric circles of cabins and impossible to get lost in. The time the market opened and closed? They had a big sign near every entrance for that. People walked by her without sparing her a glance, probably as confused by her presence as she was annoyed by it. She scrolled on her phone, draining the battery to keep boredom at bay. She’d brought a pad and pencil to draw but she barely had the space to move her arms.

At least she had avoided the role of one of the droids in the Santa Clause factory like the year before, she thought as Ezra brushed his way back to her, dressed in a poor man’s droid’s costume.

“Why did I have to be a droid?” he complained as he leaned over the small counter of Sabine’s booth.

“I don’t know what’s more cramped. This box or your droid costume.”

“It’s the costume, trust me.”

He tugged on the sleeves yet they continued to hike up past his wrists.

“Anyway, Hera is asking if you want a snack.”

Sabine sighed. The only privilege of working for the market was that they didn’t have to cue twenty minutes for a crepe. Still, with her legs cramping up and her elbows rubbing against wood all day, it didn’t feel worth it. And if the PA system behind her played that stupid Life Day song again, she was going to take it down herself.

Ezra stared at her, waiting for an answer. Her gaze migrated away from her brother to the familiar blonde who had just squeezed through the crowd at the entrance. A big smile appeared on Sabine’s lips as she spotted Shin. She waved at her. Shin gave her a small smile and brushed past the crowd to get to her.

I Feel So Unsure As I Take Your Hand - an Agatha All Along story

Happy @agathaallalongweek everyone! I'm kicking this week off with a witch school AU (part 1 of... you'll see ;) Here is the beginning and if you'd like to read the whole story, the link will be at the end! Enjoy!

Agatha wasn’t awakened by her teacher calling her name three times, but by Alice elbowing her in the side. She shot up and brushed the spit which had dribbled at the corner of her lips. Then, she realized that everyone in the small amphitheater was turned in their seat to stare at her.

“What?” she huffed.

“Your discipline for your final exam? Which one have you chosen?” her homeroom teacher, Miss Calderu, asked with obvious irritation.

Agatha stammered as her drowsy mind struggled to remember the choice she’d made. It wasn’t her fault Miss Calderu’s divination classes always put her to sleep.

“Song magic.”

Her teacher wrote down the answer and the whole room turned away from Agatha as the next young witch on the list was called.

“Jennifer?”

“Potion,” she replied from the first row of the class without missing a beat.

Agatha rolled her eyes. What a nerd. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and leaned back in her chair. Just one more month to drudge through, her final project to present, and then she would be free. She couldn’t wait to graduate from the Salem Academy for Witches.  Song magic was her specialty; there was no way she would fail her project. She knew she would get an excellent grade – which would compensate for those other classes, such as divination, where her grades weren’t so high – and then she was out of this place.

“Rio?” Miss Calderu continued to call.

Rio had been staring out of the window on the left side of the room, but she snapped back to reality quickly.

“Botany.”

Agatha sneered. Of course, miss perfect was taking botany, not that it mattered. Rio had such high grades in every class that she could have chosen anything for her final project.

“Alice?”

“Protection,” she replied, her voice echoing just enough in the quiet room to be heard.

Agatha gasped as she turned to her. Alice gave her a shrug then shrank under her gaze.

She only waited until they’d stepped into the hallway to shout:

“Protection?”
