Ask game: an au where All Might is Hit with a quirk that temporarily erases his memories up to the day before the sludge villain incident or so. He decides to bluff his way to the day and look for a successor without any potential bias. Then immediately picks Izuku again.

1 - All Might is surprised that he is teaching the First Years but he figures that it's because he sucks so much as a teacher he simply doesn't have the level to take care of Third Years. In any case, it's only been a year and a quick Internet research filled him in so he knows everything there is to know. But it is time to find a successor, for his time with OFA has become incredibly limited.

2 - He is first keeping an eye on the Third Year but a boy among the First Years keep drawing his attention. Young Midoriya is driven, is working his hardest to try and control his quirk, and he has every quality to become the new Symbol of Peace.

3 - All Might goes to Nedzu to ask information about Young Midoriya. He thinks he is very subtle about it why Nedzu naturally realizes on 0.02 second that All Might has some missing memories. He then trolls All Might about Midoriya being his secret lovechild. Just because he can.

4 - It takes a week of All Might both treating Young Midoriya to meals and being generally very dad-like for All Might to confirm that he was indeed being trolled. (Todoroki was living his best life during that time.) Unbeknownst to both Toshinori and Shouto, it's actually not different from how All Might is usually treating Izuku, hence why he didn't notice anything wrong.

5 - All Might offers Young Midoriya to become his successor. He is very surprised when Young Midoriya gives him a flat look and informs him he is one year too late since he already got OFA.
