Random bee behavior fact for those who wish to read, just because I feel like it and because it’s late and I’m stalling on sleeping:

Bumblebees may seem like passive, cuddly, and docile creatures, but they won’t hesitate to defend themselves if they feel as if their warnings aren’t being read or taken seriously.

I.e. the photos and diagram below, when a bee feels threatened they will raise one or more of their legs into the air, signaling to whatever or whomever may be bothering them as a message essentiality saying: “hey, back off, too close!”

If their defensive posture goes unnoticed or ignored, they may be pushed into defending themselves by stinging (which is also a stressful experience for not only one such as yourself, but also for the bee.) If you ever find yourself getting close to a bumblebee while taking pictures, walking close to them, or just admiring them, remember this posture! If a bee does this, it is simply asking you to take a step back as it feels it is being threatened.

Now you can understand and use this knowledge to your advantage if you ever come across one in the future. (Of course, because it’s very hard not to anthropomorphize animals, I do have to admit that they do look pretty cute when doing it. Just remember to respect them though!)

yellow is generally the population’s least favourite colour which is interesting to me. i have a theory that yellow is generally more appealing to people the Less saturated and deep it is, the more warm and less cool it is, and that faded pale yellow is more pleasing to the eye than mustard. can you all participate in a casual experiment and tag or reply with which shade you like best from this yellow shade chart. i’m hypothesising daffodil will be popular as an answer

I say this with my whole heart, please donate your clothes to women's prisons instead of thrift stores.

When these women are released, some have been incarcerated for 16 years. Nothing fits them, they are released with no money, and something to know about incarcerated women is that their family members are more likely to cut ties with them in comparison to incarcerated men.

An incarcerated woman said to me today that she's so scared because she will have no real outfits when she's released. She doesn't know what she's going to do.

If you're a man even to you, please donate your clothes to women's prisons. The women will be so happy to wear your clothes. Especially things like workwear.

You can look up your nearby women's prison and give them a call. Some of them have programs like clothing closets that people can donate to. I recommend contacting women's prison camps and minimum security facilities because typically these are the facilities that women get transferred to when they don't have as much time left on their sentences.

We need to better educate kids on the importance of animals that are typically hated because otherwise you end up with adults who think hating wasps is a personality.

One of my fondest memories is from when I was 17. I was going into a small town gas station convenience shop at night to buy an orange soda. I brought it up to checkout and the lovely and awesome transfem working the counter smiled, looked me in the eye, and asked “Do you want to learn how to open a bottle with a lighter?”

Of course I said yes, and then she let me take another orange soda that I could take home. That was the first and last time I ever saw her. I hope she’s out there living a good life <3

I am embarrassed to even ask for help and you all know that in almost 7 years of having this blog, I've never asked for anything, but my university is changing my major from next year on and this is the last chance I have to graduate and take my last semester.

Before the change announcement, due to my current financial situation I planned to take my last semester next year, but if I don't take it now, I will not be able to take it ever again. My only option would be to start all over from the first year on, and the five semesters that I already successfully took and paid off would be worth nothing and I would not be able to finish the course.

I'm a some 1.5k euros away from being able to pay it all off, and I don't have that money right now, even with my paycheck. Both of my dogs have had health issues in the past month and the vet visits wiped us out.

If you can help, please do. I appreciate every contribution. I totally understand if you can't, so please don't feel bad about it. Every reblog and share is appreciated and is very helpful as well.

I'd like to thank everybody who already contributed. You all are amazing and incredibly kind and have helped me beyond words. I'm really speechless at everybody's grace and kindness towards a virtual stranger on the internet like me.

NEWEST UPDATE: I need help buying the meds day by day currently, as I am often stuck with empty packages. Please share this and my newer posts that are pinned. We have been able to take care of this month’s medication, thank you to everyone who helped so, so much. The anxiety was absolute hell with trying to keep everything mentally together and I really didn't know what to do but everyone has chipped in to help keep my mom recovering for the year, I couldn't have done this without all of you and I truly, from the bottom of my heart am grateful but we still need help. I have never seen my mom look so scared when my grandma died as she was helping us so I wouldn't have to beg, and it's scaring me and we are still waiting for approval- we need to prepare for January’s meds because I have no idea how we are going to get through for the next couple of months, I still can't believe and express the amount of gratitude you all have helped in getting her the meds for this month. It has been life saving to my family as my mom is the glue that holds everything together.

This coming month, we will need 500$ after coupons have already been applied- I have developed a friendship with the pharmacist and am working directly with them, they let me buy a few pills at a time for her and we have already applied coupons but it still results to this amount monthly. If anyone can help, share this or donate, it all helps with giving me hope that things will be fine in the end. I just can't wait until she won't need these pills come this summer, as she only needs them for one year.
