I keep seeing "pro fiction" folks responding to fellow proshippers posts with things such as "I'm a proshipper and even I think that's gross to ship", "That game's character's designs are too realistic to ship or consider shotas", generally the common factor is "I'm okay with everything in fiction except this one thing that makes me uncomfortable"
Guy's! You are allowed to be profic and dislike certain ships, you are allowed to dislike realistic game designs! You are allowed to dislike ANYTHING that makes you uncomfortable, the problem is the shaming of other pro fiction folks.
If you are pro fiction, you are anti shaming towards ships!! in the end, it is fiction, which we all, as a community, have agreed to not harass others for
Help an old lady out - and by old, I mean I was there when fanfiction.net came online. I was there when the / meant slash/gay fic. I was there when ao3 came online after the “great” ff.net purge of explicit fics.
I was there when the deep magic was written, that’s what I mean by old.
Anyway.
When did “proship” go from meaning “pro” as in “I support this” to “pro” as in “problematic” - I’m serious here people. Because proship is supposed to mean “I support all forms of fictional shipping” but the tags and the communities are all for “problematic” and “dark” ships.
Don’t misunderstand me; I support all forms of fiction writing and consumption. I may have my own, personal triggers and preferences, but I’m the last person that’s gonna censor fiction. I just want to know when the tide turned.
When did proshippers become the so-called enemy, the problem so to speak?
Makes me sad.
This is a safe space. 🫶🏻
right, but then try rewriting this with literally any other comparison between media and irl crime
villain fans when you say that liking fictional murder is just as bad as being a murderer in real life
like what do you find so attractive about fictional murder? if you wouldn't commit murder in real life and risk going to jail and everyone hating you then what makes it morally and socially acceptable to find fictional, murderous villains attractive?
they're literally the same as real murderers, the height, voices, looks/appearance, (kinda varies) the personality, and since y'all LOVE TO SAY THIS for some reason, cannibalism as a metaphor for love
this is exactly what i mean when i say all villain fans are or will become murderers one day whether they wanna admit it or not.
this is also the same logic that homophobes/transphobes use to censor lgbtq+ literature and media portrayals because reading and enjoying those things and seeing them normalized in the media will turn their kids gay and therefore rotten in their eyes.
shit, you play violent video games? you're gonna kill people someday! your favorite character is mean and has abused people? well i guess you're just gonna end up being like that person. it's not like you could ever know the difference between fiction and real life or have the self control and self awareness to separate the two, that's impossible. that doesn't exist actually, b-because... it just doesn't, okay!?
these people fail to understand that liking something in fiction does not immediately translate to you condoning it in real life or becoming that way. it is such a strange concept to them.
PV really didn't need to have a whole toxic yaoi arc, tell Shadow Milk they were "meant to be", agree with Shmilk that he's his, and merge their God damn souls together but go off king. Love wins or smthn
fun fact! every ship is a "proship" because proship isn't a type of ship, it's just letting people ship what they want!
you know i would rather trust an adult proshipper with "disgusting" and "weird" kinks who clearly knows the difference between fiction and reality and not allowing minors to interact with them than an adult antis who stalks minors with rape and death threats because of fictional characters
