Y'all Know I’m A Sucker For Modern Aus, Also Known As “dæmons In Our Here And Now”

y'all know I’m a sucker for modern aus, also known as “dæmons in our here and now”

taking a photo of your dæmon falls in the same category as a selfie (dæfie? seldæfie?) but most people prefer taking selfies WITH their dæmons instead of individually, unless the situation calls for it like your cockatoo-dæmon hanging upside down somewhere or your elephant-dæmon looking so aesthetic against the sunset

y’know in snapchat how you have to customise a bitmoji to look like you and stuff? doing the same with your dæmon! of course those that are settled have it easier since there’s only one form they have to customise. unsettled will have to make an extra effort and customise every form their dæmon takes to add it on the sticker.

add more, come on!!

Incorporating Aphrodite into our daily lives: A Transformational embodiment approach:

Incorporating Aphrodite Into Our Daily Lives: A Transformational Embodiment Approach:

How as Priest, devotees, and other followers of Aphrodite can we most profoundly increase our connection to her while also venerating her?

It’s simpler then it sounds actually. But the most profound way I’ve found to understand and grow closer to a deity is to apply self discipline to imitate them and their values. In Aphrodite’s case we must examine her as a Goddess. What is she? At her core? She is love, unbridled and unrestricted love and beauty. She exist in all things that fall under this, in the delicate brush strokes of an oil painting, in the bashful smiles of new love, it is these things in which the Goddess resides. We can use this in our practice but choosing to project that energy.

When feeling emotionally triggered ask yourself, what would Aphrodite do? How can I apply love to this situation? Does it warrant the wrathful side of love? Or is there something that can be done to maintain or restore harmony with peace? Before acting ask yourself, is this loving? Does this express love to myself? Does the express love to others?

Show love. Tip 50% just because you can, send that text message, buy a gift, kiss your partner, compliment a stranger.

Show self love.

Go to therapy. Rest. Wear some perfume or cologne, take a shower for the feeling, exercise, compliment yourself anytime you find yourself insulting yourself. Set a boundary. Do shadow work. Meditate. Do positive affirmations as often as you can.

Create beauty.

Paint, sing, compose, draw, write, sculpt, even if you think you suck. Have a conversation with a friend. Tell a story. Clean your home. Light some incense.

Do you think the form of a dæmon is determined in part by the dæmon’s personality rather than just the persons?

I was going to answer this in the morning, but now I can't stop thinking about it lmao

I had never thought of it this way, but I actually think that might be the case. Even before the new daemon lore (introduced in TBOD) Daemons showed something of their nature and their human's rather than represent something, if that makes any sense (it might not). People in Lyra's world are born perceiving the message a daemon conveys about them and their human: they don't need to translate it into words, they simply see a daemon and their shape and make assumptions, or even get feelings, about what that person might be like. Very rarely these feelings are inaccurate (there's an example of this "mistake" in Serpentine, but Lyra isn't super observant, so she isn't reliable).

My point is, yes, I think a daemon's form is based on both personalities. I don't know if canonically I can 100% back this opinion, but the daemon lore is volatile and loose, so I think this is a decent take on them. Daemons, of course, don't show just personality but much more and it goes much deeper than just superficial emotions. They show spirituality and psyche, as well as their own nuances of all these things, so it's a bundle of force of nature, in my opinion.

Pan would be a decent example but I want to use the monkey, with his golden fur and his vicious behavior. The monkey, when violent, is the opposite of Marisa: she is a creature of appearance and etiquette, hiding her nature behind mask and lipstick and sweet words. The monkey is raw wrath, and he is obsessive and impatient. But, both her qualities and his qualities are present in each other: she is as animalistic as he can be and he can make use of sweet words and playing nice. His form shows who she is, who they are: beautiful and savage.

Now just to add some spice before I go to sleep: if this is really the case and daemons take on both personalities, it would be interesting to see Daemons taking a form that is much closer to the person's personality than their own, because they favour the human (who has the strongest physical presence). Having distinct personalities in this scenario could cause a daemon to resent their human, for having such a powerful influence in their own free will.

I love conflicting daemon/human relationship.

Being a Witch IS Political

Witchcraft and spirituality are inherently political. To embrace these paths without acknowledging their history and ongoing struggles is to reduce them to mere aesthetics. True witches—and spiritual practitioners—understand that the essence of these practices is rooted in resistance, justice, and transformation.

Historically, witches were the wise women and healers of their communities. They tended to the sick, midwifed births, and served as the keepers of ancient knowledge. Their craft connected them deeply to nature, the cycles of life, and the unseen forces that govern our world. These practices often placed them on the fringes of society, not because they were wrong or dangerous, but because their power defied the status quo.

These women (and men) were political figures simply by existing. They challenged patriarchal systems, capitalist greed, and authoritarian control. When they provided herbal remedies or midwifed safely outside the church's purview, they defied institutions that sought to monopolize power over life and death.

The witch trials of history were political acts, targeting those who threatened established hierarchies. Witches were scapegoated for plagues, famines, and dissent, often accused because they stood up for their communities, demanded justice, or refused to conform to societal expectations.

Even today, to identify as a witch or spiritual practitioner is to take a stand. It is to honor the marginalized, to value the Earth over profit, and to seek balance in a world obsessed with domination. It is to embrace healing, not only for ourselves but for others and the planet—a deeply political act in a culture that prioritizes profit and power over people and ecosystems.

Being a witch means advocating for what is right, even at risk to our comfort or safety. It means standing against oppression, environmental destruction, and systemic injustice. To claim this path is to reclaim the legacy of those who came before us—the wise women, healers, and rebels who walked this path at great personal cost.

If you are drawn to witchcraft, spirituality, or paganism, understand that this is more than crystals and candles. It is a call to action, a commitment to live authentically and fight for a better world. Anything less is a disservice to the courageous souls who paved the way for us.

Entitled moms and dæmons

So I was browsing r/entitledparents the other day and I had a thought: Karens like these would be so much worse if dæmons became corporeal.

Think about it:

They don’t respect boundaries

They don’t think their kids should have to respect your boundaries

In some of them, the entitled parent goes so far as to break the law

They probably wouldn’t care about the taboo

“Your dæmon is really cute! Can my kid pet them?” Yeah, hell no!

It would be awful (and probably illegal, falling under the definition of “assault”) it would be especially bad for cute, but uncommon forms. (Penguins, small owls, primates, small wild cats etc.)

Especially if they became corporeal in our world, instead of a world like Lyra’s where they’ve always been corporeal. The taboo wouldn’t be a thing at first, and it would be a while before the laws were revised to classify it as assault.

Dæmon fun fact #2

Your dæmon will almost NEVER be your favorite animal. It’s a sad truth almost all of us have to learn to accept unless you sincerely can say you are your favorite person/kind of person. Very few people have that level of self love, and most of those who do… Likely aren’t being too healthy about it.

Bonus: not always but a lot of times our favorite animal tends to reflect the dæmon of our favorite kind of people. Not always, and usually it’s more of a theoretical preference than one gained through experience. When I did reveals for a couple, her favorite animals were dogs and coincidentally his dæmon was a dog too.
