So these are my ideas of future rodents!  Can you guess what each of them evolved from? I gave them some (half-assed) latin names and colorations inspired by both the original ancestors as well as the modern animals that inspired me to create them, so it shouldn’t be too difficult. Recently I have been watching Fullmetal Alchemist and I've bumped into some memes about the best and worst dads in anime. How would you sort out the best and worst dads in the Animorphs universe?

Walter. He's so kind and goofy and supportive with Cassie. He's the ideal sort of dad who both gives his kid lots of space to grow up in her own way, but is also willing to talk about whatever might be bothering her.

Steve. We know he's very sweet and forgiving almost to a fault, patient with kids and bratty adults alike. Loses a point for responding to Tom's personality swap in #1 with "sooomebody's got a giiiiiirrrllfriiieend" because that is not the way to get your teenager to open up to you about dating or alien invasions.

Noorlin. We don't know much about him — he's got one scene in #8 — but he seems like he's doing his best to support Ax during that single Skype call. Loses a point for jumping instantly to "you know you gotta kill Visser Three" upon learning that one of his kids is dead and the other is marooned, but overall seems solid.

Elfangor. Look, I get that most of his separation from Tobias isn't his fault, but his interaction with his kid consists solely of recruiting said kid into a war that Elfangor himself accidentally started. Not a great look.

Peter. Only ranks above Dan because he eventually gets his shit together, but I'm also unwilling to excuse how long he takes to get his shit together. It's not his fault that he's dealing with major shit between Eva's "death" and meeting Nora, but he nevertheless needs to do a lot more parenting of Marco and a lot less getting parented by Marco. Also, "book-smart man who never bothered to learn how to cook or clean because he's always had a partner to do it for him" is even less of a good look in the 19damn90s.

Dan. There is some excellent social commentary in Rachel's parents' (ex-)marriage around Dan getting 50% of the credit for doing 0.1% of the work. The scene in #7 where Dan brings junk food for dinner to try and bribe his daughters while Naomi rushes home from her extremely challenging job to discover her ex is here to announce that he's fucking off to some other state and won't even be around for one weekend a month anymore... that just speaks volumes about their respective parenting. Dan's not obviously absent like Elfangor, but in many ways his half-assed parenting (including through putting tough emotional decisions on Rachel so he doesn't have to deal with them himself) is worse than accidental abandonment.

Timing:

• New moon, preferably in an earth sign, especially Taurus

• Do not perform on a waning moon, any waxing moon will do as needed

• Perform at sunrise

Supplies:

• 4 sachet bags preferably black

• A shovel or spade

• Black yarn or twine

• Salt (1 tsp per bag)

• Cinnamon (1 tsp per bag, or 7 drops essential oil per bag)

• Obsidian (1 piece as per bag)

• 28 Rose thorns (7 thorns per bag)

• chamomile ( 1 tsp dry or 7 drops essential oil per bag)

• Lavender (1 tsp dry or 7 drops essential oil per bag)

• Patchouli (1 tsp dry or 7 drops essential oil per bag)

Preparation:

Place all components in sachet bag as described. Below,

In bag 1 place: patchouli, obsidian, salt, and 7 rose thorns

In bag 2 place: lavender, obsidian, salt, and 7 rose thorns

In bag 3 place: chamomile, obsidian, salt, and 7 rose thorns

In bag 4 place: cinnamon, salt, obsidian, and 7 rose thorns

Dig 4 holes for the bags at the 4 corners of the property. They should be deep enough that about 6 inches of dirt cover the bags after they are placed.

At sunrise,

Intuit which hole to begin with,

Go to it,

Meditate in the way which works best for you.

Place bag 1 in the hole.

As you do, say

Element of earth I call to thee, by the power of you and earthen patchouli, of protective rose and salt to halt the steps of my foes, upon this place the protection of the earth shall grow.

Cover the hole,

Move to the front door of the home and look up,

Simon’s friends in the movie were so mean to him. After he was blackmailed they left him on the sidewalk in tears. And were straight up RUDE. 

Simon’s friends in the book were so fiercely protective of him. After martin outed him they stayed by his side and glared at anyone who even looked at him sideways Abby nearly beat up some bully’s and they all stayed with him nearly the entire day to make sure he was okay.

Conclusion book Simon’s friends deserved all the love and movie Simon’s friend’s do NOT.
