Some headcanons for my sort of au where the boys powers are more like the bending in ATLA and it’s overall more dark:

- Kai and Jay got heavily scarred when they first discovered their fire/lightning powers but didn’t die bc magic elemental superpowers

- Zanes fingers got frozen off when die discovered his abilities, he can this use them but he has no feeling in them

- Cole works a little different bc he can’t summon his powers out of thin air and he actually needs earth to bend so he got the scars on his chest when he tried to bend rocks that were way too heavy for him (bc he likes to test his limits)

- The boys still take damage when using their powers but way less bc Wu taught them how to control them

- Esp the golden weapons help a lot bc they channel the energy and also help the boys keep a clear head when using them bc without the weapons they go into a sort of berserker mode (kinda like the avatar state when aang didn’t know how to control it yet) with glowing eyes and everything, with their weapons only their scars glow

- About the top right drawing: Even with training and then weapons accidents can still happen when the boys overestimate themselves and their abilities, here Kai got his arms burned again (which he’s embarrassed about bc he thought he’d overcome that) so Cole takes care of the wounds

no one ever tell me jay is stupid again look at this damn thing that he designed in only a few hours

Aftermath on the Jay’s retstarting the battery scene hc time

His body can take a LOT more electricity than the regular person. That doesn’t mean he’s immune. He can take lightning strikes and being used as a lightning rod, since Its fast and over with quickly. But the battery scene went on for a WHILE and there was a LOT of electricity constantly rushing through him with no breaks and a lot of power.

So why does he seem to be fine? Well he isn’t.

He can still move okay, though he’s a lot slower and his arms feel heavier and completely numb. He can’t feel anything in them, and his back feels numb as well. The rest of his body feels a little tingly as well, but he can move it.

He has nasty burns on the palms of his hands where he grabbed the battery, but he doesn’t know about it because of the gloves. His vision is also slightly blurred and foggy, and he’s nearly completely blind in his right eye. He hasn’t said anything about the vision problems because there’s bigger issues to worry about.

His powers are gonna be. A little wonky and slightly unstable. Also he defintely has a few internal burns but they aren’t particularly bad. He’s also gonna be twitchy for quite some time
