Can someone tell me the title of a oneshot(I think) where it's just reader playing with kaisers hair w ness then some time he gets it cut and dyed then reader stops playing w his hair and something fluff idkđ I forgot to have it saved on my chrome tabs
in which: kaiser needs to be reassured that you love him, even if it's just a fraction of how special you are to him.
warnings: 2.3k words, toothrotting fluff and minor angst, kaiser is intoxicated, mentions of alcohol and clubbing, insecure!kaiser, gn!reader, BAD WRITING and ooc!kaiser probably, established relationship, if this flops i will cry. here we love pathetic men.
a/n: fuck you @kruinka for birthing this. actually fuck you. that's the a/n. enjoy whatever this is!
itâs approximately 1am when your phone vibrates violently on the kitchen counter, disturbing the gentle, unrushed ambience of friday evening (or saturday morning) in your apartment. pressing the space bar of your laptop with a lot more force than necessary, the show you were watching pauses as you throw the blankets off you, the chill of the air seeping into your body with each step you take.
noticing the contact name, you accept the call readily, pressing the âspeakerâ option. immediately, you hear the noise of club music, people singing along and indistinct chatter.
âhello?â you ask, directly into the microphone.
ây/n?â nessâs voice returns.
âhey, whatâs up?â
âsorry for bothering you so late. were you about to go to bed?â
âno, actually, i was staying up. something the matter?â
âitâs kaiser,â the brunet-purple-haired boy tells you and your heart drops with anxiety, mind beginning to race with whatever your egotistical, narcissism-driven boyfriend could have got himself into.
probably tried to square up someone far more impressive, for all you know. did he break something? spit in someoneâs drink?
âi-itâs nothing bad!â ness reassures, âheâs just asking for you.âÂ
oh. thatâs not so terrible. âokay, but why?â
in the phoneâs proximity, you can hear someone stumbling and muttering in the background. thereâs an indistinct mumble of your name and ness confirming your presence on the other side of the phone, followed by an excited âreally?â from the mystery figure. you find comfort in the fact that you know itâs kaiser before the person even has to announce himself.
âsorry, heâs just asking for you⊠a lot,â the soccer player informs with a little hesitation.
before you can inquire further about it, kaiserâs voice echoes in the background. âlet me talk to y/n!â he sounds faraway, but you can imagine his expression regardless from just the desperately excited tone he has.Â
âi can tell,â you chuckle.Â
âgive me the phone, ness,â kaiser demands. thereâs a sentence of complaint from the midfielder and some (aggressive) rustling before you can hear your boyfriend loud and clear. âbaby!â he slurs.
âhello, kaiser,â you say, grinning stupidly at the sound of his voice.
âhi beautiful. are you well?â the blond sounds a little clearer now and the music seems to have diminished a little. he must have retreated to a âquieterâ corner of the club.Â
âas well as i can be at home. what about you?â
âiâm great now that iâm with you,â he murmurs, sounding more melancholy than usual, just ever so slightly. you dismiss the shift by blaming it on the alcohol, but thereâs a tug at your gut that tells you that the drinks arenât the sole reason.
you melt a little. âshouldnât you be dancing or something? why are you calling me?â
âi love calling you,â he whines. âplease donât hang up.â
âif youâre sure⊠iâm not too sure that a club is the best place to call though.âÂ
âi donât care. so long as iâm with you, anythingâs fine.â
you huff, tapping your fingers on the counter, trying not to let his sweetened words get to you. âreally though, you should be going back to partying and letting loose-â
âdo you not like talking to me?â kaiser whispers. you can practically hear the pout in his tone, imagining the way his shoulders slump defeatedly. funny how such a powerful, influential, and unbreakable character can be reduced to nothing in your grasp.Â
you couldnât ever imagine abusing that power though, not when michael kaiser is the one in the centre of your palm. âi do. i love talking to you, iâm just concerned that youâre not using the time wisely.âÂ
âiâm wise. iâm super wise. right, babe? tell me iâm wise.â
where you would have played with him a little and strung him along with saccharine sarcasm, a small giggle escapes your lips instead. that would be saved for sober kaiser. âyou are, you are,â you reassure, suddenly filled with the urge to see him.Â
âthanks babe. i love you,â he whimpers. âplease say you love me too.â
furrowing your brows at his uncharacteristic display of neediness and constant gratification, you were beginning to grow concerned at his odd behaviour. sure, kaiser loved to be praised for his skills, but there was something wrong about the athlete tonight. youâve never heard him beg to be complimented like he is tonight, but with the add-ins of alcohol and whatever else, you donât know whether to flag this or not.
âkaiser, can you give the phone back to ness?â you ask gently.
he whines, âsay you love me too!â
âiâm picking you up, kaiser, give the phone back to ness so i can tell him.â
âwill i get to see you?â
âif you give the phone back to ness, you will.â
âreally? hang on, babe!âÂ
thereâs a bit more rustling, resembling something that sounds like kaiser pushing through a crowd as he holds the phone in his grip, saying âmoveâ to bypassers in his way. after a short conversation that you canât pick up between the familiar voices of your boyfriend and his best friend, you hear nessâ voice clearly once again. âhey, everything okay?â
âeverythingâs fine,â you say, having grabbed your keys and a jacket whilst waiting. âiâm driving over to pick kaiser up, hope that doesnât inconvenience you guys.â Â
ânot at all. iâll send you the location of the club. there are 15 minute parking places just outside.â
âthanks ness, i appreciate it.â
âdonât worry. see you soon.âÂ
âiâll let you know when i arrive. tell kaiser to wait for me.â
you hang up after that, not waiting for a farewell from the soccer player as you plug your keys into the ignition, the car revving alive. after a 20 or so minute drive to downtown (the lack of traffic at one am made it so much easier to get there faster), you park at the curbside of the street opposite the club, clambering out of your car to lean against the driverâs door, where you could see the club entrance easily.
after shooting a quick text to ness, you wait patiently for the appearance of your beloved boyfriend, hugging your jacket close to your figure.Â
six minutes later, you see them; a shorter figure lugging out a taller one over his shoulder with little struggle. regardless of kaiserâs inebriated position, you could recognise his silhouette anywhere, heart picking up a little as you jog over to the club, feet taking you where your heart wanted to go.
âness!â you call out.Â
upon hearing your voice, kaiserâs head shoots up from where it was drooped, scanning the general vicinity of where you were before he spots you. the smile that lights up on his face is instantaneous; a grin that rivals that of the club lights.
âmy love!â he exclaims excitedly, stumbling over to you with surprising accuracy for someone who must have drank his body weight in alcohol. immediately, the athlete wraps you up in his arms, the smell of beer invading your senses as kaiser shields you completely from the outside world. âiâm so happy to see you.â
âiâm happy to see you too.â
after a few seconds of relishing in his warmth and (much-appreciated) silence, you take a mini-step away from him; an action the blond clearly did not take well as he groans, manoeuvring himself to now hug you from the side, head resting against yours as you pulls you towards him possessively.
you wave at ness from where you stood, unable to move with the striker clinging onto you. âthank you, ness. iâm sorry for disturbing your night out, you know how kaiser gets,â you say with a laugh, patting your boyfriend on the back.
âno, thank you for taking care of him. iâm glad he has you.â
âand iâm glad he has you too. you should go back inside, i got it from here.â
he nods, waving after a quick farewell before heading back in, disappearing from sight. sighing, you reposition yourself so that it was comfortable to prop him up against you.Â
âhey, handsome, you with me?â cupping his face with both of your hands, he nods in your grip, eyes drooping here and there as he stares down at you with unmatched gentleness and love. you add as a light-hearted joke: âyou used to be able to party until the clubs close, what happened?â
he grabs your wrists, holding on to them as he speaks, âyou still never said âi love youâ.âÂ
âoh,â you laugh, letting the sound spill freely. âmy bad-â
â-why are you laughing?â
his question shuts you up, catching you off guard as the laughter diminishes like an extinguished match. uncertainty dances within you like smoke, greying the giddy mood you were previously in from being reunited with him.Â
looking him square in the eye, you notice something that youâve never seen him wear before: insecurity.Â
kaiser looks so⊠abashed. sheepish. dismayed. your chest clenches at the sight, a feeling of protectiveness overwhelming you.Â
âwhat do you mean?â you ask cautiously.
âwhy are you laughing at me?â repeats the athlete.
âoh kaiser,â brushing a strand of hair behind his ears, you see his frown even clearer. âiâm not laughing at you, it wasnât meant to be mocking, i was laughing because youâre adorable and that you make me happy.â
he huffs, furrowing his brows. âare you sure?â
âof course i am. is everything okay, love?â
no answer. after a moment of simply standing around, you let it go because maybe it was just the alcohol that was making him act this way. you donât want to think too hard about it.Â
âletâs go home,â you whisper, grabbing his hands with yours, intertwining your fingers as you wait for his response.
âokay,â he slurs, nodding compliantly.Â
âdo you need my help walking?â
âyes,â he drapes himself over you without hesitation, causing you to groan uncomfortably. your question was said majorly as a joke, but kaiser will never let go of an opportunity to be as close to you as possible.Â
stumbling back to the car with a half-coherent athlete was difficult but not impossible. unlocking the vehicle, you open the passengerâs door rather easily, shoving him in there with an âoofâ from both of you. however, when you tried to pull away, you were met with a chain and lock around your waist, manifested in the form of your overgrown boyfriend who is too liberal with the amount of physical affection he spares.
you place a hand on his shoulder to try and steady yourself from his iron grip. âhey, i need to go to the driverâs seat, canât you let me go to do that?â
kaiser whines loudly, pulling you even closer. âplease donât make me let go. i donât want to.â
he was not good for your health. you exhale, slightly perplexed, slightly touched by his devotion. âbabe, iâm just going to the driverâs seat. youâll let me, wonât you?âÂ
âno. wanna keep you with me. want to love you forever,â his words are muffled into your jacket before the athlete brings his head out of your stomach to look you square in the eye, and the shiny, emotional look in them makes your heart lurch. âplease say thereâs no one else for you but me.â
grabbing both sides of his face with tender affection, you place a kiss on his nose; an action that causes him to scrunch his nose out of instinct. âyou know there will never anyone but you. i love you just as much in kind.â
he sighs, melting against you. the night air nips at your exposed skin but you canât find it in you to care much.
âso⊠you donât think that iâm too much?â the star striker questions and you think youâve uncovered the root of tonightâs strangeness; the main problem thatâs been bothering him.
âa lot? maybeâ you whisper and his face falls slightly at your confession, a flash of devastation crossing his features. his expression of ruin is slow to fade so you kiss it off, sealing your lips with his in a gentle meeting of two hearts, hoping to heal his sorrow that was carved from a moment of misunderstanding.Â
you pull away from him but the striker continues chasing after your touch.
âbut never too much.âÂ
an exhale of relief leaves him before he straightens up to meet your lips again, hand snaking up to the back of your neck to hold you against him as he tries to communicate all that he feels-Â which is everything.Â
kaiser loves selectively, but he loves hard, dedicating everything of his that he can until heâs squeezed dry and rendered empty, ready for a refill that heâll inevitably give away, all to you.Â
kaiserâs heart rests in your hands, where it rightfully belongs.
âi love you,â slurs the striker against your lips. âi know i can be a lot but i love you. please never leave me. what is the meaning of life if youâre not there with me?âÂ
you canât help wondering about what happened tonight for him to reach such a state of existentialism, but thereâs no time to dwell on it now whilst heâs still intoxicated and vulnerable. gently, you hold his jaw so he could look up at you.Â
âi might not show it as unabashedly as you do, but please never doubt that i love you. i adore you with my whole being, kaiser, thereâs no one else in the world for me like you,â you confess, voice gentle and unwavering.Â
he doesnât let you see the way his eyes mist before closing them and leaning into your touch. âi would do anything for you,â the striker whispers.
âanything, you say?â
he nods.
âthen letâs go home and sleep. what do you say, handsome?â
âwhat a brilliant idea. youâre so smart, my love.â
âthank you but you need to let go of me in order for that to happen.â
he begins wailing in protest.

â itoshi s. x beauty and the beast
entry one of âsomeday, my prince will comeâ
âbe still!â you snarled at the magenta furred beast. âtch..!â sae scoffed. his large paw shuddered in your grasp as you slowly pulled out the thorn. âit wouldnât hurt to be more gentle with itâŠâ he groaned in pain. oh, god everything felt like agony.
âyou wouldnât be in pain if you hadnât gone to save me. iâm not some damsel in distress.â you sarcastically pointed out, much to saeâs laughter. âuhuh, so you were fine defending yourself from that pack of wolves?â
you glare at him for his comment, and quickly rip the thorn out. âow..! shâ uugh⊠what was that for..?â he pouted, his other paw quickly moving to massage the pained one. âthatâs for being a sarcastic jerk. now go rest up, prince.â you teased.
sae scowled at the nickname. âdonât call me that.â he softly pushed at your waist. âeeehhh, right, right⊠just⊠rest already, sae.â you sigh, standing up. this place⊠wasnât so bad now that you think about it. but you miss your father. how could you not?
sae nods, acknowledging your order. geez⊠one thing sae itoshi really didnât mess with was his health. heâd put away his ego to follow a physicianâs orders. âah, and,â you started.
ââŠthanks for saving me. âi guess⊠i mightâve really died if you hadnât save me.â
your eyes avoided his, bottom lip in a pout. youâre not really used to relying on otherâs to save you. or, maybe itâs more so that you never needed to be saved. itâs not everyday that wolves show up in the province anyways.
ââŠyeah, sure. i was just⊠worried when i heard you decided to run away.â he admits, his voice faltering. âyou wouldnât believe how dangerous these woods have gotten in just a decade.â
ââŠdo you just go around patrolling the woods like some guard?â you stifle a laugh. the beast can only deadpan at you. âdo you think i just stay in my palace all day? i still need to exercise.â he scoffs.
âtemper.â the candlestick known as aiku warns. âremember, be nice.â he smiles.
the next few days are⊠surprisingly pleasant. as sae recovers from his scars, youâve consistently been tending to his wounds as well as making decent company. decent, since youâre the only company heâs had in a while.
âcan you walk?â your arm supports his lower back as the two of you walk in the snow. âiâiâm fine. iâm not some grandmother with arthritis, iâm only 20.â he huffs, that once cold look in his eyes much more gentle.
âhah! only 20? you might as well be a grandpa!â you tease, much to saeâs dismay. âso what? youâre probably turning 20 in a couple months. whoâs gonna be the old geezer now?â he raised an eyebrow. his breath visible in the air as a white cloud.
ââŠyou. itâs always gonna be you, oldie.â you grinned, throwing a snowball suddenly in his direction.
the snow fell off his face, some of it melting and being absorbed into his magenta fur from his pure body heat.
sae frowned, unamused, as his large dug to gather the largest snowball he could manage to create. âiâm going to destroy you.â he muttered, aiming in your direction.
âsaeâ! donât! i have so much to live for!â you laughed as you ran away from him, hiding behind a tree. âcome back here⊠iâm gonna teach you a lesson..!â he ran, following your each and every move.
the two of you played as if two little children. the kingdomâs unfavored, blunt prince, and the oddball daughter of a kooky mechanic from a quaint village. who would have thought that theyâd make such a dynamic duo?
some might even call them a power couple..?
âah! just a few more days, and weâll be human again!â the miniature grandfatherâs clock cheered. âoh yeah? what makes you so sure, sendou?â aiku hummed, looking down at the sight in the courtyard.
âwhat makes me sure? why, the master hasnât ever done this! sheâs made him different!â he exasperatedly exclaimed, going on a tangent about how heâs going to woo the maidâs staff once again using the boyish charm he had lost.
aiku nodded, seeing the look in saeâs eyes. the same look the young master had when he had proclaimed to become the best king in the world as a child; the look of hope. however this time, it runs deeper. how sae lets you guide his paw as he relearns how to use a quill. it was something he was too prideful to even let his childhood tutors do.
âhmm⊠maybe youâre right, sendou. there might be something there that wasnât there before.â
"PRIDE AND PREJUDICE LEVEL ANGST AND INSULTS" I have found my people, my kin, my kind, my family in all but blood.
Introduction, or pick another route!
Azul x GN Reader (they/them)
Warnings: Azul is (lovingly) a sus dumbass and businessman, P&P level angst and insults, I got carried away and this is 6k words im so sorry
â
Azul was staring at you again.
Surprisingly, at this point you were sort of used to it. If anything, you stared back at him, dead in the eye, until he broke eye contact, adjusting his glasses or ruffling his hair. Still, it unnerved you a bit more than youâd care to admit.
Ever since his overblot, you noticed that heâd make his presence known around you. Whether it was Azul himself, or Jade or Floyd lurking around your general vicinity and eventually herding you near Mostro Lounge, it was starting to get a little concerning. Especially because of that strange look in his eye when he thought you werenât looking.
Still, you got some weird signals from Azul, because sometimes heâd chat with you (and not-so-subtly get you to sign a deal with him). Other times, heâd hardly meet your eyes at all.
So now, you decided to ruffle him. It wasnât like you could go toe-to-toe (tentacle-to-tentacle?) with Azul without causing a massive headache, and staring back at him was hardly the worst thing one could do at NRC. So, you initiated a staring contest with him. You won every time, and he always slunk back with pink dusting his cheeks. The bitter shame of defeat, you thought proudly. Nevermind that it was cute seeing a different side to him, your stomach doing flips.
Meanwhile, still slumped in his seat, Azul attempted to cool his face off. Sevens, you always seemed to surprise him. Humans were so odd - just when he thought he had you all figured out, you always did something that threw him off guard. It appears you werenât the quiet Prefect all of the time. As class ended and he walked back to Octavinelle, his mind drifted.
The past few weeks following his overblot were strange, indeed. Three days earlier, he sat across from you in his office, smug that heâd finally get Ramshackle. Then a few days later, he was returning the very photo heâd contracted you to steal, and rethinking everything he thought about you. The landfolk always talk about sirens in the sea, he thought irritably as he rubbed his temple, staring down a blank contract. But if the landfolk had their version of sirens, youâd be it.
He tapped the fishbone quill against his desk, gritting his teeth. He didnât know how much time had passed until Jade entered his office, followed by Floyd who leaned against the doorframe. âAzul, we have this weekâs profits-â Jade stopped when he saw him, âoh? Are you alright? Have you been overworking?â
Azul sighed, flopping back in the armchair. Jade hummed, âperhaps it has to do with a meddling someone?â Azulâs face flushed, and Jade had his answer.
âFufu, this is interesting,â Jade grinned and watched as Azul composed himself, pushing his glasses up. âWe have reasonable proof that the Prefect also shares feelings for you, Azul.â The dorm leader stopped and looked at him.
ââŠReally?â He asked, resting a hand beneath his elbow and propping his head up. âWhat proof?
âWho else but the only other soul in the school who dorms with them?â A grin spread slowly across Azulâs face, and he hummed to himself, pleased, âI suppose I should⊠affirm this for myself. Thank you, Jade.â His glasses glinted ominously in the light as the twins matched his grin. âYou should turn in for the night, Iâll be here.â He snapped his fingers and a blank piece of golden parchment unfurled itself midair. âI should make preparations.â
âââ
Grim had never been this hungry nor intimidated in his life. And never at the same time.
It all started when he went to the cafeteria to get something for lunch, and he was stopped by Azulâs two lackeys. Then, he was whisked into Mostro Lounge with the promises of all the tuna he could want, with desserts!, if only heâd have a little chat with the Housewarden. Despite his grumbling stomach, he was still coherent enough to know bad idea, big no-no. Prefect will yell at you.
Then he saw the buffet of tuna on the table and all reason left him.
He lunged at the table, already drooling, when Floyd caught him around his midsection, âAh ah ah, sealie,â he grinned ominously, âyou gotta talk to the boss!â
At that moment, Azul strode into the room, blue dorm uniform jacket billowing behind him. âAh, Grim, so good of you to join us.â He seated himself next to the head of the table, where Floyd plopped Grim down. Grim watched dazedly as Floyd and Jade moved to stand behind his chair, while Azul was already pulling out a lengthy contract followed by a little inkpot.
âI understand that you and the Prefect are close? Perhaps, youâd be willing to tell me a bit more⊠about them,â Azul smirked, watching the fear and hunger swirl in Grimâs eyes. The little cat monster leaned away from him, and Azul loomed closer. âI ainât telling you anythinâ!â Heâs still loyal, griped Azul internally. But Azul wasnât the infamous business-mer of Octavinelle for nothing.
âOf course, of course!â He waved a hand, adjusting his glasses with the other, âI would never want to pry! After all,â he smirked dangerously at Grim, who felt a shiver run down his back, âI am a changed man! And I have the Prefect to thank for it.â
As if on cue, Jade and Floyd leaned down closer to Grim, and he could feel their breaths on his fur. Azul continued, watching Grimâs composure crack with satisfaction, now weâre getting somewhere. âI simply want to thank the Prefect with an⊠alliance,â he took a saucer and spooned out some expensive tuna, piling it on a cracker, âone that would, of course benefit them. Benefit you.â
Grim opened his mouth to protest, but Azul stuffed the cracker into his mouth. He grinned at the twins, âtoday is simply the first day of negotiations. If you tell me what I want to know, then this sumptuous feast-â he brandished a gloved hand to the table laden with food â-is yours. But this is the first of many to come.â
He leaned closer to Grim, satisfied that the hunger in the cat monsterâs eyes was growing after whetting his appetite with the tuna cracker. âIf your information proves useful, and the Prefect and I form a relationship, I will provide you with high quality foods and comfort.â
To drive the point, Azul topped a cracker with tuna, âincluding all the tuna,â he added a spoonful of caviar, âyou could ever,â he squeezed a lemon over it, âwant.â
Grimâs eyes were sparkling, and he opened his mouth as Azul brought the cracker closer to him. Suddenly Azul stuffed the cracker into his own mouth, and Grimâs face fell. Azulâs smirk grew, and he leaned back nonchalantly chewing on the caviar, pleased at the lemonâs tang, âbut of course, this depends on how well you help me. Youâll be able to eat after our little chat, donât worry. Iâll be contacting you for information later today.â
Azul could see the exact millisecond that Grim relented. Eyes sparkling, Grim yelled âHECK YEAH!â And stuffed a paw into the inkpot before Azul could react. Grim slammed his paw where the signature line was, ink splattering on the tablecloth, but Azul didnât care. Yes, youâve played right into my grasp, he grinned and snapped his fingers. As the twins backed off and Grim catapulted himself into the middle of the table, Azul chuckled to himself as he ambled back to his office, the Prefect is as good as mine.
âââ
Thatâs odd, you thought as you glanced at the clock, Grim should be here by now.
He didnât come to lunch today, and you hadnât seen him in a while. It wasnât usually like Grim to skip a meal, and now it was late evening, and you still didnât know where he was.
You sighed. You had no energy to deal with this. It was slowly getting later and later, and it was already dark out when you heard the front door open and saw Grim trudging in, looking exhausted.
âGrim!â You scooped him up and hugged him, âwhere were you?! I was so worried! Donât do that again!â You blubbered, âare you hungry?â âNope!â Grim said quickly, which made you a little suspicious. Grim? Not hungry? Sure, when the Scalding Sands freezes over.
âDid you eat?â Grim tensed in your grip, âyeah! Just- stop askinâ questions henchhuman! You worry too much.â He got out of your arms and padded off. âGrim, where did you go?â Grim stopped, eyes wide. âDonât worry about it!â He raced up to your room, while you frowned behind him. You were definitely worrying about it.
âââ
Earlier that day, Grim went to his classes after lunch, completely content after his meal at Mostro Lounge and forgetting about his deal. After clubs, he began making his way back to Ramshackle when two shadows loomed behind him. Squeaking, he turned back and lo and behold, Jade and Floyd were grinning at him.
âEh~ Has sealie-o forgot his little promise?â Floyd cackled, grabbing Grim, âdonât worry, we didnât!~â It was at that moment Grim knew; he fucked up. This was a mistake. A trap. A grim Grim error. The twins strode into the hall of mirrors, heading straight for Azulâs office. Floyd plopped Grim down on the seat across from Azul, who rested his chin on his intertwined hands. Grim shivered as Azulâs glasses glinted ominously in the light. Azul tapped his quill twice against the desk, smirking assuredly.
âNow, let us begin~â
âââ
âGrim, whatâs this all about?
You were almost running behind your cat monster, who seemed a little too skittish to be without blame. Ever since he came home late that day, heâd been oddly quiet. It all started when you got a letter addressed to you.
My dearest Prefect,
I hope this message finds you well. In light of what transpired before winter break, Iâve realized that I never properly thanked you for helping me.
As such, it would be my honor to host you at Mostro Lounge this evening. I cordially invite you to dinner tonight, please arrive punctually. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Yours,
Azul Ashengrotto
When you tried to find Jade and Floyd (Sevens only knew how long you looked for Azul himself before you gave up), they merely smiled ominously at you and remained just out of reach. As the evening approached, you were left only with confusion and a very skittish Grim. For the past week, heâd come back to Ramshackle later and later, but curiously he wasnât hungry at all. This was odd - your little cat monster was always down for tuna. Except now.
When you mentioned the dinner to him, he laughed nervously and curiously didnât ask to tag along. âWhy? Its a dinner at Mostro Lounge. Its free. Donât you want food?â Grim gulped, rubbing the top of his head strangely. âA-and see those two weirdos anâ Azul again? No way!â Still, you noticed his ears pinning back on his head. Heâs scared.
âWhat did they do?â Your eyes narrowed and Grim flinched. âNothin! You should go to your date!â âGrim, its not a dateâŠâ you turned to the letter thoughtfully, âor is it?â âFor the love of- YES ITS A DATE! Iâm not gonna let that contract go to nothinâ!â Grim screeched, the flames on his ears flaring up. Wait⊠why was it purple and growing out of his head?
âGrim what did you do?!â You watched in horror as an anemone grew out of Grimâs head yet again. âYou signed a contract with him?! Why the hell did you do that?!â Grimâs face fell into shock. âUh oh, I wasnât supposed to tell ya thatâŠâ
With that, the cat monster raced out of the room and made a beeline straight for the Octavinelle mirror. âGrim!â You ran after him, tripping as you fell into the mirror. You thudded on the floor, panting, until two pairs of nice dress shoes came into sight. âHello, Prefect,â Jade greeted with a hand on his chest. Floyd picked you up by the shoulders and dusted you off. âWelcome to Mostro Lounge~â
The Lounge is⊠different, you realized. For starters, there was no one there - usually around this time, thereâd be customers. Did the Lounge close early tonight? The ambience also was⊠new. Sure, it was always a little dark since it was underwater-ish, but now there were candle-lit tables flickering, highlighting a central table with two chairs. Somehow it felt very⊠intimate.
Surely this was some kind of weird prank? â...whats going on?â you looked at the twins, who started chuckling. You suddenly got your bearings back, voice rising in pitch, âWhere is Grim?!â
âAh, Prefect, youâve arrived.â
You looked up, eyes widening. Azul strode into the Lounge, pearlescent and practically gleaming. His hair was slicked back, and he was dressed smartly in a light greyish-blue suit. He looked opulent, with a layered pearl necklace around his neck reminiscent of his outfit from the festival at Noble Bell. Instead of his usual rectangle glasses, he wore his round-lens frames. In his left breast pocket was a dark blue rose, which he carefully took and held out to you. âIts wonderful of you to join us. Shall we begin?â
What in the cinnamon toast fuck was going on?
â--
Last night, Azul came up with 862 date plans to ensure you had fun. And you will have fun!
He managed to get his moneyâs (and tuna buffetâs) worth after making (convincing) Grim to sign that contract with him. When Floyd dropped Grim into the seat across from him, Azul grilled him on your interests.
All night, he pored over his notes, going over every detail that Grim said. His main questions were answered, like Is the Prefect looking for a partner?, What does the Prefect want in a partner?, What is the Prefect attracted to?, and so on. In the end, he left his last question unanswered - partially because Grim looked far too frazzled to answer, and because Azul was too scared to ask.
His final question: Does the Prefect love me back? remained unanswered at the bottom of the page. Thankfully, he thought as he pulled your chair out and had you sit down, I donât need to answer it. You will love me by the end of the night!
As Azul sat down across from you, you gulped. You severely underestimated what this dinner would be. But with Azul dressed to the nines, the twins snickering over your shoulders, and Grim being skittish all day, this could only mean one thing: you were going to have a literal romantic candle-lit dinner with the same dude who nearly made you homeless and made Grim an anemone.
It sickened you. It was overwhelming. So much that you could hardly get any words out as Jade wafted to the table carrying platters of your favorite foods, while Azul laced his fingers together and observed you so gently. It wasnât like you could get any words in, because Azul began talking at you, Jade started grinning, and you were just reeling. You could hear Floyd humming along with the sizzle of frying oil, and became hyperfocused on random things: Jadeâs golden eye. The candle flame flickering. The smell of food. And Azulâs analytical eyes watching you as he spoke.
As Azul began a long tirade about âhow lovely it was to finally sit down and speak with you Prefect! I do appreciate your time, as you can see weâve prepared the Lounge to your taste! We hope the food is to your liking and-â you cut him off.
âAzul, where is Grim?â You said flatly, putting down your knife and fork. You werenât even eating anyway, youâd just shoved the food around the plate. By now you were tired of asking questions and wanted answers, dammit. Azulâs eyes widened, and he leaned on his elbow. âGrim is fine! In fact, he was kind enough to tell me all about you.â
You tensed. This wasnât good. You werenât necessarily hiding anything, but it wasnât like you wanted Azul to know things he shouldnât. ââŠlike what?â You asked, taking up your drink and sipping it slowly. If Azul was going to be coy, you would too. You wouldnât lose your composure to him.
Azul leaned forward, smirk growing. âMany things,â he tapped a gloved finger against his cheek, âyour preferred foods, your aesthetic or decor, and curiously,â his eyes locked onto yours, âyour interest in me.â
Strictly speaking, that was a bluff; Grim hadnât told him that. But as you visibly grew flustered, he thought he hit the nail on the head. âNow now, donât worry, we didnât discuss anything bad! Rather, after speaking to him, I have a proposal that I believe would interest you greatly.â
He snapped his fingers, and a gleaming golden contract unfurled beside him. Pushing up his glasses, Azul seemed to smile gently at you. âNow, you would gain plenty things - a free meal at Mostro Lounge per week, a consistent stream of gifts, flowers delivered to Ramshackle every Monday, along with meetings with me each Saturday-â He was about to continue when you cut him off.
âThis⊠this has to be some kind of trick,â you muttered, dazed. You didnât even realize you said it out loud until Azulâs gaze softened, âNo, Iâm being completely serious, Prefect. I-â âWhat is this?â You demanded, straightening up.
Azul visibly bristled at your words, practiced businessman-smile wavering. âThis? This is just a fraction of what I can give you!â He forced himself to keep his composure, âo-of course we can amend the contract-â âAzul! What is the contract for?!â By now you were beyond worried. You had no idea where Grim disappeared to, and had no explanation about this dinner thing Azul clearly dressed to the nines for. âWhat am I agreeing to?!â
Azul went pink. âI-IâŠâ you could overhear Jade snickering in the kitchen while something seemed to fall over. Azul cleared his throat, starting to look strangely shy. âI would like you to be my partner.â You frowned deeply, âIâm not working with you. Why do you want me to be your business partner anyway?â At your words, you heard Jade and Floyd bark in laughter while Azul looked like he wanted to sink into his suit
âI mean.. romantically,â he whispered. Your eyes widened while your heart pounded. Slowly, things started to fall into place. Your eyes narrowed, this was too good to be true. âWhy?â Azulâs eyes widened, âwell, why not?â You stayed silent, just looking at him. Despite being in a not-enemy-situation with Azul, you didnât exactly forget what transpired before winter break. How you and Jack walked into Octavinelle with the twins, and sat across from Azul as he tried to kick you and Grim out of Ramshackle. And how he gave you backhanded insult after insult, and for what? For him to come up to you now, months later, just to tug on your heartstrings?
He still wanted Ramshackle after all that soul-searching at the Atlantica Museum? Anger burned hot in your stomach. Had he no shame?
Azul grew nervous at your silence. Foolishly, he rambled to fill the quiet, âw-well, youâre quite the intriguing human. Not many have successfully defied my contracts. And I⊠understand that our first meeting was⊠less than idealâŠâ He carefully watched for your reactions, but your face was unreadable, âbut I am willing to make amends. Iâve grown affectionate of you, and I believe that I can provide you with enough benefits to make you happy.â He tried for a debonair smile and pointed to the contract, âYou will receive many things and more. Quite honestly, this deal is very unlike me - truly, Iâm going against my own better judgement.â
This had to be a dream. You laughed humorlessly, surprising him. âAnd what do you receive?â Azul smiled gently at you, âAll I really want is you.â You barked out a laugh, feeling so emotionally exhausted you could cry. âYeah, sure, and Ramshackle right?â Azulâs eyes widened and he hurriedly tried to explain, âNo, of course not-â âYeah right!â You stood up, glaring down at him. âThis-this is some kind of trick right?!â You grabbed the contract and scanned it:
âIn accordance with help from Grim, he shall be compensated fittingly for the following tasks:
1) Providing information on the Prefect, (Name)âs, interests in a partner
2) Helping with distinguishing of the Prefectâs preferred romantic aesthetics (dining, love language, physical attributes, personality, etc.)
3) Meeting for the summation of one (1) week to discuss topics regarding (Name)
If Grim tells the Prefect, (Name), details regarding Azul Ashengrottoâs plans before the intended date, then he shall be indebted to Azul for an indefinite time as an anemone-worker.â
You didnât even bother reading the rest of it. Your eyes were locked on the last line.
âYou extorted Grim?!â you screeched, making Jade and Floyd stick their heads out the kitchen door. âYou extorted Grim and you expect me to date you?!â Azul tried to calm you down, âYes- I mean no- I just asked him a few questions! He was compensated with food-â âSo thatâs why he came back late?! This was what Grim was being weird about?â You took a few deep breaths to calm yourself down, rubbing your eyes and feeling a few tears come out. âI knew that letter had to be some kind of trick. I knew this was a mistake.â Azul bristled, âa mistake?! Do you have any idea how long this took to prepare?! I could date anyone in this school, but I chose you! Against my own better judgement!â
âYeah,â you agreed, looking him dead in the eye. âYou chose the human with âno innate magical power.ââ Azul flinched, but you blazed on, hyperventilating, âYou chose the âutterly run-of-the-millâ human with the one thing you want - Ramshackle.â Azul finally shut up, he talks too much you thought bitterly. âYouâve insulted me in every possible way. Youâve tried to extort me, youâve taken advantage of Grim twice, and now youâre trying to play with my emotions to kick me out of Ramshackle! Again!â You clenched your fists, vision tunneling. âAre you kidding me?! I am never! Going to date you!â you shoved the now-crumpled contract into Azulâs chest as he blubbered. âIâm not signing that contract! You are the last person I would date on this campus!â
The silence that followed hung in the air thickly. As you breathed heavily, you realized the weight of your words. Azul was by no means a person to make an enemy of, but you had spoken the truth. And he seemed to realize that. âThen if thatâs your decision, thereâs no point in continuing this dinner.â
Azul sighed quietly, âFloyd, bring Grim out. Let them leave.â Grim bounded up to you, puffing angrily until you gave him a look, â you, Grim, are in so much trouble.â
â---
The next few weeks were quiet. And considerably unsupervised by two eels and an octopus.
After you told your friends about what happened, unsurprisingly Ace and Deuce were angry. Jack was pissed too, âyouâre tellinâ me Azul still wants Ramshackle?! After all this time?â Jack clenched his fists while Deuce had a crazed âdelinquentâ look. âI thought we showed him not to mess with yaâ before! Even after making us anemoneâs he doesnât know when to quit!â
You sighed, already tired. âlook, nothingâs happened. I donât think heâll try anything.â Not after you wrecked his ego.
Jack crossed his arms, âthat octopunk better not be plotting. He may honor a contract, but you canât trust a schemer.â You shrugged, âHe canât do anything because I didnât sign the contract, so even if he did want Ramshackle, heâd have to go about it differently. Anyway,â you glanced at the time, âLunch is about to end. See you guys after class, câmon Grim.â You all parted ways, and you and Grim walked into History of Magic.
You listened to Professor Trein drone on, and after a while of notetaking, he cleared his throat. âTo end this unit, I will be assigning a project in which you will report on the magical history of a specific place. I have randomly assigned you a place to report on,â he regarded the room full of groaning students, gesturing to the table behind him âyou have one month to finish it. Class dismissed. The area you will report on is listed on the papers behind me, beside your name.â Students flocked to the table, and you waited a bit for everyone to clear out while you collected your things.
Finally, you walked to the table and flipped the papers, looking for your and Grimâs names while Trein hummed at the podium. Lucius slunk between your ankles, purring softly while your heart sank at what you had to report on.
âThe Coral Sea?â You looked up at Trein, âS-sir, I wonât be able to-â âWhy not?,â the man asked, picking Lucius up. You mirrored him and picked Grim up, who crossed his arms, ânya, its Azulâs ân his hencheelsâ home!â Way to be obvious, Grim. Trein raised an eyebrow, âItâs always good to learn more about othersâ homelands. It may do you and Grim good to learn more about this world, and from what I gather, you have been there before.â You flinched, but Trein didnât seem to condemn you. âHowever, you arenât the only terrestrial student assigned an aquatic area. While I wonât make every student visit their assigned areas, I believe it will be beneficial if you visit them. I will speak to Professor Crewel about providing you underwater breathing potions.â
While that wasnât what you were worried about, you still appreciated it. âThank you, Professor,â you shouldered Grim, determined. âWe wonât let you down.â
â---
After about a week of waiting, and getting jumpscared by Crowley who gave you an underwater breathing potion after singing his own praises (âah! How generous I am!~â), you and Grim headed to the Dark Mirror. âThe Coral Sea,â you called out, gulping, âThe Atlantica Memorial Museum.â As the Mirror swirled, so too did your mind as you stepped in after taking the potion.
You floated in the water for a moment. The last time I was here was⊠Ah, right. When you were stealing from the museum, and when you returned the photo with everyone. The photo⊠you swam towards the museum, which was thankfully open this time. You willfully ignored the mer-museum goers, some who looked surprised to see a human. You supposed you couldnât blame them, though - you were floored when you saw the twinsâ eel forms for the first time.
You and Grim swam around the exhibits for a bit, with you taking notes and Grim finding the information. Even though you didnât really want to do the assignment in the first place, you couldnât deny that it was fascinating seeing human âartifactsâ from a merfolk perspective. You were able to get a good amount of material - from the mermaid princessâ hairbrush (which was just a fork?), the Sea Kingâs trident, and a replica of the Sea Witchâs crown and nautilus. The museum even had some of her old makeup products - which was a shellfish she squeezed. Cool. Anyway.
Now you and Grim were tired, and it was around late lunchtime since you got to the museum as soon as it opened. As you both headed out, Grim stretched, swirling in the water, âhenchhuman, Iâm hungry!,â his eyes lit up and despite the oceanwater, you swore you could see drool, âYa think the Coral Sea has any good eats?! Oh, imagine the seafoodâŠ!â You noted that the potion duration still had some time left, but still. You were hungry too after using all your energy swimming, and it wasnât like youâd be back in the Coral Sea anytime soon. After thinking, you nodded, âsure, we can go look.â
The museum was close to the âcity,â so you both swam around. A few merfolk murmured in surprise at seeing a human and cat, but you tried to ignore it. Suddenly Grim gasped, ânya, the Mostro Lounge?!â Your head snapped up to the bioluminescent sign. A swirl of emotions went through you, while Grim blanked out remembering his contract. It isnât like youâll see Azul here (name). Youâll be fine. â...Azul did say that the Lounge at school is a sister location, I thinkâŠâ Still, this place looks way too fancy. You definitely couldnât afford it.
âWelp, we canât afford it Grim, lets go-â you tried to swirl around and swim off but you were a little clumsy in the water. You knocked over a shell decoration at the entrance accidentally, and Grim crashed into a merman guest. âHey! Easy there- wait, a human?!â Oh no, immediately the merfolk zeroed in on you. You stiffened nervously. You caught some whispers, âAre they a student?,â âLook, they have a Night Raven College uniform,â âWow! A human!â
You looked around nervously, unconsciously backing into the restaurant when you heard a female voice behind you. âOh, are you a student at Night Raven College?â You whirled around, crashing into the tentacles of an older mer-octopus lady. She didnât seem fazed, but smiled widely at you. Even before she introduced herself, you recognized those eyes and well-placed mole.
âHello dear! I run this restaurant, my son goes to your school as well! Perhaps you know him?â She held your gaze, but you could feel her tentacles fixing your collar and blazer, while she dusted your shoulders off with her hands. âI- I might,â you stammered, âIâm (name).â âOh, its so nice to meet one of my babyâs friends! Heâs told me all about you!â As she grabbed Grim around the torso with a tentacle, she firmly grasped your shoulders. âPlease, you must have something to eat!â As she steered you to a table, you tried to gather your bearings. You were seated, and she thrust a menu into your hands.
âItâs so nice to meet you, (name)! Youâre the prefect, right?â Your eyes widened, but she continued. âOh, where are my manners? Iâm Azulâs mother! My son is the Octavinelle housewarden,â she said proudly, confirming your suspicions. âReally?,â you asked, wondering what the odds were that youâd meet the mother of the guy you viciously dumped. She took your surprise for confusion, âYes, I believe you two know each other? Heâs mentioned you before. Iâll ask him later!â she beamed, âPlease, pick whatever youâd like from the menu! Itâs all on the house for my babyâs friends!â She winked, and you managed a nervous smile while Grim cheered. You shakingly pointed out a few foods, and she whisked off to the kitchen in a stream of bubbles.
A few minutes later, she walked back with way more plates than you ordered, and sat down next to you. Even after you asked if sheâd like any food, she refused, and simply said âI just want to talk with you! Iâve heard a lot about you~â That made you nervous, but you complied. After the first few minutes, you relaxed a bit, and made easy conversation with her. Even Grim seemed more carefree, after inhaling about five plates of Coral Sea tuna, which she herself made, to your surprise.. Azul definitely got his conversational ability from her, you thought. While Azul used his chattiness to talk people into a contract, his mother used it for hospitality. It was no wonder the original Mostro Lounge was a hit - it was all because of her ability, inside the kitchen and out. This was nice, you thought tenderly.
âItâs good to hear that my babyâs doing well,â she hummed. âIâm glad he has some land friends. I sometimes worry he works too hard,â she chuckled, reminiscent. âYou know, heâs always had a hard time opening up to others, outside of the Leech brothers. Heâs always had his head in his contracts, he certainly got that from my husband. Iâm glad heâs opened up a bit more. Iâm glad he has you,â she smiled gently. You felt a bundle of nerves well up inside you, but you simply nodded. âY-yeahâŠâ
âWell! If youâre finished with your food, then itâs time for dessert!â In a blink of an eye, she swept up the plates with her tentacles and rose from the chair, winking. âI know just the thing! Wait here.â You tried to protest, but she left too quickly. Grim hummed happily while you slunk down in your seat. Azul has a hard time opening up. Was the contract⊠his way of doing that? I didnât even hear him out⊠âGrim,â you asked quietly, âwas I too harsh on Azul?â Grim looked up, pondering. âNya? Henchhuman, you canât be havinâ second thoughts! Not after you took my tuna away for three months!â You pursed your lips, but started when you heard your name.
âPrefect?!â You snapped up, wide eyed and staring at⊠âAzul?!â But⊠not Azul?
There was the housewarden himself, but not in human form. His merform. You were reminded of his overblot form, but that paled in comparison to now. Azulâs tentacles were longer, even longer than Jade and Floydâs full merforms. His skin was a light lavender, wait he has abs? and the majority of his body was a smooth, inky black that shimmered mesmerizingly in the ocean light. His eyes and hair were a lovely light blue, but now he looked very panicked at you seeing his true self.
âYou- youâre-!â Azul shut his eyes tightly, this isnât happening please not them too, âPrefect please donât ever mention this, I swear Iâll give you whatever-!â âYouâre beautiful,â you gasped in awe. Azulâs eyes widened, and a deep purple blush spread on his face. âWhy- you-!â Suddenly you realized where you were, and scrambled for an explanation while Grim zeroed in on the dessert Azul was holding, âI- weâre here because of Treinâs project, and-!â âHey Azul, gimme that!â
While Grim dug into the dessert, Azul held his head in his hands, sitting next to you, tentacles curling in on themselves as if to make him smaller. You swished your legs around awkwardly, before saying quietly, âI had no idea youâd be here. I⊠Why are you here? Itâs not a holiday.â âI⊠went to visit my stepfather for advise on the Lounge. I had permission from the headmaster,â he said finally. âI stopped here to see my mother, and you could imagine my surprise when she said a human student was here,â he chuckled humorlessly. âShe told me to bring them dessert, and shoved me out the kitchen. It never crossed my mind it was you.â
You bit your lip and looked away. This was the first time you and him were speaking since that failed dinner. ââŠIâm sorry,â you said finally. âWhat I said to you in the Lounge was awful, and-â
âNo, in hindsight your reaction was⊠reasonable,â he said to your surprise, âI admit that my methods werenât⊠the best,â he said, as if saying that hurt him. Which you supposed it did - Azul didnât take failure well. And why would he? When he worked so hard to get where he was?
Grim burped, sighing contentedly while Azulâs mother bustled out of the kitchen. âZuzu! You found your friend!â Azul flinched at the nickname, blushing again, âMama, please-â âNo! Iâm sure poor (name) has been sitting here long enough! Why donât you two take a little swim, hm?â She wrapped a tentacle around your torsos and shoved you gently out the entrance, smiling pointedly at her son. âIâll take care of Grimmy, you enjoy yourselves!â Grim yowled in protest, but as she turned, you saw her offering a dessert to pacify him. Old habits die hard, you supposed.
By now, the sun was setting, and the ocean was warmed to a pleasant orange. Your hair swayed gently in the current, and you followed Azul along a path. You both stopped on a high rock and sat down, dangling your lower limbs over the ledge. He hadnât said a word the entire time. You stared into the distance, âAzul, why did you want me to sign that contract?â
He was quiet. âI told you, I wanted you to be my partner.â He hugged his arms as if to shield himself, âYou made it quite clear you didnât want me. And Iâll respect your choice. You wonât hear a word from me or the twins. I promise.â You bit your lip, âyou really meant it?â His eyes widened. âWhy wouldnât I?â
He refused to meet your eyes, but if he did heâd see a smile grow on your face. âYou⊠you didnât want Ramshackle? Or to⊠I dunno, get back at me?â â...No. I truly didnât. I⊠I really did just want you.â I do want you.
You nudged him gently, âEven against your own better judgement?â you asked jokingly, but he didnât pick it up. He felt his eyes sting, âI didnât mean to say that. I panicked and I⊠even if weâŠâ he swallowed thickly, âI donât regret falling for you. Even ifâŠâ he trailed off, but you felt your heart melt.
âI do foolish things around you,â he whispered. âItâs like all my years of negotiating is gone. But I didnât want to make you be with me. I wanted you to want to be with me.â
Oh. Oh. Suddenly the jittery feeling youâd had during the dinner came back full-force. âHey, Azul?â you asked with newfound courage, fueled by adrenaline alone. âYou know⊠you donât have to make me be with you.â He peeked at you from behind his bangs, eyes wide. Your face started feeling hot, but you grabbed his hand, âI want to be with you too. In every form.â
You didnât know when you started moving closer to Azul, but right then he dipped his head toward you. His lips captured yours, and he wrapped his arms around you tightly as if trying to make sure that this wasnât a dream. Immediately your hands cupped his face, and your legs tangled with his limbs. At last, you both pulled away, panting. You were smiling so hard your cheeks began aching.
âGuess I came around in the end, huh?â âWell, my business judgement is always sound, angelfish,â he said smugly, but you werenât fooled. âYou talk to much, Azul,â you giggled, pulling him in for another kiss.
What a memorable trip to the Coral Sea.

riddle
when you slid a foot over the portal to heartslabyul thereâs some sort of a strangeâinexplicable air that surrounds it. usually the dimension is light to be in, unlike the tingling feelings of being in octavinelle or the eeriness of ignihyde. all dormitories had their own particular sensation that weighs on you depending on where you were.
you squinted, deciding to shrug it off. there was no way you had a sixth sense for feeling in the literal air!
barely a foot in though, was something you could only explain as an army of card⊠soldiers trudging from the other end of the sidewalk to the next. dumbly, you stopped right in front the shimmering portal that settles into a smooth sheen of silver behind you as they just kept coming.
they seemed to be looking for somethingâor whatever but you donât really want to know what so you slowly inched to the side, hoping to sneak past them even if you had to go into one of the confusing mazes (which was a struggle considering youâre trying not to laugh as one of them trips).
must be aceâs wretchedness rubbing off of you.
the real question was, where in the seven were your resident idiots? youâd already sent a text over for your impromptu visit to the chat consisting of you three and figured they had seen it like they usually do then waited for you with feigned begrudging-ness that does not fit well with them showing up in the first place.Â
you fish for your sad excuse for a phone in your pocket, caterâs words not yours. youâre more busy trying to merge your backside as you shuffle and pull up the chat to notice the ever nearing edge of the hedge wall that makes you stand out in comparison to the lighter shade of green brushing against your uniform.
not deuce: you guys ever notice the card soldiers infestation near ur mirror portal
not ace: you nedea to RNR RUN RN!!
not yuu: what???
thereâs not much time to ponder about the cryptic, seemingly panicked expression of deuceâs message as you looked up from your phone, feeling a slight chill crawl up to your spine like you attracted some sort of unwarranted trouble that is also unwanted.
disclaimer: you (uu) did
âover here!â an unfamiliar voice yells, freezing you in your tracks just when you were about to make the sneak of the century. without a momentâs hesitation you darted deeper into the maze and shoved your device within the confines of your pockets as you held in a mortified scream at the sudden mob upon your tail as you ran.
WHY WAS THERE SO MANY? you yelled in your mind. number one rule in horror games donât look back. donât look back. donât look backâ
oh sevens youâre looking back.
the decision immediately fills you with regret when you spot the diabolical amount of card soldiers trailing after you like you just slaughtered their queen in front of whatever kingdom they came from! was this someoneâs unique magic? there was no way riddle would let this sort of thing go rampant on his dorm!
you almost keel over in shock when the pointy end of a heart on the end of a pole sticks right on the patch of grass you just barely managed to trudge across with increasingly heavier steps. maybe you should actually take jackâs offer to join track and fieldâyour stamina is horribleâyouâre gonna get stabbed.
goodbye world. you thought warmly with a chorus of pants.
a deeper voice bellowed from the crowd from your behind. âthree of hearts! are you thin-headed? do not harm the majesty!â the steps behind you stop almost abruptly, and you donât stop running even as the voices fade. idiots for choosing to chastise their idiotic comrade but youâre not complaining as long as you get away from this horrid situation.
your majesty what now?
you donât know how far you ran by sticking to all left turns until you flop down on the entrance of the maze, the archway barely offering you any relief as you took deep breaths and fought the urge to lay down on the grass and hope it camouflages your grey uniform.
that wonât work but youâre coping at this point.
not deuce: HELLOÂ I ALMOST GOT SKEWERED BY LITERAL CARDS?
not yuu: thatâs a humiliating way to go down from
not ace: donât be insensitive ace! are you ok?!
not deuce: NO? WHAT IS GOING ON
not yuu: riddle got dethroned and i'm not even happy
not yuu: it's the absolute WORST AT THE DORM!
not yuu: you better turn back rn and get away from âlabyul coz itâs getting run by a kid
not deuce: BACK INTO THAT DEATH MOB? no thanks
not ace: yuu brace up, cater texted that the new boss is on his way to you
not yuu: F for yuu
not ace: F
not deuce: F u
what you expect to be the final boss of your life, you guess from the approaching pairs of footsteps nearing your defeated form sprawled across the flecks of grass and still heaving comes in a surprising form of softness, and youth.
âmada.âÂ
the blueness of the sky is shadowed by a tiny little head peering over your head. youâre startled by the tuff of red hair, and familiar pair of eyes which was strange, considering you have never seen this kid in your life. this was the new queen of heartlsabyul? you thought incredulously, since when were kids allowed in nrcâŠ?
the thought was a breeding ground to raise the most evil person on the planet, considering the equally as evil people in night raven.
out of habit from the familiar chubby, round face you blurted: âriddle?â
the child blinked before they shook your head. âI am not papa.â their lips twitched into a small smile directed to you. if taken a closure look, this childâs resemblance with riddle really is uncanny. from the hair, even to a small golden crown sitting primly on the middle of their head. âmada, I am glad I found you. I have not seen papa yet.â
was this season 5 of stranger things?
they straightened. attention straying from you as you glanced to the other pairs of legs, whom you put a face to quickly. trey and cater both cast you a look of exasperation and pity.
then done like a true riddleâtheir face does a complete 360 and curls into anger as they stared off inside the maze. âall of you!â the tiny child rages with a concerning⊠change of color around their cute face, fingers pointed accusingly. how can a child be so horrifyingly scary?
the two third years do not mirror your confusion as you sat up, following the kidâs gaze to the archway where a myriad of thundering footsteps almost have you scampering away if not for them laying a small hand on your shoulder and somehow managing to ground you to stay still.
whose kid is this? you looked to cater who shakes his head uselessly
then to trey who wore a resigned smile.
the childâs brow twitches when the card soldiers lined up obediently. âI thought I had made it clear you not hurt mada.â they seethed, voice tilting in clear threat and a I demand you! sort of way. the card solider, three of hearts who had scared the living soul out of you trembled less subtle compared to the other guards.
of course this child had to get more terrifying by being observant, they caught the shiver of one soldier and narrowed their eyes. âah, found the culprit. three ofââ
trey shuffles forward with an awkward laugh that belies his usual laid back withâon his face is a twinge of concern as he raises his palms in a placating gesture. he steps forward three more times, sliding between the child and the line of soldiers but keeping the distance warily. âhey, kid. maybe we can discuss this with some tarts, and some tea?â he tries. children love sweets, right?
they keep their head level despite the astounding height difference. âI told you, uncle trey! being called âkidâ is disorderly! It's alice!â still, despite the brief protest their eyes sparkled with interest at the notion, even if they seemed a bit embarrassed to admit it. âiâm not supposed to eat sweets on mondays.âÂ
âhuh.â cater mumbled before the thin line of his lips rose into a familiar grin. âas in, rule 102 of the queen?â he queries with a nervous slide of his fingers through his hair. heâs not so obvious to directly state that heâs tiptoeing around⊠alice but a bit of months knowing him, you can tell.
alice nods along. they no longer look as bothered as before, the card soldiers all slump their tense shoulders a little when alice shifts their piercing gaze from the three of hearts before settling onto cater, who they offer a brief nod of agreement before returning back to trey.
well, a kid is a kid.Â
âbut i can eat sweets on tuesdays.â they added hastily. like they donât want the notion of treyâs treats slipping from their fingers but that would be strange, if the look of confusion you three share with each other you would have thought trey had initially baked for alice based off the tone of wistfulness in their tone.
trey smiles at them. âtomorrow it is.â reassured by their sheepish innocence he stops in front of them and grasps their shoulders, turning them away from the stiff soldiers. alice spares a brief glance at them. âwhat about these rule breakers?â
you stood up fully. âuh, donât worry, they didnât do anything wrong. i ran for too long.â you supplied in defense. if anything , a resemblance to riddle of all people meant that they could have the head offing in their blood. you did not want to stick around to find out, neither did cater.
alice considers you for a moment with a small sparkle in their eyes, with a wave of the small wand that maternalized in their hand, the soldiers fade into glittering spots of gold. only then do they let trey lead them back to the main pathway towards the dormitory of heartslabyul.
you fall into step behind cater who probably sees the question in your eyes so he lowers his voice discreetly, glancing at the back of trey who keeps the childâs bay attention so they donât notice you two slowing down a little. nonetheless, still walking.
âthat was little aliceâs unique magic.â he says to you with a shrug, sighing after a glance at the formerâs small, regal form. âpretty overpowered⊠kind of like my split card but less cute, and more dangerous.â
he winked, you frowned.
in front of you two, alice seems tame in comparison to the subtle bribing of trey questioning about their favorite sweets as you all finally reached the nearing entrance of the main dormitory
âwhereâs riddle?â you questioned.
he pursed his lips, navigating though the fountain in front of the dorm. âlast i know, he went out early to campus cause of a meeting with his club for the upcoming NRC tour festivalâŠâÂ
oh, right. I have not found papa. aliceâs voice echoes in your mind, so you echo the question that appears in your mind right after the memory. âalice called riddle âpapaâ which iâm pretty sure is a term for a parentâŠâ you trailed off. riddle seemed to be the least likely person to have a secret love child of some sorts, he seemed like he had most of his life planned out.
if riddle bent over backwards for his rules then he wouldnât stray from the path he had set.
thereâs a flash of interest in caterâs eyes, it was already there before, just dwindled. you watch it spark to life. akin to lighting some sort of fire within the guy, a gossipmonger at heart as he leaned in eagerly just as you both trudged up the stairs to the front doors who opened politely, and closed behind you as you walked in the main hall of heartslabyul.
âthey look, and act like riddle!â he chuckles. âimagine our shock when alice popped up straight out of nowhere with an army at their beck and call.â cater clutched onto his arms, and shivered. you leaned away when he reaches his arms out to you in a teasing manner.
he adds. not at all offended by the way you scrunch your face at his âaffectionsâ. âthey seem to listen to you though. like someone.â
you only regard him with an impassive raise of your brows. âi don't think so. riddle doesnât listen to anyone. much less me.â befuddled by the mere idea, you scoffed. in all your magic-less glory, the best thing you might have achieved here in this other dimension was having the ability to wake leona kingscholar up from one of his power naps.
cater doesnât seem to agree. only sighing at you from what it seems to be an of course. âonly you can be so oblivious to the chaos you leave behind.â he says in response, making an exaggerated show of peering behind your shoulder and widening his eyes in feigned shock.
you humor him as you turned your head. the scene of the main entrance of the dormitory was the only answer to your eyes as you both walked into the living roomâwhere little alice sits alone. you caught a glimpse of treyâs dark hair as he disappeared into the kitchen, most likely going off to make her a treat.
vaguely unsure if the male had heard him, cater calls out a âmake us some too!â
ânot my fault the students here are so⊠unstable.â you remarked with a roll of your eyes. remembering the overblots to be the most plausible reference to the chaos cater was talking about as you begrudgingly sat down on the couch and reeled in any other remarks for the child in the room.
who was now shuffling closer to your seated frame even if they thought they were being subtle in the movement.
what was two seats in the space between you and alice eventually became none at all, as they settled beside you and peered up with innocent eyes.
you tilted your head at them, alice copies the movement.
then to the other side.
they mirror the lull of your head.
âbesides those.â cater cleared his throat after a bewildered glance at the child. âwhatâs more impressive is that youâre still here, yuu-yuu. night raven is like⊠a pack of wolves trying to run you off crying, and you? youâre a very weird sheep.â
still a bit enraptured on this child, you replied without your stare wavering from the roundness of aliceâs cheek as you reached up to pinch it. to yours, and caterâs surprise. their previous cute ferociousness is not present at all as they leaned against the warmth as though instinctive. âi didnât do anything.â
you donât entertain the accusing look in caterâs eyes.
âif that was you not trying to beast tame the school then i donât know whatâll happen if you put in the effort.â
you both lapse into silence as caterâwho seemed to sense the finality of the conversation lets it slip fully and instead, busies himself with the entertainments his phone provided. you redirect your full attention onto the elusive red-headed alice.
âso,â you started. âhow did you end up here? must be a great feat if you were able to go past the barriers.â
alice curls their fingers within the fabric of your blazer, inspecting it as they reply softly. âiâm not sure, mada. i was just sleeping, and woke up in a garden. the hedgehogs showed me the way after i offered them a caterpillar.â they do not mention a bleary moment in their sleep where they curiously wondered how you and riddle came to be as they drifted off. âas pertaining by rule 210⊠if you are lost in a maze, give the hedgehogs an offering and they shall show you the way.â
you canât help but let your mind drift over to riddle, who echoes the rules to be followed when mentioned.
your lips twitch into a smile, much to the delight of alice. âstrange indeed. must have been scary.â
their eyes squinted. âiâm not scared.â
you chuckled and pinched their cheek. they pout.
âwhere are you from?â you ask instead, wanting to know more about the.. figurative alice from nowhere.Â
alice looks at you strangely.
âfrom the queendom of rosesâŠâ could they simply be a relative of riddleâs? you thought mindlessly. drawing your fingers through the surprising soft red locks who seemingly part eagerly for your touch. âwith my mada, and my papa. sometimes my uncles visit.â
unsure of how to reply, you merely nod along. parting their hair by half and twisting it into a braid. âyou called me mada.â you hummed.
âbecause you are my mada.â
she says like itâs the only thing that makes sense in her small world, not relinquishing her grip on your blazer but instead tugging at the wrists to expose the small slither of skin and hold onto it. clingy. you thought, deciding not to question it.
⊠was this your freaking kid?
the smell of strawberries wafts over the space of the living room alongside the ticking of the ovenâmomentarily taking both alice, and caterâs attention. the latter stretches before standing to stride over to the source of the smell, no doubt requesting trey to change the taste once more.
aliceâs eyes, like yours slid to your own. a bit shy in their demeanor as they clutched onto the skin of your wrist. âcan i eat some of uncleâs tarts?â they queried under your breath, only meant for you alone. you felt a bit confused but nodded nonetheless.Â
their lips twitched into an eager smile before it settles into a more controlled look of impassiveness.
that was adorable. you thought, unable to resist leaning down to scoop them into your arms as you stood. alice makes a sound of brief surprise before their arms loop around your neck. they sat pliantly still as you walked over to follow cater inside the kitchen, catching a glimpse of your scent that they sought for, so alice nuzzles their face into the warm pulse on your neck.
trey glances up from the animated retelling of cater about the crazy day. ânew responsibility?â he wore a humored smile, apron long discarded and folded over the handle of the oven for the meantime.
if riddle saw this, he would not believe it no matter how intelligent he was. trey deduced.
he gestures to the tray set on the counter. âthereâs frosted strawberries, blueberry cornmeal, and the good old mont blanc since i got left over ingredients from the last unbirthday party.âÂ
alice feels the shift of your head as you glanced down at them, they donât remove their head from the crevice of your neck for a moment and meets your eyes with a raise of their own. âfrosted strawberries, please.â
âgood choice, little alice.â cater comments.
âcareful, itâs hot.â trey chided gently as he watched you pick up one of them, drawing it near aliceâs waiting hunger as they tilted their head up from your shoulder. they took a small bite at the corners of the tart, smiling at the taste and only wider when you wiped remnants of crumbs around the edges of their mouth.
alice chews, and swallows before they spoke again. their eyes gleaming with admiration as they stared at trey. âitâs always the yummiest when itâs fresh out the oven.â they recited.
trey blinks.
âyouâre a bright one.â he remarked, ruffling their hair when he drew near. âdonât tell anyone about the wicked secret âround the kitchen, all right?â
they nodded vigorously. âthank you, uncle..â they spewed politely, but evidently genuine.
cater munches from the other end of the counter. âwe gotta protect alice,â he chuckled, eyes crinkling as he pointed his phone to you, tapping to snap a picture of the scene despite your warning stare. âtoo nice for the vultures we call students here.âÂ
âyou might be right.â trey shook his head, and you nodded mutely. more absorbed into letting them take bite by bite into the tart until it was about finished halfway. only then do you lay it back on the tray. how much sweets was ideal for a child to take anyway? regardless of you deeming it as enough, alice stays quiet and does not complain.
if they wanted more, you wouldnât know.
âlater.â you promised, leaning back when you were satisfied with their prim appearance. a pat of their hair to smooth down treyâs earlier disruption.
âlater..â alice echoed.Â
a resident third year enters the kitchen. only to pause in their tracks and back away.
âdomesticity is really the enemy of the students here.â cater sniffed, earning a chuckle from trey who found the comment funny. âimagine being happy, being broody and emotional are the real requirements to get admitted.â
cater finishes his snack with a pleased hum, and a grateful nod to trey. âby the way i messaged adeuce, sent them to stall dorm leader from going back as long as the dorm was⊠kind of in a wreâpredicament.â he cleared his throat, casting a brief glance at alice to spot if they had taken offence to his almost uttered word.
âso now theyâre en-route?â trey guessed, transferring the leftover tarts to a glass bowl. leaving the tray in the sink to wash for later. cater nods in response, typing on his phone with one hand. likely in cahoots with the two right now. âtold them the coast was clear! no more trampling soldiers scampering around.â
trey eyed him. âwhat about theââ
just then, whatever trey was going to comment in rebuttal of caterâs easy reassurance was promptly interrupted by new individuals peeking inside. ace, and deuce poked their heads from the corner. as if trying to ascertain the danger level of whatever may be inside.
ace rougly nudges deuce when he spots you with a child in arms. for two people insisting on their unique, varying selfs. they mirror each otherâs look of bewilderment as though their brain cells crackled and connected into a singular one. âwhat the seven?â ace mouthed.
you all do not notice the look of familiarity on aliceâs face.
nor the brightening when riddle strides in with a petulant huff,
if riddle thought strangely, or disapproved of the twoâs behavior then he wouldnât have had the chance to comment on it before he was leveling trey with a sharp, inquisitive stare. âi would like a very good explanation as to why my hedges have been mangled to the ground.â his eye twitches with the effort of containing irritation. âthree hours iâve been gone. three! and when i enter heartslabyul the first thing i see is devastation upon my gardens!â
perhaps emotionally, riddle cried out in the last sentence.
even though such an expression should have frightened a child to some degree, alice relaxes in your arms but their face clouds in shame at his voice.
riddle whirls back to the other two lingering by the doorway who both flinches imperceptiblyâcater tries to intercept with a nervous chuckle but is only met with a steely donât even start! âace, and deuce have me running around the school. saying something about yuu getting kidnapped by those.. vermin excuses of⊠students from octavinelle!" riddle seethed, breathing still a bit labored as favor of his statement about running around.
âdorm leader!â ace stood straight stiffly.
oh, did he just come from a frantic search in octavinelle?
âi even had to threaten collaring azul who i thought was lying about yuu.â with a deep intake of air, riddle breathes out and pinches the bridge of his nose, collecting his temper. much to the chagrin of deuce.
âwe apologize.â deuce added sadly.
cater feigns ignorance by looking away but itâs treyâs look that has him adding to the defense of the two, rather than using the opportunity to scamper away with his head in tact. âahem⊠we had these two keep you busy. so donât be too harsh on them, riddle. us upperclassmen will take responsibility.â
a nod of agreement from trey gets riddle quiet.
the former tilts his chin to you. âyuu is fine, theyâre right here.â
like he hadnât even noticed before (he really didnât), riddleâs head snaps to you immediately. his eyes would have been stuck to you, prodding for a valid explanation to your ignorance to his angry calls but instead, settles on the bundle in your arms.
âwhoâŠâ a blink. âwhy in the world do you have a child! they are not welcome on school grounds! especially this time in the school yearâ.â riddle sputtered, instinctively sauntering over to take a closer look at alice who only stared without an inch of fear.
âpapa.â they mumbled, voice measured but still echoing in the now quiet kitchen.
ace leapt up to your side. âthatâs not right!â he gasped, squinting dangerously at riddle. any traces of earlier mortification gave way to whatever emotion heâs got on his face. âhow could you sully yuu! theyâre not a babysitter for your kid!âÂ
âwhat?â riddle seethed, head flicking from ace, to you, then to alice.
despite a look of great reluctance, deuce nods from the doorway still. mumbling to himself. âdorm⊠dorm leader has a childâŠâ
you vaguely remember trey offering the dazed guy a glass of water.
âunconfirmed earlier, confirmed now.â cater adds unhelpfully to the blazing fire of riddleâs rising anger.
riddleâs teeth grind together, jaw clenching as his fingers tightened into a fist. it was more of one his attempts at calming down rather than preparation for a physical alteration. âI did no suchâ!â
âdonât be mad at mada.â alice reaches for him, tugging at his blazer which surprisingly, quells the reddening of his face. now, he just looks a bit confused.
alice turns their head slightly. âmada, you can calm down papa.â
deuce paused before dropping to the ground.
âAH! heâs dead. this is why you donât betray us by keeping secrets, yuu!âÂ
âuh oh⊠trey help me with deuce⊠wait, should we just leave him? i mean, heâll be just fine here, right?â
â... just take the other arm, cater.â
all the way back to the living room, riddleâs face remained tinged with warmth. alice, while reluctant to part with your embrace, seemed wholly pleased to stay by the other red-heads' side. insisting you sit next to him when you moved to sit by your two friends.
you obliged them despite riddleâs interest with the carpet.
the couch dipped at the weight of another. even so, the non-verbal conversation between alice, and riddle continued. the former pressed their lips together thinly, seemingly assessing the⊠youthfulness of the latter. they arenât so used to this kind of look from him.
cater flinched, and look away from the flash of his phone. he elbows a dazed deuce.
âso,â ace cleared his throat, blinking his still wide eyes. âwho the heck is this kid?!â
âlanguage.â riddle chided sharply. though softened from its usual end even he isnât so sure why it is from the mere presence of alice alone.Â
ârule 13, always present yourself with appropriate language.â
âalways present yourself with appropriate language.â alice repeated.
riddle squinted at a relaxed alice, who tilts their head as if to ask âwhat?â.
âgenetics is crazy. whatâs next, the kid beheads us too?â ace points between the two.Â
alice shrugged. âonly if you break the rules.â
âi do not have a child!â riddle protested.
âi am your child.â replied alice.
âapparently this oneâs our kid.â you agreed begrudgingly.
riddle stares at you with a mixture of disbelief, and confusion.
darting between you and the kid like they're gonna start collating him in all his glory! sure, alice had red hair like him but quite a lot of people in the island have it too besides his relatives. the idea of⊠of him and you is just so out of this world that he can't wrap his head around it.
you? you who he hadn't paid attention to when you arrived at the ceremony? the very first person in that event that broke the rules? you, the very fading into the background student whom he believed to be a bad influence to his students ace, and deuce?Â
you he had almost hurt beyond repair at the bursting of his control so tightly held in his hands?
the brief skip of his heart when your eyes meet over the head of alice is enough to send blood rushing to his head, coloring it with his signature red whose warmth doesn't feel like the usual simmering anger he struggles to keep submerged. if anything, this feeling is practically leaping out the water and baring his face to everyone.Â
riddle does not look away. managing a look of what he tries to name as conviction but easily crumbles to fluster.
then the idea wasn't so bad considering this young child has proved to be raised dutifully, correctly without any worries of what he used to be burdened with as a child.
it gives way to curiosity.Â
despite his incredulously, riddle queries. âthe gardens.â he starts with a measured narrow to his eyes, not too intense to possibly upset this.. future child of his whose eyes are strikingly familiar enough to halt the normal circulation of his heart once more for half a second. âwere you responsible for the destruction of some hedges I've come across?â
alice shrinks into themselves. âi'm sorry papa.â they pursed their lips, voice genuine by the lower tilt. âi thought i could use my card soldiers to look for you, and mada. you told me about this place called heartslabyul before?â
âi have?â riddle blinks. the idea isn't too bizarre, it's only natural to think back on such things.
they nodded. âyes, papa. you talk about it a lot on our fridayâs. about how it looked, how you were as it's dorm leaderâŠâ alice peeks a glance at you. âand your parties with mada.â
âunbirthday parties.â trey corrects. âsometimes birthday parties if it really is someone's birthday.â
ace perks up. âlet me tell you then! from first hand experience!â he blanched. like opening light about his own struggles in heartlsabyul magically meant the truth to riddleâs own kid. âlabyul is really strict on rules. you know on my first day, I ate a tart andââ
deuce stirred slightly.
at riddleâs glare, ace visibly wilts to which cater snaps a picture with snickers. âI mean⊠the tart was really good, made by riddle and allâŠâ he sweatdropped.
âyou shouldn't eat a tart that is not made by you.â alice replied thoughtfully. riddle can't resist a light smile at her words, feeling a sense of accomplishment as he nodded along. his hand hovers for a moment before it pats down on their hair. âthat's right. I must have taught you well.â
you absentmindedly patted their head, taking turns with riddle to do so while expertly avoiding his gaze. âyou said friday though, why?â
âon fridayâs we donât go out.â alice says.
âthat isnât a rule by the queen of hearts.â riddle points out.
âyou made that rule papa.â they replied innocently. âin our home, so we get to spend time together as a family.â
silence reigns.
âwow.â you cough. sparing riddle an approving glance. that⊠sounded nice⊠domestic, and nice. you supposed even as an adult riddle would still have some sort of grip on rules, considering he grew up with them, it helped him live.
and now rules he shaped helped him live with alice, and you apparently.Â
tick.
tock.
tick.
tock.
alice peers down at the watch they pull out from under their little adorable coat, oblivious to the stunned silence they left behind. hesitantly, they place a hand on your knee, legs swinging as they rest the other on riddleâs. âmada.â they smiled, this time widely. âpapa. I gotta go.â
âwhat?â riddle's eyes widened. âyou haven't finished your tart yet.â
âit's okay. I already ate a tart earlier, papa.â
âyou can eat another, just this time. if you want.â he insisted, strangely worried.
cater raises his hand. âcan I?â
riddle disagrees immediately. âno.â
muttering something about favoritism, cater looked away with a long sigh.
riddle's eyes lingered on the roundness of alice's face. from the shape, to the more detailed parts of their features. eyes, your eyes. the lushness of their hair, the soft curve of their lips tilted with innocence sends an unexpected grip in his heart, like it's heart stopping.
gosh. his heart just stopped. would he really have his own alice? his eyes darted to you. with you?
alice huffed lightly, skin glimmering lightly as their shade slowly grew transculent and faded with each blink of your eyes. âI can always eat papa's tarts. they're so delicious.âÂ
âdon't use too much magic.â riddle scolded with a crease in his brows.
you add. âdon't anger riddle too much.â
âplease eat his tarts.â ace encouraged.
trey shot him a look. âdon't teach alice bad things.â he sighed, glancing at said child with a smile. âI'll teach you how to make your own tarts, ask uh⊠future me?â
cater, not wanting to be outdone quickly perked up. âas a future magicam star, I'll make you one too. little alice!â he added, self assured of his future fame.
when it all settles, all that remains is a space between you and riddle that feels too little than vast. and a remainder of your future.
âatleast we know what name we'll choose.â you can't resist but tease. riddle does not blow up like you would have thought from your remark, only sparing you a look of feigned annoyance with warming ears that doesn't support the idea of his irritation.
he resigns to a small nod. âI am assured they are taught well.â
ace glances between you, and riddle. âI miss alice already. riddle seemed a lot more lenient with them around. you think they got embarrassing stories from the future?â he comments off-handedly, leaning back against the couch and blowing on the fringe over his forehead. âwhen are you guys gonna make an alice? please make one now.â
cater whistles out of there.
trey shakes his head.
deuceâstill passed out is thankfully considered by trey, who dragged his limp body with a nod of goodluck to ace.
you waved at ace. F indeed.
wait! don't leave me, upperclassman! ace cried in his mind, feeling the panic splinter his state of mind.
âACE!â riddle gritted his teeth. âi'll hand down my sentence, the verdict comes afterwardsââ
ace paled.
âoff with your headâ!â
trivia
aliceâs name is very much inspired by alice from the one and only: âalice in wonderlandâ.
their unique magic is called: under my decree which is simply being able to summon card soldiers, and command them at their will! (in this case, after being sent to a maze and finding their way out thanks to the hedgehog. alice was able to discern that this was heartlsabyul, and figured they might be able to find their parents here, hence, why they used their magic.)
alice is written to be a well-behaved 8 year old.
the watch is a nod to my previous commissioned work who also dealt with the concept of time travelling and related to going back (ha, ha).
alice woke up by the sound of a clock ticking, and knew that hearing it again meant that their time was up.
the entire thing happened due to alice helping untangle a fae who happened to get stuck in their gardens at the backyard while they were looking for a hedgehog that had not yet eaten (spoiler: hedgehog was hiding in a small crack under the tree) the same fae visited them at night whilst sleeping and granted them a dream of whatever they wanted to wish. alice, feeling swayed by the magic despite being not aware made a wish to fulfill it.
boom! baby rosehearts in your faces!
alice woke up and immediately said young riddle was funnily shy to yuu. much to the confusion of actual current riddle!
their favorite tart is: anything with strawberries, like riddle.
rule 13, and rule 102 are entirely fictional and made up by me⊠for plot purposesâŠ
