I'm sorry - we could have had a scene in S4 Merlin where Arthur fights each of his top knights and beats them whilst merlin watches because he can't imagine merlin thinking any of them could ever beat Arthur in any kind of fight and uses the cover of finding the 'whole package' in a man for his knights to do so?

Peacock Arthur? Showing off? FOR MERLIN? I'm not even looking all that hard. Turn up the volume, Merlin deliberately goads him (it takes zero effort) into sparring with each and between fights, it transforms from practical to something very different.

Arthur always goes back to Merlin. merlin is the one he's sharing his misgivings with and Merlin challenges him on it, but he doesn't realise that merlin just really wants to confirm Arthur as top dog. Because why not?

And then it ends with Arthur in Merlin's face, 'see? I'M better Merlin, me'.

And Merlin? Agrees. No effort.

For the knights I think they’re def the most chaotic people you’ll ever meet but like, controlled chaos? Obviously Leon’s the mum friend and keeps them from getting seriously injured and stuff but they’d be menaces to society none the less

This fucking took me out

EVERYONE WHO HASN'T YET NEEDS TO GO READ "Where I'm Meant To Be" by WhiteRoseCottage. The premise is perfect and it's so funny and sweet. I love the idea that Merlin didn't spend a thousand years wallowing in grief and that, while Arthur is undoubtedly the love of his life, he had a full and interesting life without him, with friends, jobs, hobbies and even lovers (William Shakespeare and him was the crack ship I didn't know I needed). He's such a brave, loving and resilient person and it seems like a waste to have him go through eternity depressed. Just thinking about the entire century he spent waiting for Arthur near the lake makes me want to fight God.
