I have a personal love of the idea of Ford and Stan being confused for married husbands on the open sea, like people just assume they’re together and they just…go with it 🤭

I love that idea too!! If we put aside the "they literally look the same" aspect they certainly have all the merits to be confused for husbands. Wdym you're travelling across the world together on your tiny boat with a single bed? It's always fun to imagine how would they react (ESPECIALLY in pre-relationship) to the "so how long have you been together" question. I think Stan would panic a bit and get self-conscious ("do we really look like that? am i ogling my brother's ass too obviously??"), but Ford would instantly snatch an opportunity to act all romantic with Stan (in public!! aint that a jackpot). He's saying the corniest shit like "oh, we've known each other since we were kids, but it's only recently I've realized the love of my life was by my side all along" and while people think it's cute Stan is mortified. And of course they don't talk about it back at the boat. It's just a prank, right? A silly joke. Nothing weird was happening, nevermind all that ^_^ Please tell me how do you see it!! You can have all sorts of approaches with an idea like that so I'll be happy to see other people's perspectives (i love stancest fandom sm!!!!!!)

Thinking out loud

A few days ago I saw someone on TikTok kinda trashing how much Stancest content there is on Ao3. Most people seemed to agree, but honestly? If I see a ship with tons of fanfics, my first thought is like—wait, am I missing out on something huge? Like, maybe there’s actually some fire stuff going on there.

Hmm, anyways…

Stan and Ford both go and get infinity bracelets, the permanent jewelry kind, and they use that as their wedding rings. They know they can’t really get married, on land at least, and with how much they work with their hands rings would simply get in the way. Plus, they don’t need their friends and family asking questions they can’t answer

But international waters are lawless, so they have their own little wedding ceremony on the Stan O’ War II near the Bermuda Triangle (Ford insisted). It’s just Stan, Ford, and some sort of Siren-ish creature (a hybrid or subset of the species perhaps) officiating their wedding. They connect the ends of the chains, Ford connecting Stan’s and Stan doing Fords, as the sun rises over them. Giving each other a passionate and heartfelt kiss as the golden rays shine over them, reflecting off their and their bracelets. Like their bracelets, chains unlinked and broken, they have come together to form their perfect union, never to break their circle and to stay together for the rest of their lives

(And then they spend their honeymoon fucking nasty style)

When I was 13, I loved scrolling through Google for fanart and reading Pinecest fanfics on Wattpad. Eight years later, not much has changed—I’m doing the same thing with Stancest here on Tumblr and Ao3

God, I miss Pinecest 😩

I started this blog as a pinecest-specific sideblog, but even then I was late to the party. Literally days after making this blog, doublepines password-locked her blog, and then soon after deleted it. Everybody aside from a few lovely stragglers was kinda over it, every art had been drawn, every fic had been written, every theory had been theorized. It was time to move on. Sure, there was a fun little afterparty when the twins turned 21 and a few more times after, but the hype and interest had largely fizzled out.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED being a part of that afterparty. I just wish I could’ve been there for the golden days of Pinecest. When GF was getting new episodes, and people were realizing how cute these twins were together. I wish I knew what the culture of this little corner of the fandom was like, before the party started to die down. Back then, I wasn’t exactly an anti or anything, but the concept of being pro-ship was entirely foreign to me, and things like shipcest seemed gross, yet deep down I was intrigued. I missed out before I even knew the party had started. I can romanticize it in my mind all I want, but I really have a feeling that it was something special. Pinecest as a ship is so deceptively wholesome, people see “cest” and clutch their pearls, but when the oh-so-delicious taboo and angst are stripped away, they’re a cute, loving couple who only want the best for each other. I imagine the fandom surrounding the ship must’ve been just as wholesome in its heyday - excluding the occasional toxic fan and of course the rabid antis, but that can’t be helped.

I dunno, I just… I wish we could revive that again in earnest. I miss you, Pinecest 😭
