One Day We'll Be Old - Lewis Hamilton

Summary: Lewis is struggling with Mercedes and after some rational words and maybe a little slap of truth he'd been too petty to admit. He begins to think about what the rest of his life with his girlfriend looks like and how long he's really got with her.

Old soul/very rational and calm!reader

Y/n smiles clapping her hands at her boyfriend as he walk towards the Mercedes unit after the finishing the media duties. He looks defeated and when he scoops her up in a hug she can feel his need to just be with someone who he feels safe and loved by.

Mercedes as a team loves and cares for Lewis but the actions on track don't feel like that and he's struggling to keep his head held high.

"It's ok. you did good. I'm so proud of you." Y/n smiles as he seems to hide his face in her neck while she gently rubs his back. "We've got a flight out of here back home in a couple hours. Debrief quick and then we can go."

"Yep. Let's make it quick." Lewis sighs earning nod before he kisses her. "I love you."

"I love you too. Let's get you moving." Y/n whispers her smile and soft voice seeming to bring a smile to his face.

Y/n does put effort in to reassure him and it works every time but really anyone who knows Lewis knows that she brings comfort to him and soothes him just from being present and there. Even just holding her hand settles him from any spike in emotion or nerves that he's been feeling.

The age gap earns judgement but y/n is an old soul who honestly is probably more mature than anyone that works in F1. Even more mature than Lewis himself.

Y/n sighs as they get into the first class section and she looks at her boyfriend as she gets him to take the window seat.

His mood still hadn't lifted much and y/n knows better than to push him into a good mood when he's not ready to be pushed into it.

One thing he does in a silent request for her touch is move the arm rest up making her smile and move to hug him. His tight hold giving her a sense of his emotions without any words.

She sighs tucking her hand under his top and just rubbing his skin with her hand to try and relax him at least enough to get through the flight without letting his upset get the better of him. And thankfully he falls asleep with no problem.

It's not too long of a flight so y/n doesn't end up sleeping instead managing to corral a flight attendant into getting her book from her carry on and starts reading while still in Lewis' hold. Making the mental note to give them a tip before they get off the flight.

"Are you reading more filth while on top of me?" Lewis questions making her look up at him grinning as she gently swats his thigh. "That's a yes."

"I read it for the plot."

"The plot being sex-you know you have me for that in real life right?" Lewis smirks while she jams the bookmark in and tucks it aside.

"Feeling in a better mood then?" Y/n asks softly earning a small nod. "We can talk about it at home if you need to."

And when they get off the flight with y/n making sure to tip the flight attendant for his aid with her book, then they head home and after a lot of cuddles with Roscoe who is over the moon to see his dad return home.

"Come on then, tell me what's happening." Y/n sighs as she gives him one of his pre-made meals from his chef who obviously keeps him on his diet and makes actually some of the best vegan meals she's ever seen. "I can't help if I don't know what you're thinking and as much as I pretend I'm a mind reader, I actually can't ."

Lewis smiles at his girlfriend's honestly. If there's one thing she should teach classes in, it's good communication. In fact it's almost communication to an extreme. She has such open communication style that Lewis is sometimes amazed by it.

"I knew leaving the team would come with the risk of being isolated and not favoured in races. But I thought the history would at least look past that." Lewis admits earning a softened expression. "It's not like it's everyone."

"It was a risk you too though, they feel betrayed by you too." Y/n states since she understands that Lewis has struggled with Mercedes for a couple years. "They're hurting that you're leaving because it feels like they gave you a lot of what you have and...now they're struggling you're leaving a sinking ship rather than staying with the team as they try to keep it a float...the way you feel now is how they felt discovering you're leaving."

Lewis hates that she's right and he hates even more to know that he's bringing any hurt to the team who may not have started his career in F1 but they certainly gave him so much.

"Just wait because they'll regret being like this and you can leave knowing you gave it your everything to work with them." Y/n smiles lightly then taking another breath in. "But you could stop with the comments to the media, it won't aid you if you want one last win with them."

"I'm not sure if I want a final win. They don't seem to care and I doubt they'd be there...Australia and Singapore gave me enough evidence for that." Lewis mutters which does really just break y/n's heart.

"You know...Michael Schumacher retired in Ferrari and came back into Mercedes before retiring again but everyone associates him with Ferrari no matter that he didn't end with them as a world champion in his final season." Y/n states while Lewis watches her knowing exactly what she's going to say. "You can leave Mercedes, but Mercedes will never leave you. It's ingrained into you. So you can either embrace the last few months or you can spend them fighting. Would you not rather have the ability to say you did everything to end on a good note even if they did nothing to work with you for the same?"

Now this is how Lewis knows y/n is a better person than him and maybe he'd say it's easy for her to suggest that he be the bigger person. But in the same way he knows she right on a moral level.

Two wrongs have never mad a right. Them wronging him doesn't give justice for him to diss the entire team when it's not the entire team hurting him. Many are doing their best to give him the best last year with them.

But he's feeling petty after that race and he's annoyed because George's had a scrappy race at best. Too many mistakes to justify him getting the podium.

Lewis ended up taking Roscoe out for a walk and when he gets back he finds y/n actually doing the house chores that he usually relies on his housekeeper to do. Soft music playing to fill the silence, just loud enough that she definitely hasn't realised he's back.

Y/n is just humming to herself sorting through their dirty clothes before she tosses them in the washing machine before disappearing into the closet while Lewis smirks and follows her.

It maybe is a little alarming that she's not noticed him in the slightest. But he also kind of likes seeing what she does when he's not around.

Seeing her in the closet he watches her reach into some of his hung up hoodies, some of which he's definitely never worn, before pulling it on since actually Monaco isn't as warm as she'd wish for it to be right now.

While she's pulling it on, he takes the opportunity to creep up on her and wraps his arms around her just as her head pops through the head hole. No surprise she jumps and he manages to shift his head back narrowly avoiding being head butted from her body jumping and spinning to see where he's gone.

"Lewis-when did you get back?" Y/n gasps making him smile at her.

"A few minutes ago. You were putting stuff in the washing machine." Lewis shrugs. "It's nice getting a peek at what you do when I'm not around."

"Not the most exciting or thrilling stuff." Y/n laughs lightly before she leans her head back to look at him more. "You seem to be in a better mood."

"I am. Much better mood." Lewis assures her while she smiles softly and kisses him. "I have you to thank, even if you are annoyingly kind and maybe too good for this world. You're right about wanting to be the bigger person."

"Well, the backhanded compliments are an interesting way to say I'm right but I'll take it."

"I do think, even with a few years left in the sport...we should talk." Lewis states making her almost step back with an uncertain look. "I'm trying to follow your lead with open communication."

Y/n looks at him with a raised eyebrow before she nods and gestures for them to get into the living room to have the talk since the closet doesn't exactly feel like the comfortable place for serious discussions.

After sitting down Lewis begins to feel the who idea of this discussion set him on edge a little.

"We've never really talked about the future with us." Lewis states making her raise her look at him in shock.

"No, we haven't...I didn't want to scare you." Y/n laughs lightly then sighing lightly with a smile. "What does our future look like to you?"

"You do make me want to settle down a little. But I have to finish the job with Ferrari. That's about 3 years...will you wait?" Lewis asks making her smile a little.

"That's a pretty big as for someone as young and with so much more life left in me." Y/n sighs leaning back with a faux solemn expression. "This was really just meant to be a bit of fun for a little bit."

A little bit in this case being now nearly 2 years.

"You're such a tease." Lewis laughs knowing she's only playing it up to mock him for even needing to ask if she'd wait for him to finish his F1 career as a driver.

"Lewis, neither of us are old yet. Just because you're coming to the end of your career as an F1 driver-a very long career that you should be so proud of...because I know everyone else is so proud of you. But when you do retire, it's a new life that you've got a lot of living to do in. And I'm going to be there with you throughout it all. Unless you decide you want rid of me...in which case I'll probably cry and take forever to get over you, but I hope we spend a long time living together."

"So if one day...sooner or later, I proposed or we starting hitting other milestones. You'd stick around and be happy?"

"Lewis, you make me so happy every single day and I know you give me a lot of credit for being the way I am...but you've influenced me to be a happier person even if you don't realise it." Y/n smiles moving closer to him. "You've really taught me how to actually have fun in life and not be that serious even if I am still...pretty serious about everything."

Lewis smiles pulling her over to straddle him with a sigh as he rubs her thighs.

"You have my promise, I'll be here every step of the rest of your career and after that, I'll be there to live our life together. You've got a hell of a long time with me." Y/n promises earning a grin. "And never ever think that you've got any less time in this world than me. Ok? One day we'll be old, but it's not any time soon and we're going to be old together, not one then the other. So you're not old till I'm old."

"That sounds great to me." Lewis nods before she leans over and kisses him. "I love you."

"I love you too."

Jeez, imagine being on a vacation minding your own buisness.

After weeks of long shoots, professional commitments/ contracts and hardwork.

You are trying to lay low and not draw any attention. Needing some time for yourself. But somebody shoots a video of you without your consent (it's borderline stalking btw), then posts it on a SM platform. No context. No other information. Just a little video clip. It gets viral from there and random strangers start speculating, screaming and gossiping hiding behind their keyboards, starting some flashy/clickbait twitter hashtags, calling you all sort of names, presenting "Online Harassment- Exhibit A", accusing you of being an awful person when you have been nothing but loving, kind, compassionate and considerate towards all of them for more than a decade.

Hmm... Life as a super famous celebrity can also be really tough sometimes. Everybody sees the privilege, nobody sees the demanding nature and enormous pressure, adverse effects of public scrutiny and constant judgement.

Travelling right now is by no means wisest and safest of the choices. But stalking, obsessing, harassing people online, spewing hatred, quick judgemental tendancy, hypocritical responses all of these are way, way worse than that. Not healthy for you at all.
