Shizuka’s initial personality seems fitting with her rather ethereal look. She doesn't seem to really mingle with people, preferring to spend time alone in Chinju Forest or near nature, and chooses not to speak unless spoken to. She is often occupied by her thoughts and duty, which proves to be difficult to gain her attention without an arrow sent your way. She shows great discomfort in conversing with strangers and the discomfort is expressed in a plethora of ways, ranging from sneaking away or scratching at her skin as she speaks, to flat out ignoring people, often unintentionally rubbing off as distant to the people around her.

When she does speak, Shizuka is truthful as she finds great difficulty and disgust in lying, leading her to sometimes be described as 'brutally honest'. Her words can often be quite harsh and pierce a person’s feelings, though she rarely means harm when she speaks unless the encounter is hostile. Should anyone visiting Chinju Forest pose a threat to its inhabitants and nature, Shizuka is quick to pick up her weapon and eliminate them without hesitation in burning rage. Getting to know her is nearly impossible, partly due to her ailment and her refusal to stray away from her duty, however once a person has gotten though her seemingly thick shell, they often find she is much more than what is presented.

By a few close friends, Shizuka has been described as thoughtful, appearing to always be aware of the needs and wanted of those around her, and often willing to give up her own comfort and need for the sake of her friends. She is greatly loyal to a select few people, willing to risk injury and life for their sake if Fate calls for it. For a lengthy time, this loyalty had been directed towards her family, but recently her kindness has been known to have no bounds, her heart reaching out to even the smallest of creatures and people in despair with sincere comfort. For her, it is a sacred duty to care and protect the innocence of life.

For majority of her life, Shizuka's wardrobe has been foraged and stolen from the laundry of Konda Village's wives by the creatures that cared for her. It was until Yae Miko offered Shizuka a spare shrine maiden uniform tailored to the latter's liking in exchange that she inhibits from attacking people visiting Chinju Forest.

From the moment of her birth, Shizuka was unable to decipher the faces of people with her eyes and familiarize them in her mind. Due to this, she had to depend on hair color, voice, clothing, and unique habitual behavior to recognize a person -- however, it isn't full proof as often she could confuse people for someone else. Following from an aftermath when she was twelve, her vision has worsened due to the scars on her face.

She has a particular fondness for Mizu Yokan, a dessert she was introduced to by a kind couple when she was ten years old. While she does enjoy many aspects of Inazuman cuisine, mizu yokan is perhaps the only dessert she'll ever eat due to the memories of her once happy adoptive parents.

On rare occasions does Shizuka leave Chinju Forest alone in the hands of Ioroi because of the latter's persuasion. However, she only goes to visit "Otou-san" and spend time with him as she doesn't see the need to overindulge herself in Inazuman culture. While she does have to ask for directions to where the old man is staying, it is the very few things she particularly enjoys outside of her duty.

As a writer I wanted to ask if numbers (specifically likes or reblogs) matter to you? I want to start posting on Tumblr (reader-inserts for TWST too) but I'm scared I'll end up getting demotivated due to a lack of traction :( I know people say to just write for yourself but what would the point of posting it be then? I just wanted to know your opinion on this.

Oh my answer is going to be a little lengthy! I'll be answering this based on my own perceptions so it's totally fine if people think differently than me :>

Short answer: mostly yes, and i don't think it's a bad thing to care about numbers 😌 but dont let it consume you and as much as possible try not to let it discourage you from writing what you want!

Long answer: Personally, above all, feedback matters to me the most! Hearing what people think/if people enjoyed my fics is much more important that seeing numbers go up.

However in most cases feedback does count towards the numbers— other than feedback through asks, feedback tends to come in the form of reblogs (both reblog in text and tags) or in replies on Tumblr, which contribute to the notes count. Plus, because the tagging system isn't always... working, reblogs, which also contribute to notes and therefore numbers, are incredibly important in getting your work out there, thus getting feedback, which in turn usually gives fic writers the motivation to keep writing and posting. Likes, well, don't really do anything to get your stuff out there even though your notes will mostly be comprised of likes, but they're kind of cute to see, especially when it's a name you recognize like a "it's you again!" or a "wait that's someone i follow they liked something i wrote?"

Plus, I'm just a really big fan of looking at numbers, which is why I said my perception might be different. I like math and love statistics, so it's kind of satisfying seeing something go from 8 notes to a hundred.

Still, I honestly think the TWST community (even with some bad apples) has a lot of very supportive people when it comes to writers, who love giving writers attention, especially newer blogs. The community isn't perfect but it's a community consistently growing and a community that can never get enough of content, so there's always room for more fic writers, and artists in general, you know?

I think it never hurts to at least try and dip your toes in writing and posting! See I think the key thing when people connect writing for yourself to not caring about the numbers is to actually write for yourself and at your own pace? In my years of experience writing there were a few things that got me to stop. The first was just losing interest in the fandom, it's normal and it's okay, the second is lack of feedback, which if you've put out work you're happy enough to post it's on the audience's part to provide it, and the third is burnout from requests.

The thing is when you get requests, you work on it and there's this added pressure of getting it out quickly and making sure it has to be good enough for others to like it and not just yourself, and then if it gets little feedback and numbers, it feels like a double whammy? basically awful. of course writing for yourself doesn't mean never take requests, go for it especially if it's something that motivates you and you enjoy! but what i'm saying is try not to be too harsh or give yourself too much pressure so you enjoy the writing process and you have less regrets overall...

and well, sometimes you just have writing slumps and that's normal. If you ever encounter it I promise there's no harm in taking a break, maybe do other things until you find the motivation to write again. Most people do not have the motivation to pump out fics regularly without pause and you shouldn't pressure yourself to do the same! Some days you'll probably find yourself writing a lot and some none at all and that's normal!

Anyway this post is getting long haha but yeah, I think just find a healthy balance— it's okay to care about the numbers but try not to stress too much over it, try your hand at posting, and if you do find yourself demotivated then remember to take appropriate measures whether it's to take a hiatus or writing for a different fandom or whatever you need to do

Plus, you know, general reminder that many writers leave due to lack of reblogs replies and feedback in general, and seeing people leave might discourage others from even starting, so as much as possible show your writers love even if it's just an ask 💖

Let me tell you a story about “How I met my mutuals” then uwu)~

I know @daily-scarabia and @daily-diasomnia in real life because they were my classmates from high school. They’ve stuck by my side throughout the years, and although we often tear at each other’s throats, we love each other /p all the same. We are the Sebek to each other’s Malleus LOL

My first Tumblr friends are @kreidenprinz-imagines, @unknown-aisling, @prince-les and @promisedvictories. I met them while I was still writing for Identity V back then (I used to have a blog called identityvarchives), and they’re honestly the kindest and sweetest people ever. We hit it off when we started chatting with each other in the discord server I made (it was public at first but it eventually became a close friends type of server), and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Then I left Identity V permanently (so long toxic fandom-) and entered the Genshin fandom. @melkxsh, @istannorcas, @lesmouche and @hvrbinqer are the people I got close with while I was happily producing stories every day, and if it wasn’t for their existence, I wouldn’t have enjoyed my time as a Genshin writer (I still like writing for Genshin but my motivation is elsewhere at the moment-).

And now, my Twisted Wonderland era. I’ve made so many wonderful friends here:

@yu-shi-lost-in-wonderland - my first friend in the twst fandom (and the one who helped me get comfortable). She sent in asks while I was still a new twst writing blog, and from there, we just started talking to each other more often and found out that we’re fellow introverts who like to take our time in responding to messages. We’re similar in a lot of ways, and I consider her as a sister <3

@fr0st-km + @sinsinrants - these two came as one package, and I followed them back when I discovered that they’re both Indonesian- As soon as I became friends with Frosty, I also became friends with Crayon Sin XD The amount of times they’ve made me laugh with their shenanigans on the dashboard, and the amount of times Crayon Sin has made me lose braincells because of the Indonesian memes they’d tag both of us in...

@blossomized-loveshow + @twistedlovenotes - another pair that came as one package. They were already friends with each other from the start, so I snatched both of them up when Nae approached me in my dms because of the Haniwa songs I used for the Ace hcs with a J-POP idol fem!S/O. They’re my cute babies who I will protect with my mama bear paws <3

@nanamisflowerfield - I accidentally discovered Nana while I was going through my followers list (I have the notif for new followers turned off) and recognised her URL. Checked out her blog, saw that she writes for Genshin and twst (and that she plays Tales of Luminaria-), and hit the follow button. I’ve sent her a few asks before and the way she responds never fails to make me smile >w<)/

@lovelettersforganyu - Silver simp (future Ayato simp). We bonded through our love for Silver, and also because she approached me via discord. I like flustering her using my Jamil bot because the way she goes absolutely bonkers is hilarious :DD

@glamorousruins - Ruin is one of my early followers. I’ve had my eye on him for the longest time because of his blog title “Riddle’s Personal Foot Stool” (also bestie your game desc... “foot stool mode activated”...). It had me laughing for hours, but I was slightly intimidated by his Riddle pfp for some reason (IT WASN’T EVEN THE SCARY ONE. IT WAS RIDDLE SMILING BUT IDK I WAS LIKE “I wanna talk to him but-”). We only started talking in dms and became mutuals recently, and his loose hair Sebek doodle had me simping for the tsundere crocodile for days.

@glass-cage-of-emotion-12 - AURIEEEEEEE is also one of my early followers! I didn’t know they had a writing blog until recently so I’d say she’s one of my newer mutuals. Although we’ve only interacted a little, they’ve been nothing but kind and supportive to me. My eyes also popped out of their sockets when I found out that they live in Malaysia, because that’s where I grew up.

@twstedtales - Apparently, she found me through my Genshin story “The Beginning” on Quotev (it’s also posted on my other socials, including Tumblr), and traced me back to my blogs which she follows. I happened to be looking through my followers list again (I do this once every blue moon so it was lucky timing-) and saw her. I immediately recognised her URL so I followed back LOL and BAM we mutuals~

@floral-poisons - Apparently, they’ve been following me with their main blog and I just wasn’t aware lmao- We recently became mutuals because I found them through one of Lyza’s posts! They’re super friendly and their headcanons are fun to read through~

A simple recollection lost to the whispers and gossip, in fear or in awe younger him did not know. All ■■■■■ could muster from his memories was the face of his twin sister and mother's gentle love embracing him and praising him for his victory.

From his young pestering pleads, his mother sat him down and retold him the story of how he received these branching flowers on his entire body. His mother would always start the recollection with the same beginning, his sister listening quietly beside him. "It was created by your heart, determination to protect your other half."

For many years, since he was old to walk and fight, ■■■■■ had taken the role of Lady Yingyue's protector and carried the duty with pride. One could dare say in his sister's grace, he became her decoy to trick and teach those wanting manipulate her a lesson they would not forget.

It wasn't until the eve of their 13th birthday, the cycle of promised protection ended with the cruel torture and the lightning's blessing. Smiling proudly as if he climbed all the way to Celestia and back to his family's embrace victorious.

"You asked if I was proud of you that night, before falling unconscious." It was a rare moment to see his mother looking at him with genuine adoration, the suddened softening of her stern scowl. "I was and always will. That gift which burns so brightly in your hands speaks of your strength and love. Carry your flowers with pride, my little spider."

Often the storm of opinionated pity and disgust for his story is heard trailing after him, but ■■■■■ still dances in the weather by his sister's side without a care in the world, the refulgent vision and scars he carries an honest attestation of life. It is through this memory told by tale, adventures he ventures on be nothing more than the fruits of his labor made through enigmatic means and promises.
