Der Nachtkrapp or Nachtkrabb is a horror figure in children’s stories. It’s common in the southern German folkslore. He’s portrayed as a raven like creature and is said to take away the children roaming the streets at night and devouring them.

Another version is he visits the naughty children at night to take them away and devour them.

Hellblade Screens : 1/∞

A legend of the European and the Northern lands, this creature would instill terror in the hearts of the children who would not slip into bed in time. Certain tales claim that it’s terrible form bears holes in the eyes and wings, which would spread ill fortune, disease, and even death to those unlucky enough to stare into them. When you hear the Old Church bell toll and a sad wail echo through the forest, do not approach. For the Weeping Raven is there, grieving for all she lost.

It is best not to disturb her, lest you want to join her in sorrow.

My piece inspired by Ninja Theory’s incredible Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, a powerful tale woven through psychosis and the fortitude of the human spirit.

Senua and Valravn ~ The hardest battles are fought in the mind.
