20 years ago today the first episode of Avatar The Last Airbender aired, and my life was changed forever. I can’t begin to say how much this show means to me

Yarri and Tarmiks dynamic:

both of them have a lotta expectations to be mature and serious and to fill their roles but when they are together they can just be themselves and be silly and goof around without being judged

They Both are fairly good at cooking and often are the ones in the group left with the cooking responsibilities

when Yarri can’t sleep they do late night waterbending practice so she can relax

Tarmik helps her do her hair a lot

Yarri is the one who suggested to him that his younger sister (who enjoys politics much more than him) be the one to take his fathers place as advisors to the chief instead of him

hugs! They love giving each other hugs

while they love to goof off and laugh together they also comfort each other often

Yarri is the mediator when Tarmik and Zairse argue because she’s the only one Tarmik is willing to hear out

So Yarri is my past avatar oc, (most of the story is still undecided.)

tarmik is from the northern water tribe and the son of one of the chiefs advisors. He is expected by his parents and the tribe to study and have discipline and to take over as chief advisor when his father is no longer in that position. He doesn’t care much for that position or studying or discipline except for when waterbending is concerned. he found out he was a water bender at 10 and began training at 14 with many other young benders in the tribe and also unknown to him the new avatar

Yarri was found to be the avatar at 14,(on accident) only nine months after receiving her airbending tattoos, and began waterbending training.

they met at training when they where paired to practice moving the water from one person to the next, while they practiced they chatted and laughed and immediately became friends. Thought Yarri wore a thick parka with a hood so he didn’t see her airbending tattoos and had no idea she was the avatar.

one day after training they snuck to out to the cliffs outside agna quela for whatever reason and where admiring the view of the water below when Tarmik slipped and fell off the icy cliffs, Yarri quickly caught him with airbending and brought him safely back on land, so that’s how he found out she was the avatar.

after Yarri mastered water bending she had to leave the north so there was a teary goodbye, years later shortly after Yarri had mastered the elements (they are 18 now) there was a lot of unrest in the earth kingdom, the king requested the avatar to help maintain control Yarri agreed but it was a huge task for an avatar only barely masters the elements. So she decided she would recruit a few friends to help her like avatars had done in the past, she asked her friend from the earth kingdom Gina and tarmik and Zairse (a non bender from ember island)

so that’s the story thus far for yarmik (the ship name)

I drew this today, it is a combo of traditional and digital art.

two years ago today my grandmother passed. And a few months ago I found the album “Carrie and Lowell” by sufijan Stephens. Many of the songs resonated with me on a deep personal level, one of the songs (death with dignity) I related to a lot with my grandmothers death and decided I would make a lyrics drawing for the song. in the drawing I included places and things I had good memories with my grandma such as the cabin in the third picture and the cabin fireplace in the second. The rest are memories from her funeral.

Best Benders?

Um okay um. Saying it, no order because I can't make up my mind in terms of raw power or skill.

Airbenders: Aang, Yangchen, Kelsang, Gyatso, Tenzin and probably Jinora due to spirituality. Honorary mention to Zaheer (I still don't think he could have beat any of those in a fair fight except 11yo Jinora) and maybe Kai for being the best of the new Air Nation. Maybe Korra too, EoS Korra was a pretty good Airbender and among the best in LoK, but nowhere near the level of Kelsang is what I mean.

Earthbenders: Toph, King Bumi, Yun, Kyoshi and Jianzhu. Honorary mentions to Ghazan and Bolin because lavabending is cool and for Su, Lin and Kuvira who are great too (I still don't think they could beat any of the others I mentioned though).

Waterbenders: Noatak/Amon, Yakone, Pakku, Tarrlok, Katara, Korra, Kuruk, Unalaq, Ming-Hua-- btw can anyone explain why the waterbenders in LoK were all so fucking OP. Honorary mentions to people like Tonraq who are pretty good. Oh and Yue, I guess-- with the whole moon spirit thing.

Firebenders: Ran and Shaw. Okay, now seriously. Ozai, Iroh, Sozin, Jeong Jeong, Azula and probably Hei-Ran and potentially Adult Zuko. If we speak about potential, Azula is probably the strongest Firebender in the franchise, but she was 14 years old and I don't think she could have beat someone like Ozai or Iroh —much older and more experienced— even being a prodigy. Honorary mentions to Combustion Man and P'li (because boom, but tbh we didn't see that much of their bending skills), Show Zuko, Rangi, Mako and Korra because tbh they were all very good, too. Xu Ping An too, I guess. Zhao has good raw power too but that guy sucked at everything else.

alright I said I would make a post introducing the characters so here you go.

first is Zairse. This is her concept art.

She’s a non bender from the fire nation and was born on ember island.

She was taught to use the bow and arrow by her father and grandfather (her grandfather used to be a yuan archer) currently I don’t have much for her character. Though I did decide that she’s actually the last to join the little team avatar. She met avatar Yarri when her and the earthbender (idk her name yet) visited. They became fast friends and later when Yarri needed some help she asked her to help the team out.

that’s all for her. I’ll probably do the earthbender next.

I made this art on a flight earlier this week and I’m quite proud of it since I didn’t use a reference.

I’m working on a thingamabob. I got this idea to create my own story of a past avatar (except the avatars kinda inspired by me) and I now have Avatar Yarri. She is the airbender. The only other name I have is the water bender guy who’s named tarmik. The designs are not final but I love tarmiks outfit designs. I will make post for each character one I finalize their designs.
