a collection of fun doodles and studies, of some critters
Slight redesign of the brakken, working on making another info-graph for space-encyclopedia but a few bits I'll share now, unlike a few other sophont species, the Brakken weren't originally a space fairing species in-fact they weren't even sapient. A few centuries prior they were genetically modified by the Imsee and uplifted further by them. So compared to other species in locale space, their societal history is incredibly short. They may look a bit like cats, but their social structure is similar to eusocial insects.
A bit more on the Imsee

2. The Riders
The Rider or Riders are those who ride the Dragon. The Dragon cannot meet its true potential without a Rider and they are the ones at the center of a great quest. The Rider is an enigmatic figure whose origins are often left behind in history with the beasts they ride.
The Rider represents companionship, legacy, and guidance. Those who bare the Rider will find mentors in themselves and those who came before them.
This one took longer than I thought it would. I’m still iffy on the design but I think it gets the point across.
The Seers
When the Wandering God came they saw a canvas of possibilities and so they began to cast upon the void, an array of light from which the stars grew. When the Wandering one saw patterns amongst the newly made celestial sky they gave them names and then forms, and these forms became the Seers constellation given life. In that early era before time, the Seers and the Wandering God created the heavens, but eventually the god grew restless for it was in their nature to move and never be still. So prior to their departure they created an empty world and gave it to the Seers and said,
"Fill this place with wonder, and equal parts dread. Have this be a place of many tales and most all let it be well. "
With that they left, leaving only a promise that they'd return one day when the stars were right.
Decided to do a bit of painting practice, tried a different technique, not sure how i feel about it, the colors are kinda dull.
A purple space dragon partially inspired by sea-slugs. I wanted to get some more practice using colors Ii don’t normally use.
Skara, Scourge of the Beast, seeking prey or entertainment
Out of the many great beasts, and elder evils which now walk the world, it is perhaps the Nephilim which are the most powerful and feared. They are the offspring of a mortal and an angel, an inherently an unstable union. They never die nor cease to grow and so they reach monstrous proportions with even larger appetites.
Contrary to believe, Nephilim are not wicked by default, but they do require special care and attention. Unfortunately angels make for terrible parents.
A little more about the Qoati, early ideas really.
Qoati Replicants
The Qoati are my precursor species of aliens that once had a civilization across the galaxy. (really the only species known of that had a civilization that large). They have some bizarre technology, many of which defies our understanding of physics. These are essentially robots, created by the Qoati, millions of years ago to manage Interspace (an artificial alternate dimension) and part of their strange appearance is because, they can freely move between interspace and normal space. Some replicants are actually 6th dimensional constructs that can only exists across both interspace and normal space
As to what their made off, well that's anyone guess. But its definitely not matter that's for sure.
Design wise, I want Qoati tech to look ambiguous, almost as if your looking at something recognizable but also not really. Is this a living thing, or a statue?, what am i even looking at, kind of vibes.
