Crystal Crouching Venus From The 1st Century B.C.

Crystal crouching Venus from the 1st century B.C.

Statuettes like this one can help preserve the original (now lost) large-scale sculpture’s appearance, and capture the trends in the depictions of popular goddesses from that time.

Scott C'One Nibiru Planet X Sinks to a new low.

Brilliant vid exposing that vulgar idiot Scott C'one of the Nibiru Planet X channel. If anyone has been following his tripe and especially his latest on the tragic suicide of a British girl which he stated was an urban myth. https://youtu.be/cXLSWLpWJC0

Michael Maier - Draco Caudam Suam Devorans (Dragon Devouring It’s Own Tail), “Atalanta Fugiens”,

Michael Maier - Draco Caudam Suam Devorans (Dragon devouring it’s own Tail), “Atalanta Fugiens”, 1618. The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail. Originating in Ancient Egyptian iconography, the Ouroboros enters western tradition via Greek magical tradition and is adopted as a symbol in Gnosticism and Hermeticism, and most notably in alchemy. Via medieval alchemical tradition, the symbol enters Renaissance magic and modern symbolism, often taken to symbolize self-reflexivity, introspection, the eternal return or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself. It also represents the infinite cycle of nature’s endless creation and destruction, life and death.

Rare first edition of ‘The Map that Changed the World’ unearthed

Rare First Edition Of ‘The Map That Changed The World’ Unearthed

A rare early copy of William Smith’s 1815 Geological Map of England and Wales, previously thought lost, has been uncovered by Geological Society archivists. The new map has been digitised and made available online in time for the start of celebrations of the map’s 200th anniversary, beginning with an unveiling of a plaque at Smith’s former residence by Sir David Attenborough.

This was the first geological map of a nation ever produced, and shows the geological strata of England, Wales and part of Scotland. The newly discovered copy is thought to have been one of the first ten produced by William Smith (1769-1839), who went on to make an estimated 370 hand-coloured copies of the map in his lifetime. Jeanne de Clisson (1300-1359): the Lioness of Brittany

More historical details and footnotes up later today when I have more time. The short version is: we know she existed, that she led forces against France, that she became a pirate, and that she was protected by England. The extent of her feats varies greatly based on the telling – estimates of the length of her career as pirate range between five months and thirteen years! – but whatever the heck she actually did left quite an impression.

And here’s a quick link to buy the book!
