Fjorn's Hall: A Concise Content Catalog

***Read this post if you're looking for an online source to help you learn more about Norse/Viking history and mythology.***

↟ OVERVIEW ↟

What is Fjorn’s Hall? An affordable and accessible place for anyone to learn Norse history, literature, and lore from a reliable source.

Who runs it? Me, of course! Fjorn the Skald. I have a Master's degree in History, and I'm an inclusive person (as well as an animistic pagan, of sorts).

Who learns there? Everyone is welcome in the Hall, but racism, prejudice, and other toxic ideologies are not tolerated.

What does it offer?

Raids (aka informal courses), including readable lessons, lecture videos, quizzes, and study materials.

Resources, including lore tomes (aka reference pages for Norse gods and goddesses), digital maps, and libraries.

A Podcast with weekly episodes covering material from our Raids (along with special bonus episodes).

Access to a friendly and helpful community of fellow students (as well as a place where Fjorn can answer your questions directly).

How much does it cost? A lot is actually free, but everything else can be accessed with either a $5 or $10/month subscription.

On this day in the History of British Queens, 4th October

• 1160 - Margaret of France (wife of Henry the Young King)’s mother, Constance of Castile, dies giving birth to Margaret’s sister, Alys of France, Countess of Vexin. Constance was buried in the Basilica of Saint Denis. In addition to being Margaret’s mother, she was also the aunt of Berengaria of Navarre, who was another queen consort of England as the wife of Richard I. • 1289 - Margaret of France (wife of Edward I)’s nephew, Louis X of France, is born in Paris. He was the son of Margaret’s half-brother, Philip IV of France, and Joan I of Navarre, and was therefore the older brother of Isabella of France. • 1497 - Catherine of Aragon’s older brother, Juan, Prince of Asturias, dies aged 19 in Salamanca. • 1539 - Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves’ marriage treaty is signed. • 1638 - Henrietta Maria of France’s nephew, Francis Hyacinth, Duke of Savoy, dies aged 6 at the Castello del Valentino in Turin. Researchers document evidence of folk magic in colonial Australia
AUSTRALIA – For many, it has long been thought that there was little or no practice of witchcraft and folk magic during Australia’s colonial period.
