The glass bowl landed with a loud crash spreading cold beans and glass across her kitchen floor. The beautiful woman in Kim’s kitchen looked down and blinked. “Is that the surprise?”

“I-” her reply caught in her throat. Rather than finish it, the mechanic dropped down to pick up the remnants of the salad and the second best bowl in her apartment. The woman immediately crouched down to help her. “How did you get-”

“I’m sorry,” she said, “I should have… made my presence known earlier. I know humans- I know it’s rude to come in uninvited. I’m Hannah from-”

“From the other night,” Kim finished, “Yeah, I remember you. What are you doing here?”

Hannah took a step back, glancing awkwardly. “I’ll go. I’m sorry.”

“No,” Kim put out her hand to stop her. “No, it’s fine. I’m just… surprised. I didn’t think I left the door unlocked.”

“You didn’t.” Hannah said. Kim blinked. She really was beautiful, even in the dim lighting of Kim’s tiny kitchen. Kim couldn’t exactly place what seemed so extraordinary about the woman. Her features, reddish brown hair, clear ivory skin and an adorable button of a nose, weren’t exactly exceptional, but the mix of them gave her an ethereal effect that Kim had never seen in another person’s face before.

Hannah smiled, nervous under Kim’s scrutiny. “I’m sorry to disturb you,” she said, almost as if it were a practiced speech. “I didn’t precisely know where to go…”

“Did you and your-” but she had said she wasn’t with the man from earlier. Kim hadn’t noticed any sign of him around the apartment. “Did you split up with your friend?”

Hannah nodded, inhaling softly. “He had other business to attend to somewhere else… and I felt comfortable here. May I stay?”

“Um, sure?” Kim shrugged, at a loss for what else to do. “My daughter’s at a sleepover so if you wanted a bed bed-”

“The couch would be fine.” Hannah said. “I don’t sleep.”

“You don’t sleep?” Kim repeated and shook her head, trying not to let her curiosity ruin a beautiful woman in her kitchen asking her to stay the night. “Okay well, if you need a place to stay-”

“I don’t.” Hannah said and then shook her head, like it wasn’t quite what she meant. She thought for a moment and then said; “What I need… I’m not sure what I need, Kim. I want to be here with you. I don’t want many things but I want to be here.”

“Well,” Kim shrugged at a total loss. She gestured around the kitchen, her apartment, her entire life, “You’re welcome to it.”

“Thank you,” Hannah said. She took a step forward and kissed Kim softly. Had the Mechanic still been holding her dinner she would have dropped it again. Other women had kissed Kim before, in varying degrees of chastity and obscenity but they’d never filled her with that kind of warm, blissful light just with the touch of lips against her own. The kiss ended almost as quickly as it began with Hannah stepping back.

“I’m sorry,” she said again, “I should have asked. I just wanted to-”

“Hey,” Kim said in a shaky voice. She stepped slowly into Hannah’s space, elated when the beautiful woman didn’t withdraw further, and cupped her palm against the smooth cheek. “Whatever you want, Hannah. Whatever you want is fine.”

Hannah smiled, just a quick quirk of her lips but enough to make Kim’s heart flutter like she was back in  seventh grade, and kissed her again. Slow but insistent, the two women made their way through the small apartment and well, still intertwined onto the bed.

Kim has been tasked with taking the next big idea from Hannah Novak, the CEO of Paradiso Technology and as one of the top extractors in the business, she’s not worried about  the risks. But the job take longer than she expects and she can’t help but see more of Hannah’s subconscious and her memories than expected and she can’t help but begin to care for her. When she’s asked to plant an idea into Hannah’s head- an idea that will hopefully knock Paradiso tech. down a few pegs so that Terra Duke Conglomerate can rise up the ranks- she can’t seem to help but put herself into Hannah’s mind. She doesn’t stop there though; she introduces herself and the two find out that they work together very well. 

Kim’s life gets complicated and she isn’t sure what’s real and what isn’t, but when she’s with Hannah in her head, she doesn’t care to figure out if that’s real or not.

Notes: Prompt for hannahandkim for first meetings on a train (or subway :P ) , AU , it’s not explicitly stated but I’m headcannon-ing Hannah as demisexual in this.

As far back as Hannah can remember, she’s always enjoyed watching people although she has a hard time interacting with them. As a child sometimes she would imagine that she were an alien, and it was her mission to observe and report on human behavior. Her twin brother, Castiel, was always an exception to the rule. He understood her, and perhaps had the same problems communicating with and understanding other people outside of the two of them that she had. He liked to play the ‘aliens’ game with her.

They stuck close through grade school and high school. Because they were twins, it afforded them a tighter relationship without people trying to push them apart. When they attended different colleges they drifted apart, and Hannah was left to people watch on her own. She did make an effort to understand people, but usually fell short. Translating theoretical understanding of body language, inflection, and diction to practical knowledge of being able utilize these things while actually interacting with someone…. was difficult.

But she liked watching. Hannah liked the tidy one bedroom apartment that she had to herself and her fish. She liked the ordered schedule of her life. She was content.

Kim was tired, bone tired, dead tired. It was late, just after 9pmand she was sprawled out on the couch in her comfiest robe, hairstill wet from the long, warm shower, all alone with the kid alreadytucked into bed. Nothing on TV; bad sitcoms and worse dramas and shekind of hated Wednesdays.

Hannah was always late on Wednesdays.

But she had a weird way of turning up just when Kim startedseriously lamenting her absence. The door opened and Hannah breezedin grinning. Her hair bounced around her face, tugged up in a highponytail and held back with a bright blue sweatband that matched theoversized cut up hoodie falling off her shoulders. And okay, it wasworth the couple hours of loneliness because she always showed upbeautiful and energized, slightly sweaty but in a nice kind of way.She kicked off her shoes at the door, ridiculous neon pink things,dropped her matching bag on top and ambled over to the couch.

“Good class?” Kim asked, flipped the TV off and made room, whichwas useless anyway, since Hannah dropped down and snuggled up besideher, still workout damp, still hot as a furnace.

“Mhmm,” Hannah muttered, nuzzling into Kim’s robe, sliding onehand inside and warmly curling around her waist. “You should comewith me.”

Kim snorted a laugh and rolled her eyes, the same way she always didwhen Hannah said that, which was every Wednesday. “No, thanks. Ithink I blew out my shoulders on some twenty year old heap of junkthis afternoon. That’s enough exercise for me, thanks.”

“Aw, but it’s so much fun. We could get matching outfits.Legwarmers.”

“You’re not pleading your case very well.”

“Don’t you like legwarmers?” Hannah wiggled her legs around,covered from calf to ankle in more neon, purple this time, scrunchedover her black spandex.

“I like ‘em on you.”

“Maybe I’ll keep them on then?” Hannah only half-asked, lazilyrolling on top of Kim, sliding the big robe down around hershoulders, mouthing at her collarbone.

Kim chuckled lazily, tipping her head back, her eyes sinking closed.“Whatever you want,” she muttered. This was better than the hotshower, better than any soak in a tub, her girl brimming with thatperfect combination post-exercise energy and heat and hormones,stretching catlike on top of her. Wednesdays, late as they were,weren’t so bad.

Hannah and Kim are two of the newest crew members for sensation Gwen Campbell’s TV show. The two women are quick to strike up a tentative friendship while they navigate long hours. Kim’s compassionate nature soon leads to Hannah developing romantic feelings for her friend. She thinks it’s best to not say anything until shooting’s over, but Kim’s quick to notice her affections and suggests they might as well try dating sooner than later.

Sorry it’s a couple days late! I’ve been a little busy, but I hope you like it!

for @mrs-pants47 (it’s not letting me tag you :/) who asked for hannah/kim bowling au. i hope this is something like what you had in mind!

Hannah hates this stupid game, she decides, as she watches yet another one of her balls speed past the pins and into the gutter. She’s good at sports, always has been, but bowling is something she completely fails to grasp. Maybe it’s the tinny music blaring from the speakers, distracting her, or maybe it’s the ill-fitting shoes that smell far too strongly of antiseptics, or the obnoxious hooting from the group of high school boys a few lanes down. Whatever it is, Hannah hates it and she wants to leave.

Kim shakes her head and smiles when Hannah tells her as much. “You’ve only played three rounds, you’re not going to get it right away. Especially if you don’t stop to aim.”

"I aim," Hannah says, and immediately regrets it. She sounds enough like a bratty child already. It’s only the third date, far too soon to let herself act this way in front of Kim.

But Kim doesn’t seem fazed by it, and she doesn’t stop smiling. She stands up, grabs an orange ball, and walks up to Hannah. “Let me show you.”

Hannah opens her mouth to protest, it’s Kim’s turn after all, but then Kim has already handed her the bowling ball. She grasps Hannah’s hand, molding it into the right position. Instead of letting go when she’s done, she lets her hand trail down Hannah’s arm, linger at her elbow. Even through her shirt, Hannah feels warm from the touch, and it makes her flush lightly.

"The lane slopes, so you need to aim a little to the left," Kim tells her. "And for God’s sake, relax. This is supposed to be fun, it’s not a competition."

Hannah smiles. “You’re only saying that because you’re winning.”

"Damn straight. Now go for it."

Heaving a deep sigh, Hannah turns back to the lane. She narrows her eyes at the pins, standing stubbornly vertical, and throws the ball with as much force as she can.

It swerves too far to the left this time, landing in the gutter only halfway down the lane.

"I’m terrible," Hannah laments.

"You just need practice," Kim says. "If it’s any consolation, I’m kind of relieved to find out you’re not perfect in every way.”

Hannah looks to her right. Kim is grinning up at her, eyes glinting. “Really?”

"Really." Kim grabs her elbow again and pulls her down for a kiss. It’s a brief peck, but it still has Hannah’s heart doing loops in her chest. "And I promise, next time you get to pick where we go."

Kim is a demolition derby driver, and Hannah is her always-worrying-always-watching girlfriend who screams whenever Kim’s car gets hit, but shout whenever Kim ends up winning. Her heartbeat is always up in the hundreds when Kim is in the round, but afterwards, it’s up ot her to take Kim home, coax her into the bath and clean her wounds.

And she wouldn’t change it for the world
