There were little opportunities and even less material. Crafting a sword takes time, tools and materials, no matter if you'd make it out of metal or stone.
Before we set foot on the Perseus, I was still an unknown newcomer, and past experiences have shown not everybody is a friend to the Kingdom of Science. So handing a random person a sharp sword might've ended badly.
Aboard the Perseus, there was little reason to make one, since all we did with weapons was practice. It would have been a waste of resources that might have been needed elsewhere.
In america, while having a proper sword would have been advantageous, again, we hardly had the resources and, most importantly, time to craft one.
Beside, the wooden substitute works very well, and I...prefer not to use a sharp sword, for now. Maybe I will in the future.
//ooc: Just threw my own interpretation of canon and his character in there. Think of it what you want =D
I never thought about it before but did they explained why they never gave a real katana to Matsukaze?
Unfortunately exams are still keeping me busy 🥲
Have some more Matsugin sketches I made to keep myself sane
(Ps I did start sketching the next couple panels for the Matsu angst comic, so keep your eyes peeled for that ;3 )
Mr.Matsu!! Can you teach me how to use a blade 👀👀 im so curious but Ryuusui or senku wont let me near them
(@detectivesuikaa)
I'm afraid I cannot teach you how to use a normal sword, Miss Suika, as you are a little small for handling the weight of such a big blade.
However there is no harm in knowing how to fight with a knife. The knowledge how to handle a sharp blade from young age is an important safety precausion for oneself, so I may teach you that
will you always be loyal to @villagemultishipper even if he wronged you or any morals you stand by?
Dear Anonymous, a very interesting question.
To be entirely honest: No, I will not always be loyal. I serve my master because I chose so, and I will definitely forgive him many wrongdoings of various kinds, but there is a line I will not cross when it comes to my moral values.
Some actions are inexcusable per their nature, like torturing innocents for personal amusement, while others can be excused by their intent, consequences or context. So it's hard to clearly define where the line is, exactly.
But, when it comes down to it, I truly believe my master would never do something like this. He is a coward, after all. There are two types of cowards; There are those who will not hesitate to betray you, just to get out of a sticky situation they got themselves into, or those who accept their fate and bear the consequences of their actions. They do it crying, whining, being annoying and a nuisance, maybe, but they do it after all.
My master is of the second type. Yes, he may lie occasionaly and yes, he may try to sneak himself out of the danger, but if he's dug his grave, he will lay in it. Although it is my job to avoid anyone's graves being dug, I suppose.
*Ahem*
I hope that answers your question.

Greetings;
Master Ginro showed me this web-site and pressured me into making an account - I believe that is what all of this is called - so I complied.
As such, I believe introductions are in order. I am Matsukaze, a sword fighter from treasure island. I serve under master Ginro, and therefore the Kingdom of Science. I am pleased to make your acquaintance.
I fear I am not at all familiar with technology like this, and as such, I humbly request patience until I figure it out.
If you need anthing else, please feel free to reach out. I will do my best to help.
//ooc: Hello guys! This is a roleplay blog of the character Matsukaze from the anime Dr. Stone.
I saw some really cool dr stone rp blogs on tumblr, and decided to make my own. And Matsukaze is one of my favourite characters after all. This is my first rp blog though, so please be kind!
I haven't finished the manga yet, so please no spoilers past the anime (I'm getting there)
English is also not my first language (see the next paragraph), so I'll try my best to match Matsukaze's style of speaking, but it may be a bit off. I'm trying my best tho.
About me: I am a random person from germany, my pronouns are he/they, and maybe one day I'll share my actual account on here.
Feel free to ask any kind of questions, I have a pretty broad knowledge and I'd be glad to help!
You are very welcome.

YEAH!!! HEY MATSUKAZE!!!!
Great to have another Stone World native here! Even with Ginro and Suika and Kirisame this place is overrun with old-wordlers!
( @resource-king )
Hello, Chrome.
Yes, it is truly pleasant that there are others from the stone world here. Although it is interesting observing the old-worldlers in a place that is more familiar to them, it can make one feel a bit disconnected.
I shall look forward to more of such pleasant interactions.
Ginro: You call yourself my soulmate, but where were you when my meme only had four likes?
Matsukaze: Making four accounts.
Ginro, tearing up: Really...?
How about we shall remember it as a "noble sacrifice"
(@eallyrayadbay)
Gen: We call that a traumatic experience.
Gen, turning to Ryusui: Not a "bruh moment".
Gen, turning to Tsukasa: Not "sadge".
Gen, turning to Senku: And DEFINITELY not an "oof LMAO".
