The Human phrase of āeyes being the window into the soulā is bull. Its not scientifically possible.
At first they wondered, how can you tell exactly what others are feeling, just from their eyes? How?!
Theyāre just eyes. Nothing special. Humans eyes arenāt even as big as the Zoorāgarth or as many as the Thenns of a thousand eyes. They canāt even change colour like the Datten!
That was what Zar think as well. Their friend Rachel had brown eyes that didnāt do anything special. Of course, like always in a story like this, they were proven very very wrong.
It was after they had become close āfriendsā as Rachel called that Zar would notice something more.
Rachel eyes would gleam when she ate her favourite snacks or when something funny happened. The colour remained unchanged but they reminded him of moons when they gleam with something. Curved into two tiny crescents.
They would glint. Like a spark has been set off, when something catches her interest. Almost like a predator catching sight of prey, he realised with a shiver. Her eyes would narrow down slightly and they would sharpen.
Funnily enough, it seems that Zar was the only one who noticed the subtle movements. Maybe itās because as Rachel had said, they were ābest friends foreverā and had been granted special privileges. Or maybe itās because he made spent more time with them.
Whatever the reason may be, Zar himself doesnāt really care much. Rachel is still Rachel.
In the end, itās just one of those things that make a human human. Best not to think about it too much, lest he becomes like one of those crazy human-booklet scientists.

Alien then realizes "Wait...humans also feed family and friends. Jim ensures I don't skip meals. Am I...family?"
"Am I family?"
Jim looked across the table and smiled as he passed a few more rashers of bacon over to Chix.
"We've served together for over eight years. You're the godfather of my son."
Jim's toddler, Charlie, sat on the floor playing a simple game of trying to grab Chix's tail as its tip wriggled back and forth.
"You helped Akiko get to the med bay when she went into labour."
Akiko was in the kitchenette area of the quarters, pouring herself another cup of coffee, "I think you were more scared than I was," she laughed to herself.
Chix almost shuddered at the memory. Egg-laying was so much more civilised. There were fewer fluids involved.
If Jim noticed Chix's discomfort, he said nothing. "You've saved my life, at least half a dozen times, I gave you an open invitation to come over to breakfast every morning, last year we went a whole parsec off-course to get you back home in time to see your oldest hatchling get married."
Chix nodded, "screw the company and its schedules," he muttered under his breath. It had been Jim's mantra during the entire trip.
Jim shook his head, that same smile still on his face. "And you only ask now, NOW, after all that, if you're family?"
Akiko joined them at the table, giving her husband a little kiss on the cheek as she sat down, "Chix," she said with all seriousness, "you were family the day you came aboard."
Chix almost felt like crying. Though that might have been because Charlie had finally caught his tail. The little one had a strong grip.

Why must you hurt me this way
Kwaziiās a pirate. Obviously. But what do we know about pirates?
Well, according to Kwaziiās stories, theyāre tough, brave, and fierce. Traveling the seven seas on the hunt for treasure. Itās stated that he comes from a huge family of pirates, but he only ever talks about his grandad. Ever.
According to the creatures Kwazii meets⦠pirates are scary, mean, and will hurt you to get their treasure. Kwazii is always unintentionally scaring creatures who donāt recognize the octonaut get-up. The best example of this is in the leafy sea dragon episode:
but Kwazii would never hurt anyone. He was distraught when he learned he scared the humuhumus. so, clearly, Kwazii is not like other pirates; but heās a hell of a lot like his grandad, Calico Jack. (the greatest pirate who ever lived, in his words.)
Kwazii says this line somewhat softly, and looks away with his eyes shaped the way they would be if he were sad. Maybe heās familiar with this situation. Maybe he lived it.
Calico Jack says that Kwazii was just a kitten when he last saw him before the events of the amazon river special. when Kwazii talks about his own pirate days, he never mentions an old crew. So he was probably alone the whole time.
I think that Kwazii wanted to be a pirate like the rest of his family, but his beliefs didnāt match up with theirs. His grandad taught him that he could be a pirate, and be kind to creatures along the way. When Calico Jack disappeared, Kwazii was forced to set sail on his own. Somewhere along the way he met Captain Barnacles, who saw his potential and let him join the Octonauts.
Kwazii clearly cares for and admires the Captain for many reasons, one being that he saw something in Kwazii when nobody else bothered to look.
