i think that's part of the "live and die under your orders" thing. (more below bc long post)
he was willing to sacrifice his life to shield big boss, so it is possible to assume he would be willing to give the rest of his life to the cause of big boss, and being big boss himself is a reward of sorts. also it is not only for personal safety of ishmael but to raise the chances of him achieving his goals; i don't think he thought venom snake will be ok at all, but i think he thought it is worth it and that venom snake would agree. which is still a very questionable thing to do ofc.
it's funny that you see him as a villain only bc for me it's the opposite: i have to remind myself what's wrong with him to not just see him as a cool guy lol. i was looking closely while playing pw to see the hints of him becoming evil or smth, and there were very few. even in mgsv i was upset the game isn't finished bc among other things i hoped to finally get the explanation of how he became the evil guy (if ever). now i hope to get it in mgs4 but will see how it goes.
in peace walker and portable ops there were two "villainy" things i noticed: kidnapping people to his pmc (which i at first disregarded as limitation of gameplay mechanics but is more fun to take literally) and being really dedicated to his goals and putting them first (as in when chico feels bad for breaking, he comforts him in a way that will make chico join the msf). and the second part is rather likeable to me than a reason to think he's a villain ngl. people in real world (not everyone ofc but many) were happy to have an opportunity give their life and death to a cause. huey really highlights it in mgsv for me: in a way, dd is play pretend, but i don't think it's a delusion bc they make it real with their own effort: they do impact the world and even their big boss becomes real big boss via his accomplishments and struggle.
i think that the boss was so loved by her followers bc she gave it her all, and big boss tried to follow and surpass her in that, and that's the appeal and i can't really see him as a villain (especially since he's fictional and thus any of his wrongs can be forgivable). interesting to see a person with opposite opinion.
also earlier you've posted that ishmael, unlike ahab, didn't even cry for his dead staff or smth. that's creepy of you ngl :) as a person who doesn't always cry at funerals of people i cared about, kinda scary that it could be perceived as me being indifferent rather than expressing my feelings in a different way (or not expressing them at all). as for big boss, there is an entire scene in portable ops when a staff member dies. it is not a 100% proof of what snake thought and felt, but i assume the game should more or less reflect his pov, and he cared, just thought that whatever losses can't be prevented are acceptable for a worthy cause, among soldiers and military people who signed up for it at least.
Playing MGSV:TPP you have 2 choices:
You can be good or bad. You can kill, destroy, use and do everything in your power to be the worst person alive. You can be kind, you can save animals, kids, soldiers, grow a family and be a respectable man.
There's actually no choice. There's no two-tracks. The ending is the same. History will see you as a villain. You are a villain. You are, currently, the perfect depiction of the most wanted and most evil man alive, according to the world.
You have no lever. You cannot stop this from happening. Either close your eyes or watch, the ending will be the same. Your life will end in misery. The only relief? Boss will pat your shoulder and let you die with a false sense of accomplishment. Congrats. That's the panthom pain everybody talks about.

Ok but have you ever seen The Boss doing Ocelot’s hand gesture?
Fun fact, she’s actually doing it at him.
thought this exercise is just going to be atrocious but i kinda like the top one (10 minutes)
sometimes it do be like that (worse than before) but we keep going. i kinda disliked drawing that guy bc his photographer uses settings that distort proportions (like fisheye or the opposite) so his limbs look bizarrely huge and disproportionate. but today i enjoyed the cartoonish look.
this one was supposed to be better but i give up. might retry later, he doesn't even look angry enough(9
my favourite mgsv fan service moment, worthy of beating the final boss
few days ago tried to draw, let's say, "a man of japanese heritage" to get better at drawing miller. ended up white washing him beyond recognition, lmao. will probably try again later
he just like me after work... the big boob
metal gear sketches @ultraeyepiss drew on my envelope (the meme is there to censor the mailing info). the left guy is "his impression of naked snake according to my descriptions", lol. looks more impressive irl but i wanted to share anyway :3

morning line of action. focused on shadows today: looked at the whole photo and thoughts which parts are the darkest, the lightest, a bit dark etc, picked a part (all the darkest areas, for example), drew a light line to mark the edges of that area and filled it in with respective value. i should think of a better way that allows more than 3 values and smoother transitions between shadow and light, but for now i like how it came out compared to yesterday. focused on faces too; it only goes for longer sketches but i resisted the temptation to leave the face blank or draw a -_- like thingy; i disliked what i was seeing while drawing them but now i think it's not horrible. i should do faces practice later to improve.
noticed that for some reason it takes me longer to draw feminine looking models than masculine looking ones. 5 minutes was enough to draw and shade the curvy guy, draw his face in a simplified way and his genitals (something i do rarely), and for the next 5 minute sketch of a lady i didn't even get to her head before time ran out. 10 minute lady's boobies are unshaded bc i ran out of time too. i wonder why is that; the answer might be bc i get lots of pictures of that particular guy for some reason and mb i learnt to draw him faster, but who knows. i wanted to shade the orb on the 25 minute one, but ran out of time exactly as soon as i was finished with the man. look at that orb tho, guess who is failing hard at drawabox ellipse tasks lol
it's the second time i do line of action in the morning instead of evening and both times i am satisfied more than on average; mb will make it a part of my morning routine (which is currently washing face, brushing teeth, mb shower and breakfast lol)
seeing other people in tumblr do same exercises daily makes me want to practice every day too

used pen instead of pencil today, i liked it. did 1 hour practice and then some 10 minute pics. some pics are bad (mostly the penultimate one) but mostly i am satisfied and had fun.
