hate hate hate when I’m listening to some true crime story that takes place in or before the 20th century and the host calls prostitutes “sex workers.” Those women were not “sex workers,” there was nothing sexy or “liberating” about what they had to do to survive. Referring to them as sex workers kind of minimizes the awful situation they were in. So many of them either starved to death on the street or did prostitution to get by. They really didn’t have much of a choice. Don’t use modern liberal language to describe these poor women.
i’m sorry but it is 2023 some of you NEED to let go of this belief that appearance and morality are linked you can not keep living in this disney world where all bad people are ugly and all good people are beautiful you can not

“When men talk to me, they look at my chest. It doesn’t matter if I wear a turtleneck. I am being undressed in their minds. If I wore a trash bag, they’d probably be all the more grateful. Plastic is easier to rip through, anyhow. My teacher told us to make sure not to wear low cut tops during examinations. She’d seen with her own eyes, she said, male invigilators peering down shirts under the guise of looking at exam scripts. Thank you. I will remember. I went to buy soup at the hawker centre and the man asked if I wanted milk in my soup. I shook my head no. His colleague said something in dialect. I understand dialect. He doesn’t know I do, thinks I’m a silly teen who’s forgotten her roots, the sam sui women, the orang asli. He says, she doesn’t need the milk, and nods towards my breasts. Both of them turn to stare. I stare back. They meet my gaze and look away, ashamed. I know he knows I understand. He asks me if I do. I say yes, and he hands me my food in silence. I walk away and wonder if they’re looking at my ass. I walk faster. They weren’t embarrassed because of their thoughts or the way their eyes strayed. They were embarrassed because they were caught. I wear mostly black now, to draw attention away from my chest, and also in mourning for my girlhood. I was 15.”

Fata Morgana
a superior mirage caused by warm air resting on patches of colder air in an atmospheric duct that acts like a refracting lens. Objects on the horizon could appear to be mirrored, distorted, or float. This form of mirage could be the reason for the Flying Dutchman Legend.

In 1998, Portuguese artist Paula Rego made the series titled Untitled: The Abortion Pastels in response to a proposed referendum that would legalize abortion in Portugal that was narrowly shot down. Each piece in the series depicts a woman undergoing an unsafe abortion.
Meant to be uncomfortable, the series went against the trends of depicted womanhood in art at the time and previously. Rego brought to light the things that were swept under the rug, exhibiting in capital of the country, Lisbon.
Her work is stated to be imperative to the changing of public opinion in favor of pro-choice legislation.
She made it unrebloggable 😂
