OMG!!! @olithegeek i'm sorry i'm very frequently sleepy and tired ahaha, an extra detail i forgot to mention is that you'll want to slip stitch the long ends of the tentacles together once you have the strip (of the primary and secondary color) which will join it into the proper tentacle shape and also make it curly!! sorry for leaving that bit out!! ^^;;;
Any chance I could get a pattern for the crochet octokitten?? Its adorable
hii! i want to preface this with a couple of things. first of all!! this is so flattering! i'm glad you find my creation that i basically made up on the fly cute /)///(\
unfortunately, making something up on the fly means... i didn't really make a pattern or take too many notes, because i really intended on the octokitten being a thing that i just made once, lol. HOWEVER!!! because of your ask i did try to replicate what i did, i think i messed up some stitches that make it difficult to make out what i did exactly. so while i provide a pattern, it is decidedly not the same looking octokitten, and you are welcome to play around with it and modify it as you see fit!! while this pattern might not be the MOST reliable, i did make another octokitten according to it and it turned out really cute and proportional as well.
pattern and other information under the cut:
i used 3 colors of 4.0 mm yarn (although the brown yarn is of a slightly stiffer quality and is a bit thicker and might be 5.0. but i'm sure it doesn't make that much of a difference :p). so you'll have your primary color (body color), secondary color (half of the tentacle color) and tertiary color (if you're sewing/embroidering on eyes like i did. you can also use the plastic ones if you have them, or more accurate to octokitten canon, buttons.)
head: 1 - magic circle 6 2 - inc (all around) 3 - sc 2, inc (all around) 4 - inc, sc3 (all around) 5-7 - sc all around 8 - dc, sc3 (all around) 9 - dc, sc2 (all around)
ears: ch 4 + ch 1 turn piece and slip stitch half double crochet half double crochet double crochet
body: (this is where i'm very unsure of what i did ToT) 1 - magic circle 6 2 - inc (all around) 3 - sc, inc (all around) 4 - inc, sc2 (all around) 5-7 sc (all around) 8 - 10 sc, dc (all around) 9 - 8 sc, dc (all around) 10 - 7 sc, dc (all around) 11-16 - sc (all around) 17 - 2 sc, dc (all around)
tentacles (x8): (start with the secondary color) ch 25 + ch 2 turn piece and half double crochet all the way to the end change to primary (body) color and double crochet all the way to the end
and sew it all together!
if you have any questions, whether it be about my pattern formatting (since i've never done something like this), particular wording, or whatever else, i'm very happy to answer them :))
