But what about the days you don't want to feel happy? For those, we have a limited edition eye mask with hand-sewn sequin tears. Miserable, but glamourous. https://www.tikipapier.com/
Always the fond memory, never the trophy wife.
I went to Parc Guell to see a bit of Gaudi and I think my favorite parts of mosaic were done by his collaborator, Josep Maria Jujol. I want to look at more of his work to see if I can tease out which bits he did. The terrace benches are decorated with patterned broken tile that is really beautiful and subtle in a way that much of the other trencadis in the park isn't. The aspect of Gaudi's work I'd not known about was his engineering. The park is full of slanted columns that look decorative but are canted that way to support the load. I'd no idea, until I got up close, how practical his work was. #barcelona #modernisme #artnouveau #architectural #engineering #drawntoadventure ps. On the topic of creative collaboration, this World's Most Fashionable Paper Doll was cut and colored by Tiny Tiki Papier. She is dressed for an apres-touristing picnic. #kidsart #tikidolls #bespoke

Tiki Travel Tip #2 Emergency coffee. Bring something with you in your carry-on. Jetlag is a vicious beast and you must be prepared to fend for yourself if you wake up outside of room service hours. This is a strange single-serving pour over from Trader Joe's that I wouldn't take on a Mars mission, but was awfully glad to have with me in a little one star hotel in the Saint Germaine. There was a kettle downstairs and I carried this bag of coffee grounds and boiling water up three flights of carpet steps worn shiny and thin by decades of budget tourists. I felt young again.

Tiki Travel Tip no. 3 In France, pick up an Opinel number 10 tire-bouchon. It is the ideal picnic knife. It's got a proper blade, sharp enough for meats and large enough to cut fruit, but still small enough to carry in your pocket. The corkscrew works perfectly. It is a simple tool for a civilized picnic. So much better than dinking into your food with a cheese knife or trying to open a bottle of wine with the delicate twisty prong of a survivalist's chatelaine. Loathe multibladed knifes. If ever I am reduced to using the same tool to saw through branches and gut fish, I'll desperately need a functioning corkscrew which they never have. I'll be very disappointed if I'm straining bits of cork out through my teeth during a zombie apocalypse. For now, while we can still lay on a blanket in the grass and eat glamorous snacks, it's good to have this knife. It is simple, unpretentious, and neither more nor less than it needs to be. #tikitested #tikiapproved
