L is for loquacious in the Alphabet of Unintended Consequences. “I hate small talk.” “Is ‘Are you afraid to die?’ an appropriate conversational gambit?” What is up with people who hate small talk? I’d so much rather talk about fashion and the weather than exchange brush-lettered profundities. People who hate small talk seem to be the ones who won’t leave until the house is run dry but won’t ever help with the dishes. #quiet
Back cover of the ‘One Day Like Any Other’ zine. It should read: I think I’m running out of future. But I spelled ‘running’ wrong. #preschooldropout #notmystrongsuit #edits #risograph #zine

We absent ourselves today in honor and remembrance of the victims of femicide and trafficking for whom tomorrow will also be a #daywithoutwomen. For women lost to intimate partner violence; for girls lost to parents who wanted a boy; to the bones found or forever lost in the deserts of northern Mexico; to the native women lost in Canada along the highway of tears; to the women and girls fleeing war zones captured by traffickers. Our list is in no way exhaustive. But we hope for a brighter day. A day when 'female' is not a risk factor.

In the late 1970s, NASA climate scientists discovered growing holes in the ozone layer and linked them to the widespread use of CFCs. Thanks to their advocacy, CFCs were banned in 1987. The holes in ozone layer are closing and should be fully repaired by the end of the 21st century. Had CFC use continued, it was on track to destroy the ozone layer by 2030 at which point, we would not have been able to grow plants outside. Thanks to NASA scientists we have nifty things like Velcro and microprocessors, and also, a chance of grandchildren. Thanks again to NASA for letting The World's Most Fashionable Paperdoll visit last fall for the Osiris Rex launch! It was phenomenal to sit and listen to the scientists who work there. We have since adopted the NASA protocol "avoid known risks" as a personal motto.
