Young Hugo with a group of other orphans on their way to steal from Donella. They succeed, somehow, and Hugo has the treasure/whatever thing they stole. But Donella's soldiers are chasing them. Not everyone is gonna make it out. One of the kids asks Hugo for the treasure thing, and Hugo throws it. The kids are now within reach of the soldiers. Hugo is about to catch up to the other orphans when one of the kids kicks the wall hard and a ton of heavy supplies and machinery fall on Hugo. That, is how Hugo lost his leg (in my fic anyways)

Also Olivia gets a little dented here but she gets saved by one of the soldiers or Donella herself, and then Hugo reunites with her after he wakes up

Donella also makes Hugo's mechanical leg and teaches him how to make it stronger (though he really uses this knowledge on Liv, despite how much Donella makes it clear she thinks the mouse is useless)

Hc that Nuru just has sparkles following her around everywhere she walks. Like nobody can explain it she just does.

I need to make it clear I love every character equally and think they're all cool (why must you make me choose 😞)

I'm voting Varian but for me it's between him and Hugo <3 my favorite little bitches

I was born with blonde hair, but by this point it's turned to a light-ish brown that only looks golden and/or red in some lighting, so I just project onto Hugo and give him my exact hair colour. Still figuring out whether or not he'd continue dyeing it well into the future.

As for Donella, I think it'd be fun if she was the only natural blonde in the series. I imagine her in flashbacks to have sorta dirty blonde hair, but ofc eventually it turned grey.

I know everyone under the sun head cannons that Hugo bleaches his hair and even though it would totally be in character and make sense goddamit this series is FULL OF GINGERS LET US HAVE AT LEAST ONE NATURAL BLONDE

Plus, I think it’d be even more gay of him if he just drew in his eyebrows instead

It also doesn’t even matter frankly bc i don’t even think he’s ginger i think hes more like,, a very reddish brunette?? Like auburn kinda?? I honestly just use such warm colors my brunettes are already kinda reddish, so when i try to add More to hugo’s it just ends up looking red 😭 But its also funny for him to be a ginger because its just another thing to bully him for so i’ll gladly accept that too. Could go either way i guess. Up for interpretation

Oh also it'd parallel new dream cause Eugene calls Rapunzel "Sunshine" so this would be kinda the opposite of that

Varigo Headcanon!

One of the original posts about Hugo said that his glasses had runes that could let him see enchanted objects. I thought I'd take this, but instead of his glasses, it was his goggles, which gave him an excuse to wear them more often.

How is this Varigo? Well, what if when Varian and Hugo are working together on something, Hugo sees a little glow of blue around Varian, mainly his hair and eyes. He asks about it and Varian explains his slight connection to the moonstone (another thing I headcanon). Much later, after Hugo starts coming to terms with his feelings for Varian, he starts to call him "Moonlight" as a nickname

I don't know how to explain things but like we all need wholesome Varigo in our lives I think
