Dammit Brenda!
‘but how are my kids supposed to sing along to moana if it’s in another language?’ the same way i sang along to lion king brenda tell your bitch ass kids to up their fucking game
to lovely humans who were excluded from invitations, left behind when they tied their shoes, forced to walk in the grass when the sidewalk was full, spoken over when you tried to contribute, whispered about or laughed at, given the side eye when you tried to fit in... you are so worthy of love and I’m sorry people have convinced you otherwise. I promise that your people are out there - people who will see the side of you others ignore, people who share weird inside jokes with you, give you affectionate nicknames and go to museums or roadtrips with you and fulfil whatever idea of friendship you’ve always fantasized about. even if you feel like an empty shell of your former self because you’ve hidden yourself away due to shame, this exterior will melt when you accept yourself or let people in and you’ll realize there was nothing wrong with you all along. you have interesting things to say, you deserve new chances and beginnings, your heart is probably made of gold because you know what it’s like to be left out in the cold, and you have so much to give. you are so worthy and someone’s idea of a friend too, and I hope you receive lots of hugs in the future from yourself and others because you’re so lovable.
Yk when you revisit a special interest of yours and you get that euphoria of "yes I still remember every single lyric in Hamilton and I'm so freaking proud of it" yeah that was me last night
It can be hard to maintain momentum at this point in the semester, especially after Spring break, so here’s a checklist I use to keep myself motivated until finals arrive.
Evaluate your progress so far. How did you do on your midterms? Are you doing as well as you expected in your classes? Take this opportunity to figure out which study methods have been effective for you, and which ones didn’t work.
Re-evaluate your goals. Remind yourself what you’re working towards (both short-term and long-term), and take a moment to pat yourself on the back for how far you’ve come.
Change up your routine. I’m a very schedule-oriented person, so I can fall into habits that become boring or unproductive. Change something about your routine – whether it be major, like waking up earlier every day, or smaller, like getting coffee from a different place on campus – and I guarantee you it will make your week a little more exciting.
Touch base with your friends. A lot of people isolate themselves when they’re under a lot of pressure or stress, so it’s important to reach out to your friends. I have standing dates with my friends to go to the gym, get food, or just study together, and this really helps get me through the week. Also, hanging out with your friends is just fun, and we all need that.
Reward yourself. Buy yourself that necklace you’ve had your eye on, or go to your favorite ice cream place. Honestly, you deserve it!
Hang in there everyone, the semester is almost over!
