"If that is how you feel, there is nothing else to say about it. However, if you ever need my aid in this matter, I will do so freely, as a repayment for the transparency." There is something rotten about having to word their relationship as transactional, but there is a desire to respect Inan's boundaries and they have time to build on the fragile trust he had chosen to extend to her after Fen'harel's betrayal. "I will, yes. I am curious to see what this Count is capable on this matter. You?"

where? the winter’s mountains, outside aurora’s cabin

There is little than can be said in times of tragedy, little more that can be done when your friend has gone through the unimaginable. All she can do, when it comes down to it, is ensure Aurora knows she is not alone, despite the tepid water the Courts inhabit, now that they have been exiled from the Otherworld and have to live in a fraction of the space they had once done. Company is a helpful remedy to many an ailment, and company is something she thinks both of them might need, now more than ever. Holding a basket of spoils from the Autumn’s fields under her arm and a bottle of non-alcoholic apple cider on the other, she finds herself in front of Aurora’s cabin. Carefully, she knocks at the door, having made her presence known once she had first approached, but not wanting to cause any panic by her knock. She had enough background knowledge from the aftermath of torture, at least in the academic sense, that she has a vague idea of what the other is going through and she does not want to make her any more unsafe.

“Aurora? It’s Robin, I was wondering if you would like some company,” she offers, allowing space for the other to deny her if she wants to be alone.

Meryasek glanced at the other now, “I think that’d be more beneficial than me getting you caught up. Do you really not pay attention to the happenings when you’re away?” A lot had happened in a short amount of time, granted, but it also wasn’t his job to police that. He’d missed Robin’s humor and friendship, “How many more deer now?” He finished off his drink, now on to his next. “Thirsty?”

...

Meryasek:

“In my defense, I did get bitten and nearly stabbed in the Otherworld, and I was supposed to be taking a vacation after I got my doctorates,” perhaps she should feel the slightest hints of shame, but well, she had known she would be rather busy with her plans for the Eye as soon as she finished vacation. Before that, she had wanted some time to wander around and have fun without consequences. “Three more,” she admits reluctantly, with a sheepish smile before reaching out and swiping Mery’s new drink and taking a sip. “Very much so, my thanks for the drink, dear.”

A key portion of the lycans have begun to act oddly, and her concern for her very own wolf has increased every time she has encountered yet another bloodthirsty member of the Lupo pack. The math had been simple, that of equating those who had been filled with bloodlust with those who had been given Zahrya's forsaken blood fruit. Unfortunately, that did mean that Lain is likely to be affected, as she had counted him amidst the number when the blood fruits had been offered. Her fears are manifested when she runs into her wolf, her rotted ones just beyond reach dealing with a wave of bothersome drows. As she sees the lycan that she had begun to like begin shifting, the Autumn Chancellor feels unbearably tired, knowing this encounter would only end one way.

Running would be a mistake, with her magic half-drained and her desire to keep it for extreme dangers only, so she doesn't, falling instead upon the training she had gone through at Rainer's hand and attempting to evade the running lycan's attack.

She is not entirely lucky, a long swipe cutting through the flesh of her arm, but it is enough for her to get out of the way and reach for her blades. Falling into position, she allows her eyes to flicker to the side and she relaxes as she sees her changeling approaching. They are far enough that she is still in danger, but she is sure she can manage for another few minutes.

"Lain, listen to me," she asks, voice calm and level as she looks into eyes she can no longer recognize. "Listen, please. Don't make me do something I cannot take back."

A Key Portion Of The Lycans Have Begun To Act Oddly, And Her Concern For Her Very Own Wolf Has Increased

Where: Ruins of Rome

Time: Day 9, before she gets back in the fey megazord

Notes: the drug addicted dog came back but he bites now :(

Thanks to the power of the bloodfruit, for the first time since Lain had been bitten, he felt like a proper lycan and not just some sorry excuse for one. He had never tasted raw power until now, his wolf form doubling in size and tenacity. But like every other good thing in Lain’s life, it did not last. How could he have known that the magic imbued fruit that he had consumed a week ago could be so easily manipulated by the Drow?  The corruption coursed through his veins, constricting his mind and bending it to their dark will.  Fate was cruel.  Of all the eladrin that would cross his path at this time, of course the person standing before him had to be Robin.  One of a select few that it would absolutely destroy him to hurt.

“Robin,” He breathed out, his skeleton already snapping and shifting.  “I can’t make it stop,” his voice was a deep, distorted growl.  Another violent shudder passing through his body, bluish-grey fur sprouting on exposed skin. The changeling heart he had come to rely on so heavily was malfunctioning, the unstable lycan no longer had that crutch to lean on. There was no stopping this, the transformation was inevitable. “Run!” When his new body fell into place, he charged. He leapt at the fall chancellor, blood stained claws slashing at flesh.  When the two of them had been entwined, Lain had always hid this side of himself. But now against his will, his true nature was on full display. There was no coming back from this, he feared.

The expression on his pumpkin head was a frown long before Robin came to sit next to him, everyone here had someone. For the most part, anyways. Some people even had multiple someones. It made him homesick for someone who wasn’t here. “I saw, it was very scary.” Yavie agreed, though his heart was clearly not in it. Maybe it was time for him to go home, this party wasn’t as fun as he’d hoped it would be.

...

The exaggerated pout soon turns into a concerned frown as she turns to look at him, eyes soft at his expression. Carefully, she leans closer and bumps her shoulder against his in an attempt to comfort him without making it too big of a deal, not knowing if he is in the mood for that or not. “Are you okay, Yavie? Anything I can do to help?”

"Well that is concerning," she admits as her brows furrows when hearing about Nirvaan's current predicament. There is no doubt that Aurora will want to hear about that, the way she holds her warder dear. Biting her lip thoughtfully as she narrows her eyes, Robin nods to herself as she glances to Inan. "I shall find Laer, I might be running dry magic-wise but I have improved my physical combat skills. Please go to Aurora and tell her about Nirvaan," she says, then hesitates, before continuing, deciding that it is not the time to push. If Inan wants to hide behind his formalities, he shall have them fully. "Good Hunting, Warder Inan. Dar'eth Shiral."

"Well That Is Concerning," She Admits As Her Brows Furrows When Hearing About Nirvaan's Current Predicament.

Familiarity had bloomed between himself and Fen'Harel once, Inan wasn't interested in venturing down that path again. Not yet, anways. "Nirvaan was in the forest fighting a drow when everyone fell apart, I saw a demon catch the Spring chancellor, Laer and Aurora I think are there-" Inan pointed, "and there." He thought it was pertinent that Aurora should know her warder was in danger but he kept this notion to himself, Inan was faithful and loyal, he'd do what the chancellor asked of him. He just wasn't' going to start using her first name now. "I'll find them both and then return to you, my lady."

A sense of disgust and self-recrimination settles in the back of her throat every time she thinks of Lain. Their encounter had been inevitable, it had been a reminder. For all the lycan was fun and interesting, he was mortal as they come. Alive one moment, gone the next. A passing fancy that could not grow beyond that for the pure and simple truth of inevitable with death. She knows that it is inevitable that she will mourn him when his time comes, but she cannot love him. Not when his lifetime will be the blink of her eye, and she needs to ensure she is a source of steadiness for her people.

It is this truth that stays her hand, that keeps her from seeking Lain as soon as the war ends. But their encounter is not inevitable, so when her clairvoyance tells her of his attempt to contact her, Robin does nothing but sigh and follow the direction her magic takes her towards. She gets close enough to hear his attempt to manifest her from thin air, and she cannot help the giggle that echoes through the woods as she steps into the clearing that Lain had found himself in. Her brow is raised as she takes in the lycan, but she shows him her hand to show him that she is not going to attack.

"That is one way to summon me, dearest wolf," she mentions, fondness undercut by the quiet apology on her tone. "What would have happened if I had not been on my way to meet?"

Where: The Forest, outskirts of Lupercal

Notes: sorry I tried to kill you, can we still be friends at least?

He had selfishly avoided this confrontation for weeks.  The elves were a capricious bunch, it was possible that Robin might decide to finish the job her changeling had started the moment she saw his face.  But it was worth a shot.  She deserved closure, as well as an apology for his actions.  As terrible as Lain saw himself, he drew the line at hurting the few people he cared about. Species that lacked the heightened sense of smell that lycans were gifted with could have easily gotten lost in the expanse of the wilderness, but Lain could easily visualize his own scent trail that would lead him back home.  He kept rehearsing what he was going to say to Dawn chancellor when he finally found her, but knew that there was no way he could articulate his feelings as perfectly as it all sounded in his head. “Robin!” The lycan called out, “I just want to talk!” He stopped walking, focusing on listening for the faint indicators of any signs of life that were not his own that the sound of the leaves crunching under his feet obscured. Lain could pick up on the quick thrumming of multiple heartbeats, but all of them sounded far too small to belong to anything humanoid sized.  Likely just a rabbit or a squirrel. Fuck, where was she?

where? summer’s sands

“How are you doing?” She asks, once she finally finds them amidst Laer’s Summer Sands. The Pilgrim had gone above and beyond designing the Summer Court’s new refuge, but despite everything, it is a pale comparison of the home that had once belonged to them. It’s impossible to compare less than a month of work to the countless years and centuries that had been spent on the creation of the Courts. Young and old had come together to create a home, and now it is all lost to the Drow Queen’s domain. It would make her furious, it does make her furious, but she is weighted too much by the grief of betrayal for that anger to manifest. Not yet, at least. It had been the same with her brother’s death, first grief came and overwhelmed her, then anger and the desire for revenge. Her time would come, but for now, she would follow her grief and ensure those she loves are as well as possible with all the circumstances. “The last few weeks have not been easy on any of us, but they might have hit you harder.”

"Lying suits you well, does it not?" There is no judgment on her voice, overfilled with amusement as it is. It is rather hilarious, that once given the ability to bend the truth and outright twist it, Farenduil had taken to it like a otter to water. Convenient, in a way, as his status as a former fey might endanger him and the ability to lie might save him. "It's good for you to admit as much, the first step for growth is always self-acknowledgment," she says with a sly grin and a shrug. "There is only way to go from here is forward. Any thoughts on what you would like to do?"

"I appreciate you trying to spice up my love life," He doesn't, not really, and yet he's terribly amused that there are those that seem semi-involved. After everything that had transpired the last year, the concept of dating should be a breeze. It's not, not because he didn't think it was very apparent between the two of them that there was something there, but because where did they go from here? Maybe he'd have to consult with Yavie, maybe Hayliel even. "What I need is to find something to do that's now wandering the house." He points out, thinking of Micah with his job at the herb place, that would be something.
