nd with him come the changelings, rusted weapons reaching beyond what their body would make seem possible as the blade dug far into his skin, the sound wet and all the more revolting as she realizes that it is nothing less than a kill shot. Panic sends her heart racing as she crosses the distance and multiple quick steps, hands stretched before they retreated hesitatingly. She could heal him, she knew this, and yet. And yet she wouldn't. There is far too little magic on her, and healing him would scrap the bottom of her reserves, and she cannot do that. Not when the war is barely beginning, and there is work to be done. A pained expression crosses her face as Lain speaks, a keening hurt as she realizes this is it, she has killed her wolf.

The Fall Chancellor is about to open her mouth to reassure him that she knows, that she is ore than well aware that under normal circumstances he would never betray her as he had done.

But she is too late.

Between one breath and the next, Lain is gone, and she is left blinking out his blood from her eyes, the sticky substance smattering her face and clinging to her eyelashes.

It's not a sight that she will forget any time soon.

Robin Loses Control Of The Situation Before She Figures Out The Source Of Lain's Loss Of Sanity. Lain

He wanted nothing more than to give up and run.  But he had no control over his body anymore, the Drow had warped his mind beyond reason.  The only thing that manifested in his thoughts was kill. The wolf charged at Robin once again, only to be intercepted by one of her changelings. For a split second, Lain managed to wrestle back some semblance of control over his corporeal form.  He could have easily evaded the fungal changeling’s blade, but he did not move.  The sword pierced his stomach, the tip protruding from his back.  Pain bloomed through his midsection and it was enough to snap him out of his rampage, his body shrinking back into his human shape.  The room started to spin, he was losing so much blood from a pierced artery, he collapsed against the nearest wall.

“Robin, I’m so sorry,” He managed to gasp out, blood dripping from his mouth.  His shaking hands clutched the open wound on his abdomen, trying in vain to hold back the ichor freely cascading from the gash.  Tears welled in his eyes, he glanced down at his wound then back at the fall chancellor. He would be dead soon, but that fact had not dawned on him yet. “I-I didn’t mean to-,” He couldn’t even finish his sentence before his body exploded. Splattered red viscera was all that was left of him. His lifeblood painted Robin’s clothing, the changelings standing guard, the walls, everything.

Maybe the world would be a better place with him gone.  This was what he always wanted, right? Death.

He Wanted Nothing More Than To Give Up And Run.  But He Had No Control Over His Body Anymore, The Drow

Autumn is in the air, the spores tethering themselves into body and brick alike. It is a relief to have a clear sign that her plans had taken root, that her time spent studying under the elders and the Wisdom Daimona had been worth their while, even if it had meant ignoring the world outside the forest. A world that she no longer feels responsible for saving, not when she needs to focus on her people first. The Lupo pack is moving, so the Eye should be taken care of, which means that the Courts must turn their eyes towards the Drow.

At the same time, she cannot just move without consulting the Elders. Not without documenting her every action to provide a sense of accountability for herself, a paper trail for others to go through if there was ever a doubt of her allegiances. Fen'harel's legacy loomed over her, their shadow as dark as the magic of Lloth's priests. The legacy of thousands of years of lies cannot be erased easily, and she is the one left to hold the weight of an embittered people.

"Inan," Robin welcomes warmly as he steps into the alcove of the Chancellor's Estate, glad to see him returned from a self-imposed exile that the Elders had not thought he deserved. His words settle heavily over her shoulders as the implications dawn on her. Head tilting to the side in consideration, Robin smiles kindly and steps forward, one finger settling under his chin to keep his gaze on her. "As my warder, or my watcher? I am aware that the council would like the later, and I do not begrudge them for it, but I would appreciate your honesty."

Autumn Is In The Air, The Spores Tethering Themselves Into Body And Brick Alike. It Is A Relief To Have

@thegoodfellow location: Autumn's Fields, Chancellor's Estate notes: idk when this takes place but I would like it to be when he becomes her warder thanks

Fall's fields were a pale shadow when compared to what they'd held in the Otherworld, but in every corner there was the essence of those hoping to rebuild. Their kind were used to preparation and to anticipation, often their place to look ahead at the coming and cold and understand what had to be done. Forethought in action as Inan wandered with a characteristic autumnal breeze at his back; his presence was light and deceiving, weak magic bolstered few environmental effects but Inan had never cared to be as flashy as some of the others.

Robin's presentation at the Equinox denoted her ascension, maybe undetectable to some but he remembered who she'd been before the Council had tapped her, and he felt the difference now. The myriad shift of small magic that was pronounced among them, spores and rot that were too small to see but for fey of their court who'd trained for so long, it could be felt. She had changed, but time would tell if it would be for the better.

Inan landed on a knee, his head bent towards her as he crossed an arm across his chest. "Chancellor," he should have been here sooner, months ago, but he was here now. He'd sworn the words before, he would gladly do it again, but he would do better this time. Blue eyes shifted from the ground at Robin's feet towards her features, "I was summoned by the Elder Council, if you'll have me, my sword is at your side."

Who? @sanctimoniovs

She finds the lycan fighting alone in the middle of a dozen Terrors, and she doesn’t hesitate to jump into the fray, flaming blade sweeping to distract the undead before going into the offensive. Years of experience in combat allow her to accommodate to the man’s fighting style, covering for his weaknesses and ensuring no one gets close enough to take a killing blow. She hums as she fights, crafting a ward against a bunch of covering supernaturals in the corner, and when the barrier comes up, she withdraws her blade, raising her hand instead to create a barrier of fire around them.

“Alrigth, wolfie. What are your thoughts on partnering for the night? I need to make sure as many people get out of here as possible, and you are a pretty good fighter.”

"So you have met often," Robin confirms, a spark of delight on her carefully light tone as she bumps her shoulder against Farenduil. As much as she truly does enjoy gossiping, her attempt to tease the former fey lays more on her desire to bring a smile or a blush upon his cheeks, anything to distract him from the reality in which his mother sacrificed herself for the common good. What Titania had done is commendable, but Robin worries that with Farenduil's already set tendency for melancholy, the grief would not leave him. He might be human now, but he grew up as a fey, and she is sure the long lasting melancholy he is used to would kill him in his fragile shell. "But you have not ventured outside? That cannot do. We must do some recon and find good outing spots, then. The Saturnalia market, for example, sounds fantastic."

"So You Have Met Often," Robin Confirms, A Spark Of Delight On Her Carefully Light Tone As She Bumps

"I didn't know that, actually." It's very casual, almost too casual, because he knows what she's getting at and it's something he hasn't really put too much thought towards. Just because he'd made peace with Titania passing didn't mean it didn't hurt, but with all of that swept away, confined to the house, he was left with....Life is quite strange. Though he is touched that many have made a point to keep him in their lives, even if Robin is grilling him on the elephant in the room. "We usually just have coffee at my place. I still haven't gotten out much."

The winter festival was fun, but he was gleefully awaiting the coming of Spring. Sure, he had months to go, but he didn’t mind. Meryasek looked at Robin now, shrugging his shoulders, “Are you sure? Did no one warn you?” He joked, letting the snow melt around him as foliage grew in its place. He sighed now, “I kind of want to go home. Care to join me back to the Otherworld?”

...

“You know no one did,” she rolls her eyes at teasing, more fond than anything. Even as she sends him a look, the tension melts from her shoulders. A breath of respite amongst all the new responsibilities and she appreciates it. “A quick jaunt through the Spring Court? Well, I would never pass that up. Shall we?”

Fey and their fucking tricks. Bound through deals and contracts, that just sounded great. Useful, maybe, but that didn’t mean Alek had to like it. “I wouldn’t be surprised, they’re all over, aren’t they?” The lycan stated simplistically, considering their tech and their guns and their equipment it stood to reason that they had to be getting their materials from elsewhere. Manufacturing probably happened elsewhere too, for all their flexing of power Alek had to wonder how much of their development was being poured into it. “I’ve smelled them in there, in the Otherworld. It’s faint, but they’re there enough.” Alek had to wonder how they were getting there, but that might as well have been another fire entirely. “What are you thinking?”

image

...

“Like cockroaches,” she echoes the sentiment with a scowl. Too many laboratories, too few of her spies to count them all. The entire ordeal is beyond frustrating, but she realizes she has time. Something the lycan before her is sorely lacking, or would have been were he not rumored to be a volatile. A ruthless choice, but one well suited for a man meaning to go to war with an organization almost as old as humanity. “You have?” She had been concerned, but the confirmation of it all is even worse when it comes from someone as well acquainted with the Eye as the former experiment. “I am thinking that the best case scenario is that they have found a door into the Otherworld. The worst case? They made one. It would imply that they do not only rely on technology, but that they also have an in-depth understanding of magic beyond that which they got from stealing from Theneras.”

Lamentably, mortal alcohol remained lacking in comparison to their spirits, but even she would not be cruel enough to spike the punch with some of the newly brewed fungi concoctions while some relatively decent mortals were present. Instead, she finds herself hanging from a chandelier absentmindedly as she people watches and occasionally sends flicker of magic to cause people to trip and embarrass themselves in front of those they are trying to impress, of spilling their drinks and so on as she sips from the brew. When Yavie all bust manifests next to her, she sends him an affectionate grin as she offers him the bottle as her eyes flicker up to the blinking stars abroad, eyes wide in delight at the sight before turning down to look at the star wistfully. "I think you might have elevated the entire tree with your choice. Next time, though, do invite me to the negotiation please. I would love to watch."

Not one to come to a party empty handed, Yavie had arrived to the castle when the music was reaching its peak. It was a very festive time of year and the elf had managed to pull himself away from the stars for long enough to attend. As he entered the air about the flashing, neon lights seemed to twinkle with an infinite array of blinking stars. "What do you think?" Yavie asked as he produced a crystalline star, within the Astral creature had borrowed some of the essence of polaris to illuminate the festivities and the long nights that followed. "Stars aren't easy to negotiate with but once I explained to her that it was for Christmas she was very receptive. I'm going to put it at the top of the tree."
