“I Would Have Ensured You Were Safe For The Rest Of The Night,” She Shrugs. She Might Have Been Violating

“I would have ensured you were safe for the rest of the night,” she shrugs. She might have been violating the Senate’s rules by revealing the supernatural, but really, he was currently in a vampire lead party. By this point, not telling him would be clear endangerment, and she might have been willing to send her birds into the Eye, but letting a clueless human be devoured by beasts he didn’t recognize would weight on her conscience. “There might be laws about this, but truly, who would dare to judge me, when we met in a vampire party? It’s a fair assumption to believe all guests are in the know, as you are .”

“I Would Have Ensured You Were Safe For The Rest Of The Night,” She Shrugs. She Might Have Been Violating

Rowan takes a second to blink at what is obviously someone not just mortal. If he didn’t know, she’d have just outed the supernatural to him and he figured that was a big ‘hell no’ kind of thing to do. He would know, he got real members of the community knocking down the proverbial door of his inbox. And he always told him that other humans just thought he was a really good storyteller, no harm no foul. “And if I didn’t know, what were you going to do?” He looks up from the wares he’s browsing to look at her, deadpan. “I am armed with knowledge, I contain multitudes.” That’s blunt too, despite the slight nod of his head to affirm it.

Aurora takes the glass, silently grateful to have something to occupy her hands and to have something to burn her throat. She takes a sip as the other speaks, hesitating only when Fen’harel was mentioned. Her eyes fell. As she took the glass away from her lips, her gaze finally returned to Robin. “Please… I’ve always counted on you to speak your mind. Everyone else is walking on eggshells around me and I-” She sighed. “I understand. But it’s very difficult to try to come back to myself when no one else is doing it.” She ground her teeth nervously, turning away, pacing very slowly. “If it’s any comfort for you, Robin, I don’t think you’re a failure of a replacement. You’ve held your Court together. You’ve managed to despite never being groomed to do it, despite perhaps the worst travesties we have endured as a people in… millennia.”

“If you want me to speak my mind, then you are going to have to accept my kindness and empathy, neither of which are a weakness, as brief as they are, because ignoring tragedy does not help, and you know this,” Robin says pointedly, the allusion towards her own brothers demise vague enough that most would miss. Not Aurora, though, not when they had known each other for so long and the other was aware of the reason why Robin had become involved with the hunt for the Eye in the first place. “I have managed yes, but managing is not enough when we are facing our current threats. I have to do better, be better, but I lack the training and the person who could have trained me is a traitor and no longer part of the Court. Whatever legacy there is for the Fall Chancellor is one that I have to learn without training.”

notes: where in the world is waldo farenduil

It is with desperate surprise that she pulls Yavie back from another feral vampire an into another room. A brief gesture has the door closing with a barrier, but her mind is being pulled away in countless directions as she seeks the other members of her court, the members of her people. She had only known of the Chancellors, the Princes, the Marshals and the Senators invitations, but there is always the fear that more of their kind were in danger.

“Are you alright? Have you an eye on Faren? Mery? Anyone?” She asks, voice desperate as she eyes the door she is sure will not hold for long. Reinforcing it is useless, as they must leave before it is too late.

“Oh you’re freakin’ me out somethin’ mighty now,” Wade turned almost gravely serious for he’d never seen Robin be so caught up within herself. The tear threatens to fall from her and it glistens atop vivid irises though Wade says nothing, he knows better than to point out a vulnerability in someone unless you’re intending to wound. He’d always fought and remained tacit through his own trembling teeth and dampened eyes and he wouldn’t undress Robin so emotionally in the midst of some cheesy Roman cafe; it’d be wrong. He’s quite animated as his head pans down to look at her hand upon his then back up to her sullen mien, her idea of a promotion causing his brows to crease in confusion. “And did’y have a choice in that? ‘Cause if I had a fuckin’ promotion I’d be doin’ a lil’ dance yet you’re over there all curled in on yourself.” They were all licking their wounds, that much was true, but it was the only way Wade figured he could pose the question all whilst supporting her facade as an immovable and unwavering figure.

“I was voted in after our last Chancellor confessed to working with those hunting our kind to call those who would sooner kill us than let us live in peace,” she comments softly, unable to apologize for her odd behavior when at the end of the day she couldn’t. Masks were something well-used by those on the Fall court, capable of keeping a facade for sake of survival, and yet, Robin could not afford to keep such a thing going when Fen’harel had proved to be a liar amongst liars. It was time for honesty to triumph on her court, and she would lead by example so that her loyalty would never be questioned. Even now, she is using that truth to further prove her loyalty. She had tried to ignore her suspicions, the pull from her clairvoyance telling her that Wade was walking a path that she could only condemn but —  He is a friend, a true one, and she cared for him. Cared for him enough to ignore the clues, cared for him enough not to pry. That had to end, though, for she would not allow for their friendship to threaten the people under her charge. “We are being hunted, and the leader the Fall Court chose over three millennia ago forsook us for power. Needless to say, I have been left to fill quite the big shoes while having to avoid their mistakes.”

The lycan listened as she divulged more information about the target, analyzing her words down to every last detail.  From how Robin spoke of the hunter, he could not shake the feeling that this was personal to the fey.  It served as a testament to the organization’s leaps in power, that they could sink their claws into a species as ancient and cunning as the eladrin.  “How do you know this hunter?  Did they try to kill you or something?” Lain prodded, like he wouldn’t eventually find out for himself.  When he hacked someone, he looked at everything. He commited the man’s name to memory, wishing he was already back at his place seated in front of his computer and not in the middle of the forest. A chancellor. The woman standing before him was no ordinary fae.  He wondered if she would try to pet him like a dog in the same way that the spring chancellor liked to run his fingers through Alek’s hair. He began to question as to whether or not he would let her. “Lain Solus. Just some lycan,” Lain offered lamely with a shrug, digging his hands into the pockets of his hoodie.

...

“Or something,” Robin says dryly, a wry smile on her lips to hide the sudden bout of darkness on her eyes at the reminder of the hunter’s betrayal. She had built herself up from how he had left her, bleeding out on the forest floor to save his own skin, but that did not make her forget. She would never forget, even if she is aware she will have to feign forgiveness if she wants to make further use. Feign forgiveness or truly forgive him, for she knows herself and knows that the human holds a soft spot for her. Still, her duties to the Court trump even that forgiveness, and she had already put him above her people’s safety once. As a Chancellor she cannot do it again. Even if she did end up forgiving Wade, she would still use him to destroy the Eye. The thought dims her smile for a moment, before she focuses back to the lycan in front of her. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Solus,” she tells him, head tilting to examine him more closely now that the business side of the conversation had been over and done with. “I would like to argue about your comment however,” she continues, a playful drawl on her lips as she keeps meeting his eyes. “After all, you are the only lycan that can get me what I want and that is something I truly appreciate. Is there anything I could do for you as a thanks?”

"Want To Try Drinking Me Under The Table, Honey?" She Asks Between Laughs, Looking Down At The Falling

"Want to try drinking me under the table, honey?" She asks between laughs, looking down at the falling their comrade-at-drinking and sending his future hangover her best wishes. That is going to hurt, if everything she had heard about mortal hangovers is true. "I do warn you, as an eladrin I don't get drunk easily with mortal liquor. But if you are offering, I will take a mojito or seven."

“Let’s fucking go! That’s how you drink someone under the table.” Anders was laughing now, having won all of his own personal drinking contests. But his friend, or maybe they were just strangers, had just won and sent the other lycan tumbling to the ground, unable to continue drinking. “This round is on me. We drink until we fuck, then we die. That is all to life. So – keep drinking. What do you want now?”
