This is the Aztec god Nanahuatzin. He sacrificed himself in a fire so that the world would have a sun and humanity could live. However, there is a problem. More and more humans are spending less time in the sun to spend more time at work and in school. In some places, people spend the whole day without seeing the light of the sun because they are busy working! This makes Nanahuatzin very sad because it means his sacrifice was in vain. Please cheer him up by quitting your job and/or classes to spend more time in his radiant light.

Some of my aztec fanfic ideas cuz I have a essay due soon so I need these ideas out of my head NOW:

1. Tezcatlipoca down fall as the the first sun, mixed with Quetzalcoatl angst and scheming (xipe totec is watching from the side disappointed)

2. Quetzalcoatltal down fall as the second sun, mixed with tezcatlipoca angst and scheming ( xipe totec is watching from the side disappointed)

3. Tonatiuh and Tecciztecatl coming back down to earth, Tecciztecatl reconnects with his mother and siblings, but has a panic attack when he sees his dad because he internalized what he said at his sacrifice fire thing and can't get over it. Yes, he runs away like a coward

4. Xipe totec finally snaps and just fucking losses it on his brother for their bullshit, then gets angry and depressed at himself for getting in a fight with them, runs away, meet Xochipilli and he calms him down starting their beautiful weird platonic romantic non sexual relationship. (I have many thoughts on them)

5. Xipe totec evading becoming the sun like he's dodging the draft

6. Tezcatlipoca turning into a woman and being gay

7. Tezcatlipoca being gay with one of his impersonator/sacrifices (yes he switches from being a man to a woman and back again)

8. Tonatiuh, Tecciztecatl, and the transgender fire (non-binary and trans-fem respectfully)

Random Aztec mythos headcanons because why not

• The moon (Tecciztecatl) controls the tides because the Tlaloques begged Acuecueyotl/Chalchiuhtlicue to give him a job so that he wouldn’t feel useless. Also because they wanted their “brother” to stay in Tlalocan.

• Xolotl could absolutely devour a chicken salad BLT. I have no evidence for this. He just seems like a BLT guy.

• Tezcatlipoca drops into the animal baby voice when he thinks no one is around.

• Nanahuatzin is undiagnosed autistic because he kinda reminds me of lil undiagnosed me when I didn’t understand why I never really fit in :(

• Quetzalcoatl created Olms (olm pic for reference) and Xolotl hated them so much for copying his style that he put them all in Europe.

• Tonatiuh and Huitzilopochtli flip a coin on who wants to drive the sun that day

• Tecciztecatl is just the dad and dog meme with the moon rabbit
