Ve (Vay) Sometimes spelled "Vay" or "Vae." Mammoth goddess of seed and fertility. Vae is the creation of the Brea to populate the earth, long before the creation of man. She, along with her Mammoth brothers and giants, were the first gods of the earth.
During this time before the Akua, Vae was the guardian of the plains, the grasses and cereals that grew there-on. Making sure they spread far and wide, so to cover the earth with life so there would be food for all. After the Akua took over the old giants place as rulers, Vae was able to keep her position as an attendant and advisor to the goddess of Deanna. But Vae still kept her status as a seed and fertility goddess but just of the wild world, which she was proud to maintain.
Being a mammoth god, Vae has to major forms she takes; the first being her divine. In this form Vae is seen as a motherly aged goddess. She is seen with red hair and amber colored eyes, wearing a simple brown traveling gown of fur and a simple walking staff and/or a sack of seed. In her totem form, she is seen as an elegant massive mammoth with ancient reddish hair.
Brightest blessings and happy Ky'Quilla to you one and all.
Today started the first of the 3 day holiday of Ky'Quilla, which some may dare to equate with the Wiccan holiday of "Beltane". Ky'Quilla falls on April 30th, May 1st and May 2nd.
Ky'Quilla literally translates to "Mid-Spring". It is the celebration of the Goddess Quilla (Goddess of Springtime) marrying her consort Lyan (God of the Eastern Wind and Realm) Thus, this holiday in celebration of a divine wedding. During these three days brend [love] is the theme and all of the symbols of love abound. the primary colors used to decorate is white, red and pink. red flowers like rose are found everywhere and foods of apples, pomegranates, strawberries, cherries, and raspberries are used in all festive foods. Apples are the most divine in the Bowynn Tradition, so it is not shocking to see apples, apple blossoms and foods all over the place.
In ritual procession the icon of Quilla is housed in a canopy of white. Garlands and wreathes of apple and cherry blossoms and rose decorate circles, groves, temples and homes. A greatly decorated red candle is decorated and burned throughout the 3-day holiday.
The last day of the holiday is a great celebration for all. Celebrating the union of the God and Goddess. Foods abound, especially candies, berry drinks, rose and berry wines, sweet cakes, pies and berry cakes.
During this holiday it's used as a time for guys to profess their love to those they love. Traditionally, a young man will take this day to propose to the woman she loves by bringing an apple tree sapling or a small rise shrub. If the female accepts, they will plant the tree or shrub together in front of the girl's home. After they are wed, the tree/plant is removed to their new home.
Amongst other symbols of the holiday are images of various Kii [fairy folk] because it is said in the wedding of Quilla to Lyan, Kii formed the procession for Quilla to their sacred grove where they were wed. So its not shocking to see statues of Kii everywhere. Children will craft small houses for the various types of Kii or make cutouts of Kii and hang them about the house and celebration place.
However, you celebrate Ky'Quilla, may its be a special and blessed holiday for you. May love and friendship abound.
Muet (Mew-et) The river that flows from Alaway all the way down to Daunnat. Often dubbed the Mother river. This is the river that feeds to all other river and water sources on earth.
The river source is a natural fountain that shoots up from the earth. Alaway had servant Kii as water bearers bringing water from the fountain that was guarded by a serpent. Only these Kii could fetch waters without being harmed by the great guardian serpent. If anyone else drew near, the serpent would attack and kill them. The young god Hawynn was a playmate of the servant Kii and hated to see them toil, so he took the great spear of his father, Tane, and the scrying bauble of his mother, Kalma, and went to subdue the serpent. Using the bauble Hawynn was able to predict the moves of the serpent as they battled. With the spear, Hawynn was able to finally slay the beast. Then, using one of the ribs of the creature, Hawynn dug a massive trench to the well and released its waters. Thus, the great river was created and set to flow under Alaway. At the same time the servant Kii were released from their strenuous duties.
In gratitude, Anhur gave Hawynn his blessing and made lord of all rivers and commander of the great river Muet. The Kii that were the water bearer’s before-hand, were each given a river in the world to bless and sanctify, as all rivers branch off of Muet.
In another story, the evil god Mano tried to divert the river (knowingly to Hawynn) to his own home that was separate from Alaway. But because he did not have the okay and blessing of Hawynn, the river came crashing through his home and destroyed it. This of course angered Mano and thinking Hawynn destroyed his home on purpose, he went to wrestle the god. But Hawynn, being older and stronger, beat the young foolish god into submission
It is said that Muet is the purest and cleanest of waters. No mortal man may step into the river. Once in Daunnat, souls are cleansed in the waters of Muet, to rid themselves of all mortal earthly filth and labors. The waters flow on through Duannat and created various rivers, springs and other waters sources in Daunnat to quench the thirst of the souls of the departed. It is said that a live man drinking from the waters will forget all he knows and wander the world aimlessly.
QUESTION: In your Bowynn belief system, is the worship of goddesses more prevalent?
ANSWER: No. All the gods, male and female are worshipped and honored equally. This topic takes us back to the Great Creator, Bia. Who is neither and both male and female. Bia is balance and dictates balance. And we, as Bowynn, are keen on maintaining balance. To honor only the female divinities makes one miss out on so many grand and beautiful attributes that male gods have to offer. And vice versa.
QUESTION: Just wondering, how do you feel about people who claim to be "folkish Pagan?"
ANSWER: I had to do some research on this term "folkish" to answer it. I was disgruntled and disgusted to learn what the term means. But at the same time, I am not shocked, as I have heard of some demented Pagans with his sort of dark mind set.
Aside from it being racist, evil and a dark cult ideology, it is not even based on anything history to the Norse people of old. Just using a bunch of Neo Pagan wanna-bes that never studied their own culture and ancient gods, to dictate and control other people. Gee, where have I seen that kind of faith before?? Hmmmm.
I think that should sums up my answer.
Aleglea (Al-leh-glee-ah) Aleglea is the patroness of the Bowynn people. Amongst all the goddesses she is often revered the most. She is the goddess of all the joys and beauties of the world, all the things that makes us happy. She is a goddess of flowers, dance, joy, happiness, adornment, glory and magnificence, mirth and good-cheer, festivities and banquets, dancing and song. Her very name means “Happiness.” Aleglea is the daughter of Brand and Brenda and considered a goddess that is most pleasing. It is said that some mortals cannot look at her without bursting into tears of joy. And others cannot look at her because they feel less than worthy to do so.
Aleglea represents beauty in crafted objects and artistic adornment, of festival dance and song, glory and flowers. No matter where you go the gifts of the goddess is there. Aleglea presides over the pleasures of life, including play and amusement, parties, banquets, floral decorations, rest, happiness, and relaxation. She is the goddess of flowers. So flowery wreaths are worn at festivals and parties just to honor the lady. Aleglea is seen as a woman of simple beauty. Crowned in a wreath of flowers on her honey-colored hair and she has beautiful green eyes, wearing a saffron and ruby colored dress. It is said her hladd is decorated with flowers, birds, butterflies and images of dancing people though many people have said they have seen Aleglea without wearing a hladd. She wears no shoes, instead walking barefoot.
Sacred to Aleglea is the butterfly, a creature which she sometimes takes form in. The most sacred gifts of and to this goddess is in the form of all flowers. During festivals garlands and wreathes of flowers are hung everywhere in her name. Other offerings to her are pots of honey, votive butterfly images and of course incense.
