re-drawing a Bad Batch scene a day until season 3 comes out (or i forget): day 6

A redraw of my favorite scene from The Outpost. As usual, I am blown away by every episode of The bad Batch. To see Crosshair not only be vulnerable but to turn a new leaf was captivating.

I won’t lie, it actually scares me a little how so many fans of this show think Omega is an annoying, whiny, helpless character. Are… we watching the same show? The one about the abused little girl and her family trying to hold itself together while every force in the galaxy seems determined to tear them apart? When you were 13, would you have been prepared to deal with the trauma of being kidnapped multiple times? Watch two of your older brothers try to murder your family on multiple occasions? See the town you grew up in, presumably with everyone still inside, razed to the ground? Have to say goodbye to one of the most trusted people in your life for an uncertain amount of time? Have your home and everything in it stolen from you? See your older brother freaking die in front of your eyes??

I don’t know about y’all, but when I was thirteen, the biggest threat I had to face was the fact that my mom kept packing me raisins in my lunch (gross), and trying to impress the cool rebel girl in my class who I wanted to be friends with.

Have a little compassion.

Can we talk about omega’s characterisation in the latest episode and how she’s reacting to change around her because omg.

it reminded me of the bracca arc in season 1 where she warned hunter about the chip surgery, saying ”then i’ll be left here, with no one” and it CLEARLY shows that being abandoned /left alone is her absolute worst fear (hence why she wanted to leave kamino w tbb so badly) and in the span of the same few months she witnessed crosshair leaving, echo leaving, and the marauder, her home, where she had her very first own room, stolen—and it made me realise, that in her eyes, her worst fear is slowly coming true. Bit by bit, she’s scared the batch will eventually leave her. I’ve seen people call her ”whiny” or even ”annoying” this episode, but that’s not nearly the case.

She’s not whiny. She’s terrified.

Workin on somethin’ new…

Sometimes I question the clone wars artists for how they decided to make armor. It’s cool as all get out, but why do the elbow and knee pads open outwards when the men are running into battle with their arms and legs bent most of the time? it leaves a big gap. It’s a wonder we don’t see more guys shot in the elbows and knees!

Anyway, the Alpha sketch is progressing nicely! Now for his silly pantaloon-kama

A lot of folks said Crosshair looks reluctant or like he’s “just tolerating” his bros here, but I would like to point out that he is actually smiling a teeeeeeny tiny bit :3

(And you have no idea how long it took to get this to look like he was smiling. I spent twenty minutes trying different angles and shapes to get it subtle enough)

Bad Batch recently off Kamino, and Tech has never seen this species before :O

Do you have any idea when the zine will start? I keep checking your faqs but nothing has changed. Is it fall now?

The schedule has been pushed back due to some conflicts, BUT the schedule is getting updated today. If you haven't already go ahead and turn on notifications for our account so when we make the post you'll know exactly when it's been updated!

And what if, later, they adapt their signs to be mostly one-handed so that Echo can use their secret language too!! Maybe that’s why Wrecker can’t understand them in the show. Echo’s only been with them a couple months. They’re all probably still learning the updated version

It was Tech’s idea that the Batch should learn sign language. Partly as a way for them to communicate mid-combat if they couldn't use comms, partly so they could talk to each other on Kamino without other people overhearing.

Wrecker learnt bits of it, but he never got as fluent as the other three. Crosshair and Tech used to try and motivate him to memorise all the signs by having pointedly long conversations in sign and laughing to themselves like they're talking about something really interesting when in reality they're just arguing about cheese or something.

It's a mix of the standard galactic sign and their own signs that they came up with. It's useful in the field, for sure, but mostly so when Crosshair's arguing with the Kaminoans and Hunter's standing behind them frantically signing SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP before he gets himself decommissioned
