That Slow Fic Writer Feel When

You’ve been writing a fanfic for so long but never uploaded even a chapter, and then a major part of the canon changes and messes with your story and you’re in a kind of limbo of “do I rewrite large chunks of this so it makes sense now” and “do I upload this when it’s eventually finished and just hope that people ignore the fact that everything has changed since the point at which this story takes place and hope that I can explain it all in an author’s note”

Don’t like AO3′s content policies or the AO3 team’s decisions?

Go support eFiction. It’s an open-source community that has been working since 2003 to let fans create and run their own fanfiction archives, where they can set their own policies and create their own experiences.

AO3 is open source, but its architecture is so elaborate and intense that running even a small version of it would be pretty difficult and expensive for a hobbyist. It’s not realistic to say, “Just take the AO3 code and make your own!”

But you can say that about eFiction. When I was a teenager with a $5/mo webhosting plan, I could install and run my own eFiction archive to use with my friends. If a really dedicated fan, or a handful of fans, wanted to create their own website that they could moderate how they wanted, they could read up on coding, pool money for webhosting, and get their own eFiction site underway.

As a project, eFiction needs volunteers to help update the code (it started in 2003, remember; the internet has moved on) and to provide support to people who want to create and run their own archives. If you’re willing to show up and learn some new skills, you could make a difference.

like, weiss spots jaune walking towards her in the cafeteria with that look in his eyes again and shes so annoyed at this point that she quickly looks around for a distraction and sees blake walking back towards their table with the sisters trailing behind.  in a split second decision she jumps out of her seat, stalks towards blake, grabs her face, and smacks their lips together

jaune ruby yang and the rest of jnpr coming up behind jaune are staring in SHOCK, blake’s face is beet red (also in shock, of course), but weiss wraps her arms around her and in the sweetest voice she can fake-muster up says “hey cutie, i saved you a seat~” 

now their friends think they’re suddenly dating and shenanigans ensue. 

Congrats to Velma in the latest movie for being a lesbian.

Laid off countless staff

Is likely doing more layoffs we don’t even know about

Cancel completed projects to get tax breaks

Removed countless animated series with no warning and without telling the staff

Is being sued for inflating HBO Max user numbers by Tens-Of-Millions

Turned beloved IPs (The Matrix/Harley Quinn/etc) into NFTs

Is STILL making “Bad Wizard Lady” projects

AND SO MUCH MORE!

I wonder, really, if the staff who made the most recent Scooby-Doo movie where Velma is a lesbian were even paid properly or even still have their JOBS…

Writer Problems

When you lose interest in a story that you’re writing but YOU HAVEN’T LOST INTEREST IN THE STORY, YOU’VE JUST LOST INTEREST IN THAT PARTICULAR PART THAT YOU’RE WRITING AND YOU WANT TO GET TO THE GOOD STUFF THAT YOU’RE ACTUALLY INTERESTED IN BUT YOU CAN’T DO THAT WITHOUT FINISHING THE BORING PARTS
