Everyone’s talking about how Damiano David can be Sirius- not just faceclaim wise- but his whole vibe and persona (and believe me, I too am one of those people). But let’s talk about the other members for a second.
Let’s talk about Thomas and his mid-length brown hair and brown eyes. The way he seems both loud and quiet at the same time. The way he gives off an impression of being a young, goody-two shoes type of person, until he opens his mouth and you realise he’s just as anarchist as the rest of them. Or when he puts on fishnet outfits, and his friends kiss him, and he strums a guitar in an underground area of London. How teachers think that they’re getting someone who follows the rules, but then he sneaks out of class to smoke. How you’re getting Remus Lupin.
Or Ethan, who’s so calm and collected you think he’s some sort of mythical being, the background character but so so prominent at the same time. The long dark hair and the eyes that feel thousands of years old. The quiet guy who’s seen everything, but he has that burning desire to be punk rock, fuck the government, as long as he has the freedom to do so. How you’re getting Regulus Black.
Or Victoria. The biggest presence in the group, whom they all love so much they dedicated the band name to her. Who’s independent and loud and outgoing, but so elegant at the same time. The high top leather boots and the skirts and the jackets, being shipped with no one because she’s her own damn person and not dependent on the guys, but loves them even so. The grin as her eyes crinkle up, and the tongue waggle when she gets excited and the anarchist hand signs, but is also the mature spokesperson and so so lovely. How you’re getting Lily Evans.
But let’s not forget Damiano either. Fuck gender roles as he wears a skirt, permanent eyeliner and black nail varnish. The fishnet outfits and the black chokers, tattoos all over him and smoking. Telling Europe to shut up and sit down because it’s his time now, his generation, his message. No more government or boxes or labels. He’ll kiss his guy friends in front of people who would persecute him for it, he’ll swear in front of entire countries, he’ll take his shirt off and show off his high heeled boots and drink champagne. And you’ll look at him and you’ll wonder how one person can exude so much gender, so much beauty, how his voice is utterly mesmerising, not just his singing voice, but his voice. He’s happy, he’s excited, but he’s moody and quiet, but he’s loud and charismatic. You’re getting a thirty year old and a sixteen year old in a twenty one year old. You’re getting Sirius Black.
Funny when you’re dead how people start listenin’
Boys, protect girls. Call people out when they make offensive jokes. Stand up to those who treat girls like objects. Walk a girl home if she feels unsafe. Listen to them and be considerate of their feelings. Destroy that myth that women are inferior.
Girls, protect boys. Call people out when they make fun of a boy for showing emotion. Stand up to those who tell boys to ‘man up.’ Support boys who enjoy feminine things. Destroy the myth that men can’t be victims and that women can’t be predators.
Boys, protect boys. Protect your bros from violent relationships. Comfort your bros when they need somebody. Stand up for your bros who are ridiculed for not wanting/liking sex. Destroy the myth that two men can’t be close without it being “gay.”
Girls, protect girls. Defend sisters who enjoy having sex. Stand up to those who define sisters for what they wear. Don’t judge your sister’s worth from how many boyfriend’s she’s had. Destroy the myth that girls have to constantly compete with each other.
Protect everyone from the patriarchy.
