IT'S SPINNER'S BIRTHDAY!!!!
toga is threatening to cut the cake first
"Touya loves his dad" and "Touya hates his dad" both don't get the full picture. Dabi loves the IDEA of Enji as his father but he HATES the person Enji is. Any love he has is for the idea of what his father *should* be or *should* have been and his hatred is based on the reality of who Enji is as a person
Isn't it weird that Dabi is literally burning to death in front of their eyes and the Todorokis are still talking about how it's causing problems for other people? Like? Priorities? Also wasn't that the whole root of the issue back when Toya was a child and all he did was complain about his father mistreating him they considered THAT to be him causing problems for other people?
Oh totally. I swear, everyone has villain tunnel vision this arc; focused more on if someone’s causing a bother than addressing any root issues.
And with Dabi specifically, no one wants to talk about his feelings; and if they bring up his health it's never the first thing they say to him no matter how obvious his damage is. Shoto says their childhoods & dad may have sucked but he's still bad for being a villain, Enji said one thing to Touya he could comprehend before the brain damage set-in and it was to ask about Shoto's well-being, and now we see Natsuo telling him to stop being a villain while watching him burn to death. Like I don't want to throw too much shade at his siblings but this prioritization of everything but his feelings & welfare is just Touya's childhood all over again.
Why are you acting like it was Endeavor’s idea to face AFO instead of Dabi? It was part of All Might and Hawks’ game plan and even Shoto had a part in convincing him.
Yes, by all means let’s blame Hawks, All Might and Shouto of all people.
After all, when Shouto held out his hand to Endeavor to team up one month ago in the hospital, Endeavor didn’t just turn around and ditch him without a word
And when Shouto tried to text him like - dad, did you forget about me, Endeavor obviously didn’t ghost him
And when Shouto asked again, Endeavor didn’t immediately make it about himself and admit that he took it more as an inspirational “I support you dad”
And when Shouto gave him another chance surely he jumped on it immediately, right?
And Shouto was jumping for joy that his dad wouldn’t come along surely? That he broke yet another promise to the family?
And of course even if Endeavor tried to find Touya, it would have been impossible because he was so cautious hiding and never out in the open right? Almost begging to be found?
Poor Endeavor, he was trying so hard to do the right thing, but a wingless bird, a quirkless skeleton guy and his youngest child bullied him so he couldn’t.
You are really funny.
I know everyone’s been inundated with information this week, so I’ll try to make this short. Given the content of this blog it would be hypocritical to not say anything, so here are some points in absolute briefest terms:
If you can protest, protest. If you’re constrained to participating in non-risky peaceful protests that don’t violate curfew (because of your age, your ability, or other factors), then participate! But also be prepared for things to turn ugly. If you can’t protest:
Donate.
Volunteer – a lot of cities have clean-up crews and pop-up food pantries that could really use extra hands.
Help protestors by giving out supplies (bottled water, snacks, PPE), being someone’s point of contact, offering transportation, babysitting, etc. There are more ways to help with your time and energy than only protesting.
There’s a bunch of donation links going around as well, so I won’t list them, but if you have a hard time making a choice (like me), this page will split your donation between 70+ organizations at once. If you have only a small amount of money to give, consider donating to Jamee Johnson or Destiny Harrison, whose funds have not yet reached their goal (all links from the BLM carrd). You can also contribute to Chrystul Kizer’s (warning for non-graphic mentions of CSA in link) or Miss Major’s fund. If you like choices, the BLM carrd has an extensive donation list, in addition to other information and resources.
Lastly, a couple short readings:
POLICING SLAVES SINCE THE 1600’S: WHITE SUPREMACY, SLAVERY, AND MODERN US POLICE DEPARTMENTS
POLICE AND THE LIBERAL FANTASY
WHY VIOLENCE WORKS (I disagree with many assessments here, mainly about other countries, but it’s a relatively short and accessible read about how violence informs political life)
AGAINST INNOCENCE
If there’s anything else people would like help finding (specific information, local opportunities, etc.), let me know and I’ll do my best when I’m around.
