I Love Archeology For The Sole Reason Of Knowing That We've Always Been The Same. We've Always Admired

The Dodgers may have won the pennant, but the Mets have won my heart.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since I saw a clip of Ohtani’s HR/SB record and then the Polar Bear’s homer to claim the wild card spot in the NLDS but I feel like I’ve been a fan of this team for years.

In a way I think it’s poetic that the player that got me thinking about baseball in the first place was the player to knock out the team I immediately latched on to.

So, while it was a rollercoaster ride through the Phillies series into a 2-4 loss in the NLCS, I’m so proud of what the Mets achieved this year and where they got to considering where they started.

I may not even know when the baseball season starts up again, but I’m going to be there cheering for the Mets whenever it does.

Guys. Obviously I’m a completely unhinged Rebels fan. Maybe you already knew that. But from the first moment we saw, Adelphi (base?) I KNEW something was going to happen.

Also, maybe this is totally wrong, but I was looking at all of the helmets and that one looked a lot like the one Kanan wore in The Occupation.

Maybe some of these are a stretch, but either way that was a GREAT episode for us.

A guy in an entomology group I'm in got a confirmed brown recluse bite because he felt something tickle his neck and brushed it off, accidentally mashing the spider against his skin. This is how almost all recluse bites happen since they're very very unaggressive. Anyway the bite was just a small nasty spot that cleared up on its own, but his hands and feet swelled up really bad. Then when the swelling went back down, all his calluses were loose and just fell right off leaving his hands and feet like brand new???????????

the way i enjoy baseball isn't that unusual in the age of short attention spans i guess, but i rarely think about a game as a holistic nine innings. i love the individual moments, like wow! vientos got a grand slam, or awww! i get to hear "my girl" again as lindor comes up. even something like, great job! you struck out ohtani, i'm into that. it's why it never bothered me whether the mets won or lost. (there's probably someone out there calling it a "coping strategy").

all of my favourite parts about baseball that tie these moments together, like warm days at the ballpark or GKR on the call, are not available right now. the commentators on fox are, to be generous, jackasses, it's october in new york so it's getting cold, and the ballpark isn't the relaxed experience of the regular season. even my husband, the more traditional sports fan, gets visibly (albeit temporarily) upset when things go awry.

but there's still hope in the city. i talked to some strangers mets fans on the subway yesterday, something that really only happens when the vibes are good. and while the coverage depicts hoards of folks leaving citi field early, i see my husband, my friends and neighbours who are there staying until the very end, because that's what it means to show support.

the mets aren't dead yet and i will not quit on them. i didn't quit at those games i was at when they were 0 - 5, and i won't quit now.

(i will listen to the radio coverage again tonight though because i just can not with fox anymore, i think i'd hate baseball if that was how it was all the time.)

When I first posted "Flaws to Add to Characters," it gained a lot more popularity than I thought it would! And since you all loved it so much, here's another one!

>>> Indecisiveness - When one can't make a decision, ultimately, they are stuck and unable to progress.

>>> Self-Centered - Self-centered people are often too consumed with themselves to worry about anything else. Sometimes it's similar to selfishness, and other times it's not. They may be too vain or too busy victimizing themselves to care about others.

>>> Gullibility - A seriously gullible person is easy to trick, manipulate, and hurt.

>>> Skepticality - People that are just too skeptical can be difficult to deal with because they seemingly have to question every action. There's always a motive behind kindness, right..?

>>> Bluntness - Though honesty is the best policy, bluntness is something else. Being too honest can be quite hurtful depending on the situation.

>>> Pushover - Not being able to say "no" when one wants to makes it difficult to be able to advocate for themselves. Additionally, they can get taken advantage of and used.

>>> Easily Offended - This person will absolutely take EVERYTHING personally. Those around them have to be careful about their words, actions, or even behavior because they will look too deep into the most non-meaningful actions. This is usually a result of insecurity.

>>> Overthinking - We all have our moments with this one. Overthinking can often lead to indecisiveness, ensuring that a decision won't be made in the future.

>>> Impulsivity - Sometimes it's better to just think things through. Being too impulsive can lead to unideal situations, events, and outcomes.
